If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/6/11

You’re already ready for the weekend. Let’s face it…who isn’t? This week has been lackluster for you at work, but thank goodness you’ve had the escape of TV to turn to with all new episodes of old and new favorite shows. We also saw the first cancelation and pick ups of some Fall TV programs. The Playboy Club was the first on the chopping block, while Whitney, 2 Broke Girls, Up All Night, and New Girl have all gotten full season pick ups. There is a lot to be excited about and thankful for, so enjoy the end of the week with some must see TV tonight!

Community has become a fixture for fans because of its quirky and off beat humor and writing. The study group has found its niche, and now they are tackling Biology together. Chang has become a security guard on campus, and Britta has been struggling with her identity. She used to be a big activist for, well, just about anything. But now she’s settled into college life and seems to want to rebel once again. Annie is still stuck in control freak mode. She has to be the best at everything—case in point, the Mock UN last episode. With the two steps forward that these characters take, they inevitably end up taking two steps back. But it comes with a lot of laughs for the viewers!

Tonight, the study group struggles to decide on how people should pair off for their first big Biology assignment. Also, Chang imagines himself in a noir detective mystery while he patrols the campus.

I am REALLY enjoying the new show Person of Interest. Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson are fantastic as the leads. The premise of getting only Social Security numbers to lead them to a victim or perpetrator of a violent crime is absolutely the most unique show on TV in a while and pretty damn cool. Last week dealt with a young girl whose family had all been killed and she was on the run and in hiding from the killers, who needed her out of the way so they could benefit from some business dealings of her inheritance. I just really love it and think it should definitely be something you check out!

On tonight’s episode, when the Machine directs Reese and Finch to a former Marine with shady connections to a crime ring, Reese must infiltrate the gang, taking part in their heist. Meanwhile, Detective Carter is closer than ever to finding out who Reese is.

Check it out tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Person of Interest @ Clicker.

Last week on The Big Bang Theory, we saw Leonard as Amy’s date to a wedding, and it was hilarious. I loved how she was schooling him on being polite, and then after the date, she thought he was in love with her. 🙂 The best part of the whole episode, though, was when Sheldon got jealous of Leonard’s date with Amy and he karate chopped Leonard. That was great, and I like where it’s going with Sheldon and Amy possibly getting into a real relationship.

On tonight’s episode, “The Wiggly Finger Catalyst,” Raj meets a woman he’s actually able to talk to.

Tonight is the third season premiere of The League, a show for which there should be no logical reason for me to enjoy, but I do. If anything, I am an anti-sports fan (the only sports I see each week are when I turn on my TV at 7pm on Sundays to see how football overruns are going to affect my CBS and FOX lineups). However, I love this comedy about a group of friends competing with one another in a Fantasy Football league. I think it’s because the series does not completely concentrate on the sports aspect. Instead, we get to see how this competition bleeds into the everyday lives of the group, getting them to do anything and everything to gain an advantage for the league. All of the cast is hilarious, but one of my favorite characters on the show is Taco, who is always coming up with these totally inappropriate and completely un-P.C. songs, and the reactions are so funny. This is definitely a show worth drafting onto your DVR roster! (I have no idea if that was proper sports-speak :))

In tonight’s episode, “The Lockout,” the terrible reign of Ruxin continues while the guys devise a grand plan with Rafi and Dirty Randy for Andre’s final Sacko punishment.

The siege with Stefan and Klaus has continued. With double trouble on the prowl, no one has been safe—not even Elena. The Vampire Diaries continues to give fans something they can take a big bite out of and sink their teeth into! Elena and Damon are still trying to deal with their feelings, all while hunting down Stefan. And fans have been wondering where Bonnie has been since she’s been MIA already for most of this season. With all the juicy drama going on, fans have been transfixed to this supernatural sensation.

Tonight, Klaus, determined to find out why his plan isn’t working, seeks some guidance from a witch he knew long ago. Meanwhile, a frustrating new foe pushes Damon over the edge, and Caroline tries to get Elena to confront her feelings.

I know it’s probably not a popular choice, but I’m enjoying the new Charlie’s Angels. For me, it’s all about suspending disbelief when I watch TV. And sure, this show kind of forces that suspension, but if you can do that, it’s really just fun, mindless entertainment. If nothing else, there’s lots of pretties to look at. 😉

On tonight’s episode, “Bon Voyage, Angels,” when an investigative journalist goes missing from a cruise ship, the Angels take the case, which is tied to more details about Kate’s past. This time, the Angels have to infiltrate what they think is a floating, high-stakes poker game in order to track down the woman who compromised Kate’s career.

I love everything about The Mentalist, but I really, really love Patrick Jane (Simon Baker). When Jane gets an idea in his head, he never lets it go. Was I the only one that found the blind lady feeling the dead man’s face last episode creepy? I would not be in line to touch a dead body—Ick. To be honest, I was really hopeful that he had finally found and killed Red John, for many reasons. One, so Jane gets some closure, but two, so we can move on to a new obsession. Anyone else feel that way?

On tonight’s episode, “Pretty Red Balloon,” Jane looks for a missing child at the request of the mother, who is one of Jane’s former clients from his career as a psychic, and he clashes with the woman’s spiritual advisor.

To see if Jane can close yet another case, tune in to CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Mentalist @ Clicker.

  1. Megan says:

Kyle- The fact that there is a character named Taco in itself is completely inappropriate and un PC 🙂 But that’s why it’s perfect. For the record that was proper sports speak.

I am not an American football fan, but I do enjoy Hockey, Nascar, and real football (aka Soccer).

Jenny- I just can’t get into Charlie’s Angels, and that’s okay because my Thursdays are already incredibly busy.

  2. Tara says:

Tara’s choice of Grey’s Anatomy is going to be the clear winner!! Just kidding. Sorry—way too much coffee today! 🙂

  3. Kyle says:

I still watch/enjoy Grey’s Anatomy. I figure if I made it through the Ghost Denny years, I’m in for the rest of the show’s run! 🙂

  4. Jenny says:

Hah. See, I gave up on Grey’s when no one could ever just be freakin happy for a while! Argh! lol

  5. Tara says:

I came back after Izzy left. She was annoying to say the least!

  6. Megan says:

I watch Greys and I used to like Izzy before ghost Denny. I loved her in the first season.
