If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/20/11

Well, I survived the weekend, which involved a birthday party for my daughter, with 20 of her little friends. Wow, the things you learn from 5 and 6 year olds. Did you know that two of them are getting married? Or that my daughter just broke up with her boyfriend? No? Funny, neither did I. 😉 It’s amazing and terrifying the things these kids are coming up with at such a young age. That could be why one of my favorite moments of the day is when the kids are in bed and I get to sit back and watch some television. Let’s see what I can unwind to while watching tonight.

With every new episode, Teen Wolf manages to draw me deeper and deeper into this soon to be cult favorite. I’m not sure if it’s the wolves, the high school drama, or just the intriguing storylines, but whatever it is, I’m happy to be getting hooked. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, a new hunter (Kate Argent) arrives in town, putting Derek’s life in danger and forcing him to make reluctant allies out of Scott and Stiles. Meanwhile, Scott tries to survive dinner with Allison’s father.

Tonight, I will be watching the third season/series finale of The United States of Tara.  It’s a shame that this series is coming to an end, as I have enjoyed it far more than tonight’s other Showtime “comedy,” Nurse Jackie, (which DID get picked up for a fourth season).  It has been a great season, watching as new alter Bryce has been staging a coup on Tara’s body, killing off all of the other personalities. I’m hoping we get a good resolution to the series tonight and get to see how this final battle between Bryce and Tara plays out.  It would also be nice to get a glimpse into the what the future holds for Kate and Marshall.

In tonight’s episode, “The Good Parts,” Tara and Max go to Boston for help from an expert. Neil and Charmaine prepare to move to Houston. Kate receives a life-changing proposal, and Marshall considers his future.

Viewers are completely hooked on the brand new ABC Family show, Switched at Birth, which isn’t your average teenage drama. Bay and Daphne were switched at birth, and their two families, as well as themselves, have to try and learn to live a whole new life. Can these two teens figure out what their real identities are and fit in to a whole new world that is foreign to them?

Tonight, now that Regina and Daphne have completely moved into the Kennish’s home, many of Kathryn’s friends and neighbors have been asking quite a few questions. Kathryn decides that it’s best to keep their situation a complete secret and concocts a lie in order to protect Bay, who is quickly becoming a victim to town gossip. Meanwhile, Bay asks Daphne more about her biological father, but gets shut down, which leaves her even more determined to further investigate. John gets involved in Daphne’s basketball games, and it’s there that he meets Melody (guest star Marlee Matlin), who is Regina’s best friend, as well as Emmett’s mother. She also happens to be the school counselor and fill in coach at Daphne’s school!

There really isn’t much on for me tonight. Aside from a couple of shows I watch weekly on the Food Network, the only thing on for me is MasterChef. I really enjoy this show, for several reasons. One of the main things that helps is that it just simply amazes me how much better these home cooks seem to be than almost every contestant ever on Hell’s Kitchen. I mean, seriously, the difference–at least here at home–is astounding. Last week saw the group cut down to the Top 18. Did your favorites make it? Almost all of mine did (I’ll miss Alligator dude…), although I can do without rich, pretty boy. heh

On tonight’s episode, the Top 18 contestants view for a coveted spot in the next round, and in an attempt to winnow out the stragglers, the judges decide to raise the stakes to see who can handle the heat and who will be eliminated from the competition.
