TV News – 8/20/09

Thursday and what a crazy day here! All around my area we’ve had severe thunder storms and a few smaller tornados, my town was on tornado watch but it’s been lifted and we finally have power again. So here I am with my post 🙂 Let’s get to it.

Paula Abdul has been officially replaced in the role on Ugly Betty by Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock from the Sun). Johnston will play Helen, a new office temp that dresses a little over the top for her age, and is “Amanda in 10 years”. lol. Apparently Abdul being replaced had something to do with some of her crazy demands, but that’s only hearsay 😉 I like Johnston a lot and honestly think she’ll do this role justice, no great loss of Abdul, Johnston is a better actress. More after the jump.

Good news for two of summer’s newest shows, Syfy’s Warehouse 13 and Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva both got renewed for a second season. Both shows have had a very good run this summer, bringing in viewers in the 2-3 million mark, which is decent for both networks. I personally watch these shows, and enjoy them, so this is exciting news. If you haven’t watched either of these shows yet, you should. Warehouse 13 is pretty funny, and has been pulling out some better storylines as the season progresses. Drop Dead Diva is always hilarious, and I love the premise of model coming back to life in the body of a chubby girl, it makes for some very, very interesting plots. You can catch Warehouse 13 on Syfy on Tuesdays at 9pm and Drop Dead Diva on Lifetime on Sundays at 9 pm. Source

The Beautiful Life has added a very gorgeous actress to their roster, Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious), will play a model named Olivia. Not much else has been given about the part, but this girl is stunning and I think she makes a much better model then some of the girls already on the show. Her acting doesn’t stand out to me but with the likes of Corbin Bleu (High School Musical) and Mischa Barton (The O.C.) to contend with I’m sure she’ll be fine. 😉 Source

In other casting news, Cougar Town has cast Nick Zano (What I Like About You) to play the love interest for Courteney Cox on the first part of the show. He definitely fits the part of arm candy for a cougar wouldn’t you say? [Note from Jenny: Hell yeah! I LOVE him and think he’s freakin sexy!!! 😀 ]

Also Scrubs has added Michael Mosley (The Proposal) and Kerry Bishe (Virtuality, Royal Pains) to the list of series regulars. Mosley will be playing Drew, an returning student in his mid-thirties, who is returning to school after dropping out of Harvard about 10 years back.

Bishe will be playing Lucy, a 22 year old from a family of fishermen, who is also the first in her family to attend college. Judging by the combined intensity she feels from her professors and her parents, she may end up being the next Elliot. I don’t know how I feel about any of this casting, except that Bishe better bring it if she plans on being as loved as Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke). Source

The next season of The Biggest Loser will be a “second chances” themed show, with sixteen previous contestants returning to battle it out once again to see who will be the ultimate weight loss champion in season eight! Want to see which of your favorites from a previous season are back again to try and win it this time? Head over to E!Online and check out the list.

Okay that’s it for tonight, my power is starting to flicker again, oh joy. 🙁 So I’m going to shut down my computer before it gets ugly again. Have a great night!
