Mondays usually bring some sort of irritant however, this Monday has been a good one. I spent the weekend sick with a nasty stomach bug along with my daughter and husband. Today has brought a nice healthy day, and only one week until my birthday! (Also only 9 days until Comic-Con!! 😀 ) Enough rambling about my life, let’s talk TV news! (After all that’s what you come here for right 😉 )
I wish I had better news for you today, but Melina Kanakaredes, who plays Stella on CSI: NY, will not be returning to the show in the new season. In a statement released by CBS it was said, “We hoped Melina would return to CSI: NY for another season, but we respect her decision to move on. Her amazing talent and invaluable contribution to the success of the series are greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten. She will forever remain a friend to the network and studio and we wish her the very best.” It’s being said that she was approached with a new deal but chose to move on. I’m sure there was more to it, as there always is, and no doubt it had to do with being offered an amount lower than she deserves. I wonder if CBS is starting to regret losing any of these fabulous woman? If they aren’t yet, they will be soon.
On another note Sela Ward (House, Once and Again), is in talks to take over the female lead, which is alright but it’s not Stella. While I wish Melina the best in her future projects, I was still holding out for a Stella/Mac romance. 😉 Source
More after the jump.
In the category of FABULOUS news, ABC (Global TV in Canada) has renewed the new drama, Rookie Blue, for a second season! 😀 The show has been doing well for a summer show pulling in about 7.1 million viewers per week, which makes the network happy. I’m excited about this news, because I love this show. My love affair started because of Gregory Smith (Everwood) and Missy Peregrym (Reaper) and has continued because of the show itself. The second season would begin production later this summer, with no exact air date released yet, though the common vote seems to be next summer. Source
Shaun Sipos (Melrose Place), will be joining the cast of the stellar show, Life Unexpected as the hot new teacher at Westmonte High School. This could spell trouble for Lux ‘s (Brittany Robertson) love life, seeing as I smell (as does Fancast) a teacher/student love fest happening. I’m hopeful that this casting is made official by the network soon, but in the meantime I’ll continue to think of all the ways Sipos can spice up the show. Any suggestions? The new season of Life UneXpected premieres on The CW network on September 14th at 9/8 c.
That’s all I have for you today, but check back tomorrow for more interviews, news and opinions. Happy viewing!
