Happy Halloween to all our readers! However you celebrate, I hope you have a safe and happy one! Besides being Halloween, today is the start of a new week for TV, and even though it’s a bit slower because of baseball and the election on Tuesday, there’s still plenty on, and that makes me a very happy TV viewer.
This week, we have another guest poster with us for the Remote posts. Everyone welcome Jason from TVaholic.com. He’s got some great things to say each night, so enjoy! Also, be sure and check out his site and follow him on Twitter. Now, on to our picks!
Hi, my name is Jason and I’m @theTVaholic. Primetime scripted TV is my addiction, but one that allows me to help others pacify their TV needs with recommendations for what to watch on TV each night at TVaholic.com. Having to narrow it down to one pick each night will be tough, but I am looking forward to joining Jenny, Lisa, and Megan this week in directing you to the best in primetime, “If We Controlled Your Remote…”
As I noted, picking one show is hard and tonight there is lots of good stuff to choose from, like the debut of AMC’s The Walking Dead. While everything I’ve heard and the little I’ve seen point to it being well worth your time, I’m going to go with Dexter tonight.
Jump with us to see why Jason chose Dexter, and to see what else we recommend tonight.
Some aren’t enjoying this season as much as I am, but Dexter for me has always been about watching Michael C. Hall inhabit the character of Dexter. If the story elements his character are involved in are good too, then all the better. Tonight that is the case, as Lumen, played by Julia Stiles (The Bourne Ultimatum), calls Dexter to help her while he is in the middle of his own little extracurricular activity. The show’s bizarre humor is displayed as multiple stories converge into an ending that could only happen on Dexter. Also, Stiles is doing some great work herself; just watch the last few minutes and I think you’ll agree. It plays tonight on Showtime at 9/8c. Dexter @ Clicker
This all new season of Brothers & Sisters continues to excite, entice, and take viewers on an emotional roller coaster. You never know what the Walker family is going to have in store for you on any given night. Tonight’s episode is no different, as the Walkers try to help Kevin and Scott reunite, while Jack starts to pursue new ventures. Luc and Sarah also share some exciting news! Watch ABC tonight at 10/9c for a large serving of the melodramatic! Brothers & Sisters @ Clicker
My recommendation tonight is the 90-minute series premiere of The Walking Dead on AMC at 10/9c. Based on the comic book of the same name, it tells the story of life following a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually, Teachers, Strike Back), traveling in search of a safe and secure home. Jon Bernthal (The Pacific, The Ghost Writer) plays Rick’s sheriff’s department partner before the apocalypse, Shane Walsh, and Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break), is Rick’s wife, Lori. Supporting cast include Laurie Holden (The Shield), Jeffrey DeMunn, Chandler Riggs and Steven Yeun.
I loved Sarah Wayne Callies on Prison Break, and I can’t wait to see her on this show. I’m crossing my fingers that it lives up to the hype I’ve read! I’ve read some great reviews, so I’m really looking forward to watching. And Halloween night seems like a brilliant choice for the premiere night. Don’t miss it tonight on AMC at 10/9c, and be sure and let me know if you watch & enjoy! The Walking Dead @ Clicker
Megan is in the middle of moving, and she doesn’t have her internet back yet. But she told me what she would have told you to watch, so I’m going to go ahead and pass it along. Her pick tonight is the new episode of Desperate Housewives on ABC at 9/8c. On tonight’s new episode, Susan is forced to reveal her secret Internet side job to a shocked Mike; Juanita becomes suspicious of Gabrielle’s sudden interest; Lynette is concerned about Tom’s mother’s memory lapses; Bree learns a secret, Paul takes Beth on a date.
This show has been great this season, and Megan and I are both looking forward to seeing more tonight. Don’t miss it on ABC at 9/8c. Desperate Housewives @ Clicker
