Wednesday

Wednesday is the series premiere of Wonders of the Solar System on the Science Channel at 9/8c. Mankind has come a long way since we first set foot in space nearly 50 years ago. Our endless curiosity has created bigger, better and faster technology that allows us to explore beyond this little rock we call home in ways that, until recently, were beyond our imagination. Whether it was the first man on the Moon, the first snapshots of Saturn’s rings, or incredible images taken from the famous Hubble Telescope, scientists are on a perpetual mission to push beyond the technical limits of what we can see. And, perhaps even more importantly, to challenge our own limits of what we can believe. Today, Professor Brian Cox is confident that we are on the brink of yet another new frontier in space exploration. Recent advances in technology are allowing humans to explore deeper into space and with more detail than ever before. The boundary between what is possible and impossible is starting to collapse. What secrets are waiting to be unlocked on planets and satellites still untouched by humans? Could Titan, Saturn’s largest Moon, be home to our closest alien neighbors? Are there lessons to be had about our own planet from new similarities between Earth and Mars? Are there seriously space volcanoes that spew ice instead of lava and fire? The mysteries of far away planets once out of reach are now at our fingertips. Professor Cox takes viewers on a journey to some of the most powerful, mysterious and beautiful places in our Solar System. From the devastatingly violent storms of Jupiter to the rings of Saturn in extraordinary detail, get ready to visit brand new worlds and experience space like you’ve never seen it before.

Thursday

Thursday is the season finale of Bethenny’s Getting Married on Bravo at 10/9c. It’s also a new episode of Police Women of Memphis on TLC at 9/8c, followed by the season finale at 10/9c.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The Real Housewives of DC on Bravo at 9/8c. The most talked about installment of Bravo’s The Real Housewives franchise is set to take on the Hill. It presents a slice of life amongst affluent, educated women, some raising kids, some driving careers, all interacting with friends and family as determined by the unwritten social rules of the Beltway. With the franchise’s expansion to our nation’s capital, The Real Housewives of D.C. introduces five intriguing women whose relationships with each other, and with the city in which they live, are a compelling combination to explore the nexus of politics, society, and even race, as well as how the proximity to political power dictates where one fits within Beltway society.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The Squad: Prison Police on A&E at 10/9c. The show follows eight special agents who respond to, and investigate, every major crime in the Tennessee Prison system ranging from riots and assaults, to organized crime and drugs, to stabbings and murder. Imagine a city populated entirely by the nation’s worst criminals, and it’s your job to police them – Tennessee Prison is that city, and The Squad is that police force. As the only police unit in Tennessee Prison, a maximum security facility, The Squad functions as detectives, SWAT and CSI all combined into one. All members of The Squad must complete a rigorous training course with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, making their level of expertise incredibly unique. Similar to other prison investigative units, The Squad must build their cases for criminal prosecution – and the consequences for these crimes are serious: additional convictions and prison time, solitary confinement, and loss of a chance at parole. However, unlike other prison investigative units, The Squad has full police powers, enabling them to work these major criminal cases by themselves all the way to conviction. Last year, The Squad solved 130 major cases.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Stan Lee’s Superhumans on the History Channel at 10/9c. Throughout history, humans have evolved through genetic “mistakes” that produced physical changes and abilities which advanced our species over time. It’s a process that’s still happening today, as viewers will discover in the fascinating world of Stan Lee’s Superhumans. Co-hosted by Stan Lee, the legendary creator of the fictional X-Men, and Daniel Browning Smith, dubbed the most flexible man in the world, the series travels the world in search of the real life counterparts of Lee’s characters – people with remarkable powers because they are genetically different.

Denis Leary (Rescue Me) is one of the guests on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, on NBC at 12:37AM/11:37PMc.

Ice Cube (Are We There Yet?) & Melissa Rycroft (The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars & host of The Bachelor Pad) are two of the guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live, on ABC at 1:36AM/12:36AMc.
