This Week on TV – 7/18/10-7/24/10

Welcome to a new week of TV! Some great stuff on this week, including several premieres I’m looking forward to, such as 24 Hour Restaurant Battle on Sunday and Being Human on Saturday. Don’t forget to comment or Tweet @tvismypacifier to let us know what YOU are planning to watch this week! Jump with me to view this week’s schedule.

Sunday

Sunday is the series premiere of 24 Hour Restaurant Battle on Food Network at 10/9c. Hosted by renowned chef Scott Conant, each episode features dueling teams of aspiring restaurateurs who have 24 hours to conceive, plan and open their own restaurants for one night. Once the doors open, diners will be served along with Scott and a rotating panel of judges representing three areas of expertise: restaurant marketer, restaurant reviewer, and restaurant investor. The winning team receives $10,000 in seed money toward realizing their dream!

Tonight is also the series premiere of Strange Sex on TLC at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. This is a six-part series exploring all things sex. From an Iraq war veteran who only experiences pain during intercourse to a former Broadway star and sex educator who learned to “think” herself into having an orgasm, the show profiles mysterious conditions, unusual fetishes and the kinky science behind sexual attraction. With first hand accounts and commentary from medical professionals, each half-hour episode sends viewers on an unrestricted journey into an entirely new world of sex.

Finally, tonight is the tv movie, Revenge of the Bridesmaids, on ABC Family at 8/7c. Being a bridesmaid was never so much fun or so dangerous! Hilarity ensues as two childhood friends attempt to thwart the wedding of a no-good, money hungry ex-friend by going undercover as bridesmaids so that true love can prevail. The film stars Raven-Symone (College Road Trip, That’s So Raven) and Joanna Garcia (Better Together, Privileged, Reba).

Wednesday

Wednesday is the series premiere of Confessions: Animal Hoarding on Animal Planet at 9/8c. Down the street from you, someone with 23 dogs has “rescued” one more. Across the country, a young couple shares their home with 50 felines — foregoing their three bedrooms to the cats while they sleep on the living room couch. Around the corner, a woman’s home is shelter for 28 cats and dogs, a horse, a raccoon, a pig and pond full of fish. These cases and more than 3,500 others reported each year are examples of a condition called animal hoarding. Animal hoarding is the compulsive need to possess and control animals and often involves someone acquiring a high and unmanageable number of animals. It’s unhealthy and deeply unfortunate for the hoarders, their family members and the reported 250,000 pets hoarded annually. Animal hoarding is a serious and growing problem, and it affects every community in America. In many cases, it goes unrecognized until it becomes a crime – until now. This show takes an unflinchingly honest look at this condition. This series marks the first time animal hoarding is explored as a complex human condition that affects both the animals and the people involved.

Tonight is also the season premiere of Pros vs Joes on Spike TV at 10/9c.

Matt Bomer (White Collar) is one of the guests on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, on NBC at 11:35/10:35c.
