TV News – 5/8/10

scottpattersonHappy Weekend! I’m going to give you a Friday and Saturday combined news post because yesterday was a day filled with craziness for me, but I still want to make sure you are all caught up on important TV news. Let’s go!

NBC has picked up The Event, Outsourced and Love Bites for fall. These shows will be bringing some of our favorite actors back to TV. The exciting conspiracy drama, The Event, stars Jason Ritter (Parenthood, Joan of Arc) and Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls) and promises lots of exciting twists and turns. The comedy, Outsourced is going to make us laugh courtesy of a call center that gets Outsourced to India. Ben Rappaport () will be the lead and he’s sure to entertain. Finally, Love Bites will bring us stories of love, dating, sex and marriage, and Becki Newton (Ugly Betty will be there along the way. The show will also boast some great guest stars such as Jennifer Love Hewitt (Ghost Whisperer) and Greg Grunberg (Heroes). Are you excited for these great new shows? I’m really looking forward to The Event and hope it is as suspenseful as it’s being sold as. Source

More after the jump.

Before we get all the new shows of fall, we get new seasons of some of our other favorites. Psych will return on July 21st to the USA Network for it’s fifth season. This season will include episodes that visit pop culture influences including one on Fast and the Furious which should be fun. I love how USA network premieres a lot of great shows in the summer, including Burn Notice and Royal Pains which return on June 3rd. Source

Shawn Ryan, the show runner of Lie to Me, will not be returning if the show is picked up for a second season. Ryan is busy with other projects and Lie to Me was never his baby, he was asked to come help the show in it’s second season and the show is yet to hit high ratings. One of Ryan’s other projects, a police drama named, Ride Along is more than likely going to be picked for fall by FOX, so he’ll be busy. I’m not sure how I feel about this, because while Lie to Me is a good show, I’d rather watch The Mentalist. Source

Okay that’s all for now, but don’t miss tonight’s all new Saturday Night Live that’s going to be hosted by Betty White. Have a great weekend and I’ll be back tomorrow with some reviews!
