TV News – 11/23/10

This is going to be a combination of news for Monday and Tuesday because last night I fell asleep writing the news 🙂 Oops! Let’s blame it on a crazy day, pregnancy or just plain exhaustion. Speaking of pregnancy, I’m happy to share the news that I’m having a boy! I love having a girl, and now we’ll have a boy, kind of like a complete set. 😉 Enough about my life let’s look at some news.

The biggest news that I want to talk about today is the news about the Buffy movie, that doesn’t involve Joss Whedon. *SCREAM* For real? That’s blasphemy. Warner Brothers has decided to go ahead with a new film of Buffy the Vampire Slayer getting the rights from the directors and production company of the original cheesy movie starring Kristy Swanson. There is no talk of the TV cast or the team from the original show being involved, and why would they? I wouldn’t, and as a hard core fan I doubt I’m even going to give it the time of day. Joss Whedon had a witty and interesting response to the news, and you can check it out over at E!Online. What do you think of this astronomically ridiculous news?

More after the jump.

Let’s talk about Grey’s Anatomy the musical! It’s happening, but creator Shonda Rhimes reassures fans that it’s going to have a purpose and it’s going to be good. I personally think it’s a great idea. Sara Ramirez (aka Callie) is actually a Tony winner, with a wicked voice, and the rest of the cast can hold their own. Rhimes said that they are going to use songs that the show itself made iconic (I’m sure that will include Snow Patrol’s, Chasing Cars and The Fray’s, How to Save a Life. Shonda discusses the episode and her reasoning behind it over at TV Guide.

Check out the interview then let me know what you think of the whole idea. It’s that time again, production on season 4 of True Blood is about to begin, and with that comes some new casting updates. Janina Gavankar (The Gates) has been cast as Luna, a shapeshifter who is also a teacher. Alexandra Breckenridge (Life UneXpected) will be playing Daisy, a part of the wiccan group started by Marnie (Fiona Shaw.) Vedette Lim (As the World Turns) will be joining the cast as a cage fighter named Naomi. Finally, Jessica Tuck who plays Nan Flannigan has been promoted to a series regular. I’m excited about season 4 and can’t wait to see how these cast additions add to the dynamics of the show. Source

That’s all for now I’ll be back tomorrow with more news. Enjoy your day, and don’t forget to watch Carol Burnett on Glee on FOX tonight at 8/7 c , it’s bound to be fabulous!
