If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/27/11

Last night was exciting, what with the series premiere of Terra Nova. It’s been a great week so far, and tonight continues with some great new episodes. What do we think you should watch? Read on and find out!

I’m going to be all about CBS picks tonight, but I’m going about it backward. One of my favorite new shows this season so far is Unforgettable, starring Poppy Montgomery and Dylan Walsh. I love the premise of this show—a woman with a VERY rare medical condition, which means she can remember everything. Not just stuff she reads, but everything she sees—and even things she doesn’t remember seeing. The only thing she can’t remember is anything about her sister’s murder from when they were kids. She quit the police force when things got to be too much for her, and after being a witness after the fact of her neighbor’s murder, she’s drawn back to the force. Poppy Montgomery is great in this, and Dylan Walsh is sexy. As Kyle would tell you, that’s part of why I like it, but really, the show itself made me want to come back for more, Dylan or no Dylan.

On tonight’s episode, when a young boy witnesses a murder, Carrie must put aside the memories of her sister’s death to help him lead the police to the killer.

I enjoyed every last minute of Glee’s season premiere last week, and I’m so excited for tonight’s episode. There are a lot of things that will be going on, including the return of Idina Menzel’s return as Rachel’s mother. That is going to make for an interesting show for not only Rachel, but also for Quinn and Puck. Where’s their daughter?

On tonight’s episode, Shelby Corcoran (Idina Menzel) returns to McKinley High and sings a song with Rachel. Will makes some of the glee kids attend a ‘boot camp,’ and Brittany offers to help Kurt in his campaign for student body president.

Find out if you can see in it what I’ve always seen when you tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Glee @ Clicker.

Another amazing episode of Ringer aired last week, and this show is proving to be very addicting! Sarah Michelle Gellar, as well as the storylines, have really transfixed viewers. Last episode, Gemma was even more suspicious that her husband Henry was cheating on her. Andrew’s partner took a few jabs at Siobhan, and his daughter took a few pills, which didn’t sit well with her. Bridget was faced with the task of having to get rid of the body of the assassin while having to deal with a social event in her new digs. How that woman can juggle all of that and try to keep Agent Machado at bay is beyond me! Tune in to watch an all new episode tonight!

On tonight’s episode, things between Bridget and Andrew become tense when she uncovers some information about him. Agent Machado looks for Bridget, and Henry and Gemma argue over an investment.

Last week on NCIS: LA, the team rescued Hetty. Did anyone else think Lauren Hunter was a bad guy—undercover at NCIS, rather than undercover with the Comescu family? I was under that impression until she shot Alexa Comescu, rather than Callen. It’ll be interesting to see if we get to see the reactions once the team got back, since they all resigned to go overseas to find Hetty.

On tonight’s episode, “Cyber Threat,” the NCIS team joins forces with the NSA to find the creator and controller of a software program linked to a cyber attack against the Department of Defense. Meanwhile, Callen continues searching for more information about his past.

Tonight the first season of Awkward comes to an end. I have really enjoyed this wacky comedy about high schooler Jenna Hamilton, who has a near-death accident that leads to rumors that she attempted suicide. I like that this show has chosen not to make Jenna a social outcast. Instead, she’s just like any normal teenager with typical high school problems. This makes the series feel very real—even with the outrageousness that ensues. It seems like no topic is off-limits, and they have really taken advantage of their 11pm/cable time-slot to push the boundaries. Not only is the series well written, but they have a talented and hilarious cast of side characters, as well, such as Jenna’s “popular girl” nemesis and the school counselor who a severe lack of personal boundaries and seems to have more issues than her students.

In tonight’s double-episode finale, “Fateful; I Am Jenna Hamilton,” Jenna wants Matty to ask her to the winter formal, Sadie taints Jenna’s nomination, and Tamara’s love life takes a surprising turn.

MTV is airing a marathon of the entire 1st season before tonight’s finale, from 12pm-5pm ET today.

Check it out tonight on MTV at 11/10c. Learn where to find episodes online of Awkward @ Clicker.

It’s rare that a comedy grabs me from the first joke, but the New Girl pilot did that last week. I am in love with Zooey Deschanel and her perfect comedic timing. The guys are hilarious, too, and I particularly enjoy the douche bag jar. We all secretly want one of those, don’t we? 😉

On tonight’s episode, the guys help Jess get her stuff out of her ex’s apartment, and Winston (Lamorne Morris), their old roomate, returns from playing basketball overseas and moves back into the loft.

The new season of Raising Hope sure got off to a hilarious start! We learned that Jimmy used to be an incredible musical artist—that is, until his father Burt accidentally hit him in the head with a miniature golf club. When Jimmy was younger, he could make the girls swoon with his singing voice. He used to have jam sessions with his dad, but when his mom paid too much attention to him, Burt got jealous and things went downhill from there. Jimmy wanted to try and get his memory back that he has been lacking ever since the golf club incident in order to try and impress Sabrina. As usual, he didn’t stand, well, a chance!

Tonight, Burt lets the family in on some information that he has learned about Sabrina. Also, the Chance family meets Sabrina’s family!

Last week’s NCIS saw the resolution of the storyline that started last season, with Tony finding the mole in NCIS. Did anyone else guess wrong on who it was? I honestly was not expecting it to be Cade! We saw E.J. Barrett again—and while I was hoping the shots that were fired at her would hit her, they didn’t. *snicker* I just don’t like her and I don’t like her with Tony, so if she stays gone, I’m happy. She’s not in tonight’s episode, so that’s good. 😉

On tonight’s episode, “Restless,” the homecoming party for a beloved marine turns deadly when he shows up with a fatal stab wound, leaving the NCIS team to uncover a startling surprise in his squeaky clean past.

  1. Kyle says:

Whaaaat? Would I say that to you, Jenny?! 😉

I’m also eally looking forward to the new Raising Hope tonight, but I think it may be time for me to move on from New Girl–just haven’t felt the same as I did after my initial screener viewing. Maybe it’s just part of my subconscious trying to help eliminate all those overlaps between Megan & my picks! 🙂

  2. Jenny says:

Uh oh… That doesn’t bode well for me for New Girl…Hopefully I’ll enjoy it! 🙁

  3. Megan says:

I still like New Girl, and Kyle you’ll never fully eliminate our over lapping picks, because face it great minds think alike. I have a great mind, and you want to think like me. 😉 And we can’t be exactly alike because I don’t watch Raising hope. 🙂

Ringer has been dropped by me… :'( Farewell SMG.

Jenny there is nothing wrong with watching a show for eye candy… there is a lot of it on a lot of shows, but as long as the story is good you get your cake and eat it too 😉 NCIS:LA yummy cast, and good stories! lol

  4. Kyle says:

As much as like SMG, I never returned to Ringer after that pilot. I usually give most shows 2-3 episodes before deciding to drop them, but with the CW and ABCF, sometimes they only have one shot to impress the judge, and I gave Ringer 4 NO’s.
I’ll give New Girl the benefit of the doubt and one more watch. The quality of the sound on the FOX screener for tonight’s episode was so bad & maybe that influenced my opinion.

  5. Jenny says:

Nah, I agree. Nothing wrong with eye candy. *laugh*

I never even started Ringer, unfortunately. As much as I was hoping to because of SMG, the reviews and recaps just totally turned me off the show. It’s much too Pretty Little Liars-ish to me. lol Yes, Kyle, the whole CW/ABCFam stuff for me is the same way. heh

Oh, and isn’t the sound on the FOX screeners HORRIBLE? I always have to have my volume all the way up, and even with headphones on, I can still barely hear. 🙁
