This Week on TV – 5/17/09-5/23/09

Welcome to a new week of TV! Last week was full of season finales. Which was your favorite? Out of the ones I’ve watched so far (I’m a bit behind, haven’t watched Grey’s Anatomy, etc), I bawled my eyes out at the Scrubs finale. It felt so much like a perfect series finale ending, what with his “video” in his head at the end… I can’t even tell you how much I cried. Seriously. *sigh* The season finale of Bones was also fantastic. I didn’t cry, but the whole thing with them together was just so sweet and every character was just so perfect. I absolutely loved it. And that last few seconds??! No way! So anyway, let’s see what’s on this week! Jump with me to see this week’s schedule!

Sunday

Sunday has a bunch of finales this week as well. First up is the series finale of King of the Hill on FOX at 8:30/7:30c. I marked it as series finale because according to Ausiello, it’s officially been cancelled.

There are a few shows that I am not sure about their status, but I would guess most, if not all, will be returning. On network TV is the 2-hour season finale of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC at 9/8c. Then on cable are the finales of Keeping Up with the Kardashians on E! at 10/9c, 2 episodes (including the season finale) of Leader of the Pack on HGTV at 8/7c & 8:30/7:30c, River Monsters on Animal Planet at 10/9c and Russell Simmons Presents: Brave New Voices on HBO at 10/9c (1-hour season finale).

Finally, there are 5 finales for shows that have already been renewed for next season. First up is the season finale of The Simpsons on FOX at 8/7c. Also on FOX is the season finale of Family Guy at 9/8c and American Dad at 9:30/8:30c. The season finale of Desperate Housewives on ABC is 2-hours, starting at 9/8c and the 2-hour season finale of Survivor on CBS starts at 8/7c and is followed by the 1-hour reunion show at 10/9c.

In a 10-week training camp, Irvin will offer his wealth of experience and guidance to mold them into NFL-caliber players. Each week a different contestant will be cut, with the eventual victor heading to training camp with football’s legendary franchise, the Dallas Cowboys.

Tonight is the series premiere of Glee on FOX at 9:01/8:01c. The show follows an optimistic high school teacher, Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), as he tries to refuel his own passion while reinventing the high school’s glee club and challenging a group of outcasts to realize their star potential. It’s not an easy task when the pitch-imperfect club includes Mercedes (Amber Riley), a forceful diva-in-training; Arty (Kevin McHale), a geeky guitarist; Kurt (Chris Colfer), a dramatic soprano; Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), a punk rocker; and self-proclaimed “star” Rachel (Lea Michele), a perfectionist firecracker. McKinley’s cruel high school caste system prevents the glee club from flourishing, so Will recruits Finn (Cory Monteith), the quarterback with movie star looks, to join the group even though he wants to protect his reputation with his holier-than-thou girlfriend, Quinn (Dianna Agron), and his arrogant teammate, Puck (Mark Salling). With harsh criticism from everyone, including Will’s tough-as-nails wife Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig) and McKinley’s egotistical cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), he is determined to prove them all wrong and lead the glee club to the greatest competition of them all: Nationals. This is just a preview for the new show. The rest of the season will air next Fall!
