Privileged may have been canceled, but don’t worry, you’ll still get to see Joanna Garcia on the CW this fall. That’s right, the powers that be obviously realized what a great talent she is and cast her as Nate’s girlfriend on Gossip Girl. So far, she’s only booked for a four-episode gig, as Bree Buckley, a southern, witchy, beauty queen type, but who knows what will happen. Check out the article with Ausiello

Obviously, big news for the entertainment world right now is the untimely death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Now, he may not have been as popular in the past few years, but he is an icon that contributed in a huge way to the music and dance industries. His influence changed the face of pop for generations to come. In memory of Michael, Fox is re-broadcasting the American Idol tribute to Michael Jackson week from last season. More information on that with The Futon Critic
On cable news, Noah Wyle (ER, TNT’s The Librarian movies) has been cast in the lead role in the pilot for a bold new TNT series from DreamWorks Television and Steven Spielberg. Wyle will play the leader of a rag-tag group of soldiers and civilians as they struggle against an occupying alien force. [Note from Jenny: I personally can NOT wait for this, as I like the premise and LOVE Wyle!] More here with Zap2It
So You Think You Can Dance opened with a great hip-hop and ballroom compilation, choreographed by season two’s Dmitry Chaplin and the super couple Tabitha and Napoleon. It was just amazing. It was incredibly sexy and hot. I can’t explain it to the level it deserves so check out the video below 🙂
Okay, so into the recap from last night. Two of the three couples I picked were in the bottom three, ( Jason and Caitlin, Jonathan and Carla ). However, what I didn’t foresee or agree with was Asuka and Vitolio being in the bottom. America what were you thinking? 🙁
The boys solos were all okay, but none of them were fantastic. If I had to pick a favorite, I would choose Jason’s solo. I disagree with the judges when they said that Jason’s solo felt desperate. I thought it was well done, and really showed off his amazing strength. I also enjoyed watching Vitolio’s solo. It wasn’t outstanding, but he is entertaining to watch. They both danced well enough to save them for another week, but were warned to step it up next week.
That brings us to Jonathan, who just didn’t do that great with his solo. His tumbling was excellent as usual, but his dancing left something to be desired. He was the weakest and this was the end of the road for him. I think this was the best choice for the guy’s elimination. He was the weakest link. Goodbye.
Caitlin definitely had the best solo. I just wish she could bring that talent to her weekly routines. She really is a beautiful dancer and I hope she can pull it together, to stop getting put in the bottom. As for the weakest solo, it was Carla. I just don’t get enough emotion and feeling behind her dancing. I don’t like her at all, and I think she should have gone home with her equally weak partner Jonathan, but she didn’t. Saved by the judges stupidity.
Asuka’s solo was beautiful, it always amazes me how someone who’s main style is ballroom can make it so interesting as a solo. She is truly a wonderful dancer. The judges, however decided that she hasn’t grown enough week to week, and that she should go home. OMG! I was not happy with this decision at all. I think it was a terrible idea to break up the partnership of Vitolio and Asuka. *sigh*
Vitolio and Carla will be paired up and I hope they do well, hopefully the whole top 14 really step it up next week.
