From his sitcom Malcolm & Eddie to his hit movies like Undercover Brother to his sold out standup tours, comedian Eddie Griffin is a major player in the comedy game. He’s also one of the hardest working men in comedy… and he better be. He has eight children, five exes and an entourage of family and friends who make his life complete. Problem is, they are also bleeding him dry. As hard as he works, doing movies and hitting the road to do stand up, he struggles to earn enough money to cover his monster monthly nut. No matter how much he makes, he manages to spend more. At the core of his problem, he’s also got a big heart and can’t make the painful choices necessary to bring himself out of his financial nose dive. He needs to trim the fat and take care of himself for a change. Enter Doris, Eddie’s mom, who’s just the person to give him a swift kick in the rear and a big dose of tough love. She’s moving in with Eddie to be the “strong woman” in his life and set him straight. See more at the link. πŸ™‚

At 9/8c are the premieres of Fringe on FOX & The Office on NBC. Finally, at 10/9c is the premiere of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on FX.

Tonight is the series premiere of Extreme Cuisine with Jeff Corwin on Food Network at 9/8c. Renowned for his expertise in wildlife and conservation, Jeff Corwin sets his sights on exploring human culture through regional cuisine. With an open mind (and mouth), this thrilling primetime series follows the passionate foodie and anthropologist as he tears through countries like Thailand, Mexico, Greece, and Peru on radical culinary adventures. Learning from the natives, he samples the exotic foods and local customs that mold each community. Jeff enjoys countless surprises and unforgettable flavors during this fun-filled culinary quest all in a day’s work!

Tonight is also the series premiere of Community on NBC at 9:30/8:30c. It’s a smart comedy series about higher education — and lower expectations. The student body at Greendale Community College is made up of high-school losers, newly divorced housewives, and old people who want to keep their minds active. Within these not-so-hallowed halls, the show focuses on a band of misfits, at the center of which is a fast-talkin’ lawyer whose degree has been revoked (Joel McHale, The Soup), who form a study group and end up learning a lot more about themselves than they do about their course work. In addition to McHale, the series also stars: Gillian Jacobs (The Book of Daniel); Yvette Nicole Brown (Rules of Engagement); Danny Pudi (Greek); John Oliver (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart); Alison Brie (Mad Men); and comedy legend Chevy Chase (Saturday Night Live).
