If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/19/11

Are you ready for what I think is probably the biggest night for TV this year? Seriously, tonight’s schedule is absolutely insane. One series finale, four season finales—one of which has three episodes total tonight, two series premieres, six season premieres—one of which has two episodes total tonight, twenty-six other new episodes, and four specials or sports games… It’s enough to drive any dedicated TV fan crazy! We tried (we really tried!) to pare it down for you, but even so, almost all of us have more than one pick for tonight. Sorry. 😉 (Ok, not really. *snort*) What do we think you MUST watch tonight? Read on and find out.

I debated for a long time about what to recommend for tonight. But the episode that I kept coming back to, the one I knew I had to put first, is the season premiere of Castle. Last season was absolutely explosive—from the episodes with the bomb and the freezer, visiting California, the murder case of Beckett’s mom and everything that entailed… Some of my most favorite Castle moments ever happened in the last two episodes last season. I will never forget Castle carrying Beckett out of the airplane hanger right before the hitman got there to kill Captain Montgomery. The way he held her as she screamed and cried, flailing against him to try and make him let her go. It was absolutely heartbreaking. Then… THEN! At Montgomery’s funeral, Castle saw the glint off the sniper’s gun and tried to save Beckett, but he was too late. She got shot right in front of him and lay dying as he professed his love. Pure thrilling drama at its best. That’s why tonight’s premiere is my top pick. Eek!

On tonight’s premiere, “Rise,” plagued by guilt over his role in the situation, Castle struggles to determine who is behind the brutal shooting of Detective Beckett. Ryan and Esposito attempt to adjust to Victoria “Iron” Gates, the precinct’s new uncompromising Captain.

It’s been a summer full of cooking competitions, but Hell’s Kitchen is clearly my favorite. Tonight is the season finale, and it’s been an interesting season. I’m not a fan of most of the people left, and I have to wonder what Gordon Ramsay has been thinking, keeping them around. We’re down to Paul, Will, Elise, and Tommy. I still despise Elise, so she can’t win. Tommy won’t be able to run a kitchen to save his life. That leaves us Paul and Will, and honestly, I think out of those two, Paul deserves to win.

On tonight’s episode, watch these chefs battle it out to see who will be the head chef at BLT Steak in NYC.

Get an inside look at the 60s and the magic and intrigue that happened at the infamous Playboy Club in Chicago with the new series The Playboy Club. Mobsters, eye candy, music, secrets, and legends—all of this combines for a show that will keep you glued to your seat and tuning in weekly. If you want some nostalgia that will provide goosebumps galore, you’re not going to want to miss out on watching the series premiere tonight.

The show stars Eddie Cibrian (CSI: Miami, Invasion, Third Watch), Laura Benanti (Eli Stone), Jenna Dewan Tatum, Leah Renee Cudmore (Runaway), Naturi Naughton, Amber Heard (Hidden Palms), David Krumholtz (Numb3rs), Wes Ramsey (CSI: Miami, Days of Our Lives), and Jenifer Lewis (The PJs, Girlfriends, Strong Medicine).

Tonight, club regular Nick Dalton helps a new bunny out of a very dangerous situation, while the club’s general manager tries to keep the mob from interfering with his business.

One of the returning shows I’m looking forward to tonight is How I Met Your Mother, which kicks off its seventh season with a double-bill of new episodes. At the end of last season, we discovered that in the future, Barney gets married—though we don’t know to whom—and Lily & Marshall decided to keep a newly-discovered pregnancy a secret. Will Barney and Robin get back together and eventually get married? How long can Lily and Marshall keep the pregnancy a secret? Will we EVER find out who the mother is?! When are we going to see more Robin Sparkles, or when will Marshall cash in another Slap? Hopefully these questions will be answered in the new season, while also making us laugh along the way!

In tonight’s premiere, “The Best Man,” Barney and Ted reminisce about Punchy’s wedding, while Robin considers confessing her feelings. Then, in “The Naked Truth,” Marshall worries videos he made in the past will put his dream job in jeopardy, and Ted must choose a date for the Architect’s Ball.

See the season premiere tonight on CBS at 8/7c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 8:30/7:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of How I Met Your Mother @ Clicker.

