TV News – 7/13/09

Did everyone enjoy their weekend? I loved the new episode of True Blood. I’ll be reviewing it later in the week, but just let me say, Lafayette and Eric? OMG! Okay so onto some news 🙂

According to Ausiello, Eric McCormack (Will and Grace) will be heading over to The New Adventures of Old Christine as a therapist and possible love interest for Julia Louis-Dreyfus. He’ll start work on this role once he finishes up with his guest spot on Law & Order: SVU’s season premiere. What a busy boy he’s been! I think that McCormack is great on sitcoms and he might be able to help Old Christine boost her ratings.

More news after the jump

Some Super Sized news about the Simpsons! Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me, 30 Days) has been hired to direct the 20th anniversary special. The special titled, The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special in 3-D on Ice, (which for the record is neither in 3-D or on Ice. lol) will air on January 14th. I loved Spurlock’s documentary, Super Size Me, and I think he’ll do this project justice. It’s hard to believe that the Simpsons have been on air that long, and even harder to believe that I wasn’t old enough to watch it when it came out lol. What do you think about this directing choice? Full article here.

What job do you think is worthy of $45 million? Doctor… lawyer… teacher? How about reality tv host? No really. Ryan Seacrest just signed a 3 year contract with American Idol’s producer 19 Entertainment’s head company, CKX, Inc. As far as the terms, Seacrest can only work for CKX for on prime-time broadcast television, whether that be Idol or any other CKX that may pop up. That doesn’t mean that Seacrest won’t be continuing his contracts on cable with E!News, or special projects like Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with ABC. I mean, I like Seacrest, but this salary is triple what he was currently making. Granted, Seacrest does keep the show moving when the judges get over talkative, and he is supportive of the contestants, but $45 million is a lot of money to host a reality show. Although compared to the $100 million per season that judge Simon Cowell has requested, it seems small. What do you think, is Ryan worth it? Source.

Finally, I have found a very detailed interview with Michelle Forbes who plays the creepy Maryann on True Blood. In this interview, she explains more about her character and the basic goals of Maryann. Warning: if you have not watched Sunday’s episode yet, do not read this interview. It would spoil the episode for you! I personally love where this season is going and cannot wait for all the drama to get into full swing! Check it out here.

Well that’s it for today! Tonight’s schedule has new episodes of The Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABC Family, Nurse Jackie on HBO and Cake Boss on TLC! By the way, are there any shows you’d like me to review? Let me know in the comments below!
