If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/22/10

Mondays are kind of a universal joke. Somewhere, someone is giggling as we open our eyes on Monday morning and realize we’ve slept in, causing us to be a step behind all day. Well, I won’t let it ruin my week, and you shouldn’t, either, because at the end of the day, there is some delicious television to cheer us up and get us ready to fight back on Tuesday. What shows will help you get over the Monday blahs? Let’s check the list out now.

I wouldn’t be able to put my case of the Monday blahs aside if it wasn’t for my Monday night date with Alex O’Loughlin and Hawaii Five-0. I admit I originally started watching the show for O’Loughlin, but I stuck around for the intriguing story lines and the great cast interactions.

On tonight’s episode, Danny’s ex-wife actually assists Five-0 in a baffling investigation when highly skilled thieves kill two security guards in an armored car heist, but for some strange reason they leave behind the money.

Whether you watch for the hot guys, the mysteries, or just because I tell you to, don’t miss tonight’s episode on CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hawaii Five-0 @ Clicker.

It’s Monday, start of another work week, but at least it’s a shorter one due to Thanksgiving. There’s a lot of great TV on tonight, with new episodes from Chuck, House, and How I Met Your Mother, not to mention the Dancing With the Stars finale. Yet I’m going to recommend tuning into BBC America at 9/8c, where they are replaying Top Gear’s Winter Olympic Special.

For those of you not familiar with Top Gear, it’s a British TV show that reviews automobiles and motoring-related news. The show is well known for its funny, original style, video segments, and montages that are beautifully shot, and for the insane challenges the hosts attempt (my favorite – racing a Bugatti Veyron versus a jet airplane). Even if you’re not into cars, I dare you to watch this show and not be amused.

The Winter Olympics special is a fan favorite, having the hosts perform a variety of winter sports themed challenges with different cars. My favorites are the Biathlon challenge (racing a Volvo XC90 versus an Audi Q7 with shooting rounds inbetween laps) and the Ice Hockey challenge (with ten Suzuki Swifts playing 5-on-5 hockey). The final challenge is seeing if a Mini Cooper can beat a skier at ski jumping, and it’s hallmark Top Gear – using innovation and borderline insanity to complete an outrageous contest.

Top Gear airs tonight at 9/8c on BBC America. Love it? Hate it? Let me know in the comments! Learn where to find episodes online of Top Gear @ Clicker.

There’s a lot on tonight, and while I’m digging the new drama, Chase, on NBC, my recommendation tonight has to go to another NBC show, Chuck. It’s been really good this season, as always, and one of my favorite parts is that not only is best friend Morgan in on the “spy” secret, he’s becoming more and more involved in the missions themselves. He’s inept, clueless, but lucky as hell, and I love him for it. The cast is brilliant, and I couldn’t love the show more.

On tonight’s episode, Chuck, Sarah, Casey, and Morgan venture into the jungles of Southeat Asia when the secret of the Intersect is threatened by a mysterious figure; Awesome and Ellie try to decipher a secret left behind by her father. See? Morgan goes on the mission with them! Love it. lol

Lost fans are going to geek out on tonight’s episode of How I Met Your Mother. Lost-ie Jorge Garcia shows up in tonight’s Thanksgiving themed episode. Wouldn’t you know it, he’s playing a bit of Hurley at that, too!

Tonight’s show has the gang, with an absent Ted, partying all night long with their college buddy The Blitz (Garcia), which is quite the appropriate nickname as you’ll come to see. All the while, Ted is unfortunately forced to spend Thanksgiving with his nemesis, Zoey.

Watch and give thanks for this hilarious show tonight by tuning in to CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of How I Met Your Mother @ Clicker.
