This Week on TV – 10/4/09-10/10/09

Welcome to a new week of TV! There are tons of great shows on this week, with a few new premieres as well, including Three Rivers on Sunday, which I’m really looking forward to! So let’s get to it! Jump with me to view this week’s schedule!

Sunday

Sunday is the season finale of 3 shows. First up, at 10/9c is the finale of Kourtney & Khloe on E!. Following that, at 10:30/9:30c, also on E!, is the finale of Reality Hell. Also at 10:30/9:30c, on HBO, is the finale of Entourage.

Tonight is the series premiere of Three Rivers on CBS at 9/8c. It stars Alex O’Loughlin (Moonlight), Alfre Woodard (Pictures of Hollis Woods, Desperate Housewives), Christopher J. Hanke (Clear Blue Tuesday), Daniel Henney (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Justina Machado (Six Feet Under, E.R.), Julia Ormond (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Legends of the Fall) & Katherine Moennig (The L Word). This medical drama goes inside the emotionally complex lives of organ donors, the recipients and the surgeons at the preeminent transplant hospital in the country where every moment counts. However, dealing with donor families in their darkest hour and managing the fears and concerns of apprehensive recipients takes much more than just a sharp scalpel. Leading the elite team is Dr. Andy Yablonski (O’Loughlin), the highly-skilled workaholic lead organ transplant surgeon, whose good-natured personality and sarcastic wit (& in my opinion, damn fine sexiness) makes him popular with his patients and colleagues. His colleagues include Dr. Miranda Foster (Moennig), a surgical fellow with a rebellious streak and fiery temper who strives to live up to her deceased father’s excellent surgical reputation; Dr. David Lee (Henney), a womanizing surgical resident who’s broken as many hearts as he’s replaced; Ryan Abbott (Hanke), the inexperienced new transplant coordinator who arranges the intricately choreographed process of quickly and carefully transporting organs from donor to patient; Dr. Sophia Jordan (Ormond), the head of surgery and a dedicated medical professional; and Pam Acosta (Machado), Andy’s no-nonsense operating assistant and best friend. In this high stakes arena, in which every case is a race against the clock, these tenacious surgeons and medical professionals are the last hope for their patients. I know a lot of people aren’t going to give this show a chance, and I’m BEGGING you. I have loved the previews I’ve seen and I simply adore Alex O’Loughlin and Katherine Moennig. So PLEASE, try it out! 😉

There are also 2 season premieres tonight. First up is the 20th (!!!) season premiere of America’s Funniest Home Videos on ABC at 7/6c. Also tonight is the premiere of The Next Iron Chef on Food Network at 9/8c.

There is a 1-hour special on TLC at 8/7c called Hoarders: Buried Alive.

Finally, tonight’s NFL football game is between the San Diego Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers on NBC at 8:15/7:15c.

Following that, at 10/9c, is the series premiere of Ghost Lab. It stars Barry Klinge & Brad Klinge, two Texas brothers who founded Everyday Paranormal, an investigation team that has set a new standard in research. The Klinges and their team of investigators are featured in this new series. The Klinge brothers aren’t satisfied with merely going into a home with the hopes of catching a voice on tape. They want to test real scientific theories. With the help of the latest technology, a decked-out travelling “ghost lab” and one of the world’s foremost specialists in science measurements, they test cutting-edge theories. Is there more ghost activity around water? Are spirits attached to specific items or locations? The Klinge brothers are on a mission to find out. And they aren’t testing these theories in ordinary places. Instead, they are tackling some of America’s most haunted locations – including Tombstone, Ariz., home to some of the most violent deaths in history and a hotbed of activity, and the Shreveport Auditorium, where Elvis got his start and may have not left the building.

Tonight is also the season premieres of Dragons’ Den on BBC America at 9/8c, and Parking Wars on A&E at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c.

Driven by thoughts of loved ones and the desire to live, these individuals found the strength to survive terrifying and unexpected encounters by some of nature’s most dangerous creatures. This inspirational drama combines victim interviews with true-to-life reenactments, giving a replay of the split-second decisions that saved lives. Over the course of 10 episodes, it immerses viewers in the psychological experience of those involved, focusing on what pulled them through and what left them powerfully changed.
