TV News – 9/25/09

Friday, and I’m back again. 🙂 It’s been a busy week on TV and in my life, how about all of you? I’ve got a little news for you and then later this weekend I’ll post a weekly review as per the usual. So let’s get started.

Folks, we have our first cancellation of the new season and it’s no surprise that we’re talking about The CW’s new show, The Beautiful Life. They are cancelling it effective immediately and replacing it with reruns of Melrose Place for the time being. There are no plans to air the remaining episodes, and for that I thank them. That show was crap, plain and simple. The campaigns for it before it aired were desperate attempts to grab attention with sex, and obviously it didn’t work. I would love to say that I was sorry to see it go, or that I was surprised, but I’m not sorry and we all saw it coming. I do think that Dawn Ostroff is a complete nutter for picking up this show instead of the gem of a show, Body Politic. Source

More after the jump.

One of the original Law & Order: Criminal Intent cast members is hitting the road. Vincent D’Onofrio is leaving in the season 9 premiere and he’ll pass the hat onto Jeff Goldblum. This doesn’t surprise me, although it’s kind of sad. I really like D’Onofrio’s character of Goren and will miss him. D’Onofrio did say in a statement that he, “wouldn’t be surprised if Goren pops up from time to time.” I hope so. What do you think, will you miss him or are you a fan of Goldblum? Source

I originally reported that Melissa McCarthy (Gilmore Girls) would be playing a recurring role on ABC’s new comedy, Hank. She was set to play Dawn, the sister-in-law to Kelsey Grammer’s character, Hank. Unfortunately, she won’t be anymore. McCarthy has dropped out because she landed a supporting role in the new romantic comedy, Life as We know It, starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel. McCarthy is being replaced by Crista Flanagan (Mad Men), and although Flanagan is good, I’m disappointed that we won’t be seeing McCarthy in all her glory back on our TV sets. I suppose it might be better if when she returns to TV she returns to a show with a hope of making it beyond season 1, don’t you think? Source

Finally, ABC has confirmed that the new show, V, will premiere on November 3rd but will go on hiatus after four episodes, to make room for the Winter Olympics. We’ll see how it goes. There are still so many questions on whether or not the show will have a strong showing after the production was shut down before for creative reasons. Who knows but whatever the case we’re going to get a few episodes of aliens to decide if we like it or not. I’m on the fence, not a huge alien fan, but think it could be interesting, what are your thoughts? Source

That’s it for tonight I’m off to watch some TV, and do some more unpacking, but I’ll be back later this weekend with more reviews and then Monday with more news. Have a great weekend.

I personally liked The Beautiful Life, i think they should have gave it a little more time and/or moved it to Friday after Smallville.
