If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/28/11

Is everyone safe? I hope everyone stayed safe from the storms the last few days. CA-RAZY stuff going on over on the East Coast. It’s the start of a new week, and we are just shy of the new Fall season starting. To celebrate, we’ll be doing a good handful of some absolutely fantastic giveaways in the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out on the site! Megan is in the middle of moving, so she’ll be joining us later in the week—or next, depending on how the move goes! Lisa had something come up, so Jamie is filling in today to tell you what she thinks you should be watching. Check it all out now!

Holy crap! Last week’s episode of The Glades was great. I had the case aspect almost completely figured out pretty early on (my husband & I have a theory on that… if we have seen the “suspect” or “witness” in a lot of other things before, chances are, they are the perp! haha), but it was still fun. The best part was, though, the mystery behind Callie’s almost secretive attitude. I had two thoughts: 1) that she somehow got the divorce process started, or 2) something else had changed with Ray—either he was coming home for good, or because of Jeff, she had decided they needed to go into Witness Protection with him. I was terrified it would be #2, but thankfully, she announced in the last minute of the episode that she had filed for divorce. Unfortunately, we barely got to see any reaction from Jim, because he was whisked away in an ambulance to treat all the injuries from his fight with the bad guy. Hopefully, we’ll see movement in that storyline tonight! Then again…maybe not…

On tonight’s episode, an Ernest Hemingway look-alike is discovered adrift under a glass bottom boat with a bullet hole in his head during a “Hemingway Days” booze cruise. Turns out, the victim might have gotten caught in the middle of a family feud between bootleggers. Meanwhile, an old romance from Callie’s past reappears and drops a bombshell, one that could seriously affect her relationship with Jim, the FDLE, and the hospital.

Once again, the show I look forward to the most on Sunday nights is Breaking Bad. Last week, quite a bit happened. It looks like perhaps there’s a mole inside Gus’ organization as some thieves knew exactly what container to look for when robbing a Los Pollos Hermanos truck. And we saw that the rift between Jesse and Walt is growing. Meanwhile, Jesse impressed Mike with his unorthodox method for gaining access to the home of some meth-heads. Skylar contemplated taking off to another state. And Walt flaunted his power and money, to his former car-wash boss, by buying Walt Jr. an expensive new car, and by paying the cleaning woman to do his work. Walt seems to have completely lost control, and is now letting his ego run the show. I’m not sure how they are going to continue Walt’s story for another half-season and through the longer-than-usual fifth and final season. However, I thought the same thing after the very short first season, and have been pleasantly surprised by all of the twists and turns.

In tonight’s episode “Problem Dog,” Walt gambles on a risky new plan. Skyler’s business venture hits a snag, and Hank recruits Walter Jr. for an outing.

It’s another round of drama tonight on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. To be fair, that’s pretty much what you can expect every week on this show. So, I should say that tonight on RHONJ, you will not be disappointed by the drama that is in store.

Teresa Giudice is back to battling family members. Joe, her husband, has gotten riled up through some text messages he’s exchanged with Teresa’s brother, Joe Gorga. With Teresa in the middle, she’s not a happy camper. Which side will she choose? Also in store, another round of fighting between Ashlee Holmes and her mom, Jacqueline Lorita. They may come from the same gene pool, but they come from opposite ends of the spectrum. When Ashlee continues to disrespect her mom, she’ll be getting her walking papers…again.

On tonight’s episode, Caroline brims with pride when her sons, Chris and Albie, announce their plans to get rich by selling black water. Jacqueline tries to mask the pain when the grand opening for Lauren’s cosmetic business brings her and her daughter Ashley face to face. Kathy hits the hookah with Jacqueline, Caroline, and Melissa, meanwhile Teresa cries over spilled ink when her brother finally attends her book signing.

Tonight is, sadly, the summer finale for what’s been an absolutely fantastic run of new episodes of Leverage. Last week’s episode was one I thought would be incredibly serious, and it was, simply due to the issue of the boy dying without a medical procedure, which sent Nate back to when he was dealing with his son dying. But it was also a very, very fun episode to see. Hardison learning how to land a plane by playing a video game just cracked me up. In fact, he has just slayed me almost every week this season! This week should be excellent, with the return of the team’s biggest nemesis. The finale episodes are always extra exciting, and I think tonight will be no different. Luckily, we only have to wait until the end of November for new episodes!

On tonight’s episode, Sterling manages to talk the team into a risky mission in which they will have to attempt to steal a nuclear reactor calibration weight from a fortified building that is altering its security procedures for an international chess tournament.

I am also looking forward to another new episode of The Great Food Truck Race tonight. Last week we lost the Devilicious truck, due to their own bargain pricing. Had they not taken $1 off everyone’s meals, they would still be in the game (they only lost by $159!). We also saw some clever game play last week, with the Korilla BBQ truck opting to keep their sausage-making supplies, instead of using them for the challenge. There’s been some very tough competition this season, and I’m really enjoying the show so far. I’m happy with the first two eliminations, but I would love to see the Café Con Leche truck gone next—are they here to dance and make coffee, or are they here to cook?!

In tonight’s episode, “Rocky Mountain Highs and Lows,” the six remaining trucks have 50 minutes to harvest mushrooms to create an original dish.

This season of Drop Dead Diva has been at its best. We’ve seen Stacey (April Bowlby) and Fred (Ben Feldman) evolve romantically, and we’ve seen Jane come into her own more. With that in mind, tonight’s case might have Jane (Brooke Elliott) biting off more than she can chew this time.

Tonight, Jane takes on a case that involves a potential health hazard at a school building. Unfortunately, it also involves one of the firm’s biggest clients. This does not make Parker (Josh Stamberg) happy at all, and it could mean dire consequences for Jane. Meanwhile, Teri (Margaret Cho) decides to attend a dating seminar that is being taught by her high school nemesis (guest star, Millionaire Matchmaker, Patti Stanger). Since Teri and dating aren’t an easy mix, add a badass blast from her past and she is sure to get into some trouble.
