Tonight is the 2-hour series premiere of Falling Skies on TNT at 9/8c. The show opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force. The aliens in the series are mighty, mysterious and merciless. They are highly intelligent and use military-like tactics, which makes them an overwhelming force against the 2nd Mass. There are two types of aliens that the human survivors have named Skitters and Mechs. Combining live action and special visual effects, the Skitters have spider-like bodies and incredible strength and agility. The deadly, robotic Mechs stand upright and can shoot bullets from their arms. The aliens control captured children, like Tom’s son Ben, through bio-mechanical harnesses but have yet to reveal their ultimate plan for them. The show stars Noah Wyle (ER), Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation), Will Patton (Armageddon, Into the West), Drew Roy (Secretariat), Maxim Knight (Brothers & Sisters), Connor Jessup (The Saddle Club), Seychelle Gabriel (Weeds), Colin Cunningham (Living in Your Car), and Sarah Carter (Shark).

Tonight is the series premiere of 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show on ABC at 9/8c. Based on Endemol’s successful worldwide format, 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show will feature contestants competing in one of the most insane game shows in history for a chance to win $50,000. Contestants will match wits in a series of multiple choice questions, with one contestant being eliminated every round. But unlike any other game show in the world, the eliminated contestant will then be ejected from the show in spectacular fashion, i.e., being flown away strapped to the wing of a biplane, shot out of a cannon, pushed off the top of a moving semi truck, dragged underwater by a one ton anchor or yanked off a dock by a speed boat. The show will be hosted by Jeff Sutphen (BrainSurge).

Following that, it’s the series premiere of Combat Hospital, also on ABC, at 10/9c. This new drama is set in 2006 at the only military hospital providing advanced surgical care in all of Southern Afghanistan, and charts the frantic lives of the hospital’s resident doctors and nurses from Canada, America, the U.K. and other allied countries. This highly-charged series follows the characters as they navigate through the relentless life-and-death battles on the operating table and the never-ending conflicts that arise from working in a war zone military hospital. It stars Elias Koteas (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) as Colonel Marks, Michelle Borth (Hawaii Five-0) as Canadian surgeon Dr. Rebecca Gordon, Luke Mably (The Gates) as neurosurgeon Dr. Simon Hill, Deborah Kara Unger (The Hurricane) as Australian army psychiatrist Major Ada Pedersen, Terry Chen (Sanctuary) as trauma team leader Captain Bobby Trang and Arnold Pinnock (The Listener) as Commander Will Royal, Chief of Nursing.

Tonight is the season premiere of Burn Notice on USA at 9/8c.

Following that, it’s the series premiere of Suits on USA at 10/9c. While running from a drug deal gone bad, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams, Lost, Friday Night Lights), a brilliant young college-dropout, slips into a job interview with one of New York City’s best legal closers, Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). Tired of cookie-cutter law school grads, Harvey takes a gamble by hiring Mike on the spot after he recognizes his raw talent and photographic memory. Mike and Harvey are a winning team. Even though Mike is a genius, he still has a lot to learn about law. And while Harvey may seem like an emotionless, cold-blooded shark, Mike’s sympathy and concern for their cases and clients will help remind Harvey why he went into law in the first place. Mike’s other allies in the office include the firm’s best paralegal Rachel (Meghan Markle, CSI: Miami, Fringe) and Harvey’s no-nonsense assistant Donna (Sarah Rafferty) to help him serve justice. Proving to be an irrepressible duo and invaluable to the practice, Mike and Harvey must keep their secret from everyone including managing partner Jessica (Gina Torres, Huge, Alias, 24, Firefly) and Harvey’s arch nemesis Louis (Rick Hoffman, Samantha Who?, Jake in Progress, Philly), who seems intent on making Mike’s life as difficult as possible.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Wilfred on FX at 10/9c. Starring Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) and Jason Gann, the show is a live-action comedy series based on the critically acclaimed Australian series of the same title. Wilfred was adapted for FX by David Zuckerman (Family Guy, American Dad), who wrote the pilot and serves as Executive Producer/Showrunner. Elijah Wood stars as “Ryan,” an introvert struggling to make his way in the world until he meets “Wilfred” (played by Gann, co-creator of the Australian series), his neighbor’s canine pet. While the world sees Wilfred as a dog, Ryan sees Wilfred as a man dressed in a dog suit. Co-stars include Fiona Gubelmann as “Jenna,” Ryan’s attractive neighbor and Wilfred’s owner and Dorian Brown as “Kristen,” Ryan’s uptight sister.

Following that, it’s the season premiere of Louie, also on FX, at 10:30/9:30c.

  1. Eva says:

Thanks for the post ๐Ÿ™‚ Just one thought, I believe that United States of Tara is not season, but series finale.

  2. Jenny says:

You’re right! The site I got the info from had it listed as season, and since I don’t watch, I’d forgotten it had not been renewed. Thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚ Fixing now!

  3. chris says:

I can’t find Hawthorne or The nine lives of Chloe on TV. Have done searches for both shows on my dvr with no luck and really wanted to watch the Chloe premier. Am I missing something did it get dropped? Am also a huge Buffy fan, so excited about her new show in the fall where is the best place to keep track of the up and coming new series, release dates etc. Thanks so much!

  4. Jenny says:

No, both Hawthorne & The Nine Lives of Chloe King are still on. ๐Ÿ™ Are you in Canada? If so, maybe Megan can help you better than I can. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. noah says:

Is futurama not considered a season premier?
I know that Comedy Central has altered the count since they aquired rights and started airing new episodes but this will be the first on since the holiday special so I think its the premier for 2011.

  6. Jenny says:

Apparently it’s the “spring premiere” or something. *shrug* It wasn’t labeled as a season premiere, so… lol