My second pick tonight is also a big episode. All season on Eureka, we’ve been gearing up toward the Astraeus space mission. Candidates were put through rigorous training and testing, and a couple of weeks ago, announcements were made as to who had been chosen. This week, Grace, Holly, Fargo, and Zane all prepare to leave Earth behind, but…This is Eureka. Nothing ever goes as planned, right? Tonight’s season finale should be fun and full of great moments. Knowing that next season is the last, though, makes it a bit sad, too. Hopefully we’ll see a great new episode that will leave us happy and anxious for more. I don’t have any doubts.

On tonight’s season finale, “One Giant Leap,” as an unforeseen development threatens the lives of everyone aboard the Astraeus ship, Carter finds himself dealing with a mysterious attack on the presidential convoy and a series of cosmic anomalies that are beginning to occur all over town.

Check it out tonight on Syfy at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Eureka @ Clicker.

What a long summer it’s been without my boyfriend on television. I can’t help myself; it’s hard not to appreciate the sexiness that is Alex O’Loughlin from Hawaii Five-0.

At the end of last season, the whole Five-0 team had gone to hell. We left Steve McGarrett (O’Loughlin) in jail because he’s being framed for the Govenor’s death. Danny (Scott Caan) watched the team he loves fall apart and failed to meet up with his pregnant ex-wife and daughter at the airport. Chin Ho went back to the police force, and Kono is in trouble for her part in the heist for the money. It’s a mess.

On tonight’s season premiere, McGarrett sits in prison awaiting trial for the murder of the governor, and Danny brings him a surprise visitor, (guest star Terry O’Quinn, Lost) to help clear him. Meanwhile, Kono is suspended from the force, pending an internal investigation.

Two Broke Girls? More like two hilarious girls! Kat Denning (Raising Dad) and Beth Behrs provide the one two punch needed for this show to succeed and bring the funny. Kat and Beth have incredible chemistry and will spice up your Monday night and clear the blues away that linger from your work day. Make sure you stretch before you watch this show, because your sides might be killing you after tonights series premiere!

This new comedy is about two young women waitressing at a greasy spoon diner who strike up an unlikely friendship in the hopes of launching a successful business—if only they can raise the cash. Sassy, streetwise Max (Dennings) works two jobs just to get by, one of which is waiting tables during the night shift at the retro-hip Williamsburg Diner. Sophisticated Caroline (Behrs) is an uptown trust fund princess who’s having a run of bad luck that forces her to reluctantly give waitressing a shot. Together, they may just work.

The show also stars Jonathan Kite (In the Flow with Affion Crockett), Brooke Lyons, Noah Mills, Garrett Morris (The Jamie Foxx Show), and Matthew Moy (Scrubs).

On tonight’s series premiere, experienced waitress Max Black teams up with her new coworker, formerly rich Caroline, for a unique business venture.

Jenny’s Honorable Mentions

There were way too many shows I thought were worth mentioning tonight, so I wanted to let you guys know about a couple more. Without going into a lot of details about each one, here are my three honorable mentions:

1—the series finale of The Protector on Lifetime at 11/10c. This was a great little show that I think did not get the recognition or the viewers it deserved. I’m going to be sad to see it go. If you’re a fan, don’t miss the final episode tonight.

2—the new episode of Warehouse 13 on Syfy at 9/8c. Next week is the season finale, but this week looks like it’s going to be a great episode, so I couldn’t *not* mention it. Myka and Pete attempt to find the cause of a number of people turning crazed and ravenous. Claudia grows anxious after a fortune-telling machine predicts her death at the end of the day. And Jinksy is back… Steve Jinks receives an appealing offer. (From who?? The people at the Warehouse, or the baddies?? Tune in and find out!)

3—the season premiere of Two and a Half Men on CBS at 9/8c. Charlie Sheen is gone. How will CBS and TPTB (The Powers That Be) handle that? Well, in case you’ve been living under a rock, Ashton Kutcher has joined the cast as internet billionaire Walden Schmidt, who buys Charlie’s house. What does that mean for Alan? What happened to Charlie? I haven’t been this excited for this show in a long time!
