If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/15/11

The first week into the fall season has been a gentle ride into the craziness that will be the next couple weeks to come. I’m so excited about so many shows that I’m starting to believe I may have an actual issue. *pondering* Okay, I definitely have an issue, but I’ve decided I’m also perfectly content with that. So, as I plan my slightly neurotic television schedule, let’s take a look at what’s on tonight.

Vampires, werewolves, and witches … oh my. I’m vibrating with excitment at the thought of this new delicious season of The Vampire Diaires starting tonight. Last season left us with lots of questions and a steamy kiss between Damon and Elena. Who knows where this season will take us.

In tonight’s premiere, on the morning of Elena’s 18th birthday, Caroline is busy planning a party, but Elena is focused on searching for any clues that might help her discover where Stefan is. Damon is also searching for Stefan, while trying to protect Elena and keep her from doing anything that would draw Klaus’ attention. Meanwhile, Klaus and Stefan are busy trailing a werewolf named Ray Sutton (guest star David Gallagher, 7th Heaven). Now working at the Mystic Grill along with Matt, Jeremy is struggling to understand why he keeps seeing the ghosts of Vicki and Anna, since he was brought back to life by Bonnie’s magic. Meanwhile, Alaric does his best to watch over Elena and Jeremy, while dealing with his grief over Jenna’s death. Finally, Caroline and Tyler face a new and unexpected challenge.

The Secret Circle is going to be one of your new favorite Fall shows. If you’re into the occult with witches and more, then you’re going to really love this new CW show. Cassie Blake (Britt Robertson, formerly of Life Unexpected) was a happy teenager until the death of her mother Amelia in a seemingly accidental tragic fire. Cassie moves in with her very loving grandmother in a small town called Chance Harbor in Washington. This so happens to be the very town her mother left many years before. The town is so small that ears are all over the place! It seems the residents know more about Cassie than she does herself!

Cassie begins to get to know her high school classmates, including sweet Diana and her very handsome boyfriend Adam. There is also brooding loner Nick, oh so mean girl Faye and her sidekick Melissa. Strange and unique occurrences begin to happen, and Cassie’s new friends don’t make it any less weird when they explain that they are all descended from powerful witches and have been waiting for Cassie to join them in order to complete a new generation of the Secret Circle.

Cassie refuses to believe them—that is, until Adam shows her just how she can unlock her magical abilities. However, it’s not until Cassie actually discovers a message from her mother in a very old leather-bound book of spells that is hidden away in her mother’s childhood bedroom that Cassie really, truly understands her unique destiny.

Tonight, on the premiere of The Secret Circle, after her mother dies in a mysterious accident, Cassie Blake moves to a small town in order to live with her grandmother. After a series of strange and dangerous events, Cassie’s new friends reveal a very big secret.

Tonight, Archer returns to FX for the start of a three week third season sneak peek. This hilarious, no-holds-barred series is part office comedy, part Austin Powers type spy spoof. This juxtaposition of the mundane office politics with spy missions makes for some great comedy. Being on a cable network allows Archer to get away with very much adult-themed stories, and just when you think it won’t go there, it does, and beyond!

In tonight’s episode, “Heart of Archness: Part I,” Archer is finally tracked down in the South Pacific by handsome adventurer Rip Riley.

Check it out tonight on FX at 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Archer @ Clicker.

I was actually planning to drop TVD this year, but will probably watch tonight’s premiere since it has no other competition at 8pm. I did watch The Secret Circle free via iTunes/iPad and was pleasantly surprised. It was much better than I would have thought. However, I tend to lose interest in these teen supernatural shows pretty quickly, so I don’t know if I’ll continue once the Fall season is in full swing.
