If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/21/11

There are so many times in a TV addict’s life where TV becomes a break from life… true story. Such is my week, so I am so excited that Friday night is here. Friday is a great night of television, and I think it’s going to be a fabulous break from life for everyone. Let’s take a look at what you should be watching tonight.

Week after week, Blue Bloods continues to deliver amazing drama and superb acting. The cast is solid, always portraying their characters in such a fashion that we can’t help but join in the drama that’s unfolding on the screen. One of my favorite parts of every episode is the family dinners and the Reagan family bantering over issues. It’s always entertaining and heartwarming to see a family that stands by each other, even when they completely disagree. What’s your favorite part of the show?

On tonight’s episode, “A Night on the Town,” Danny and Linda plan a romantic weekend, but a case keeps disrupting their agenda. Meanwhile, Jamie works undercover inside a crime family.

To see if the family’s boy wonder, Jamie, can hold his own while swimming with the big fish, tune in to CBS at 10/9c. You won’t be sorry you did! Learn where to find episodes online of Blue Bloods @ Clicker.

My first pick tonight is the series premiere of Boss on Starz. This new drama stars Kelsey Grammer (Back to You, Frasier, Cheers), as Mayor Tom Kane, who sits like a spider at the center of Chicago’s web of power—a web built on a covenant with the people. They want to be led, they want disputes settled, jobs dispensed, and loyalties rewarded. If he achieves through deception and troubling morality, so be it. As long as he gets the job done, they look the other way. Yet despite being the most effective mayor in recent history, a degenerative brain disorder is ripping everything away from him. He can’t trust his memory, his closest allies, or even himself. Kane’s wife Meredith (Connie Nielsen, Law & Order: SVU, Gladiator) knows nothing. Theirs is a marriage of convenience. Kitty O’Neil (Kathleen Robertson, Beverly Hills 90210), Kane’s advisor, has her suspicions, but stays silent. And Kane’s political advisor Ezra Stone (Martin Donovan, Unnatural History, Weeds), a Yale graduate with a rough edge, remains questionless. Only Emma (Hannah Ware), Kane’s estranged daughter, has a chance of learning his secret. This is going to be the toughest term yet for the Boss. The series also stars Jeff Hephner (Hellcats, The O.C.), Francis Guinan, Rotimi Akinosho, & Troy Garity (The Playboy Club).

On tonight’s episode, “Listen,” Mayor Tom Kane has just discovered he has a serious medical condition, but must focus on the upcoming gubernatorial primary while attempting to reconcile with his distant wife and estranged daughter.

Tonight is the season finale of Strike Back. Last week, Col. Grant was just about to reveal the truth about Trojan Horse to Sgt. Scott, until she discovered he was (getting) busy. Meanwhile, Sgt. Stonebridge’s wife continued to pressure him to leave Section 20, and Latif was finally captured. This show is such a fun, over-the-top adrenaline rush, with some absurdly gratuitous sex scenes (probably to keep the Skinemax crowd happy). This season was broken down into a series of two-week stories, with some season-long arcs throughout. This worked out quite well, giving us what felt like a series of action/adventure movie sequels. I can’t wait for tonight’s action-packed finale, and am happy that Cinemax has already picked up the series for another season.

In tonight’s season finale, Stonebridge and Scott are in a race against time to find a pair of suicide bombers targeting Budapest.

I’m really enjoying Nikita each week. The last episode showed the return of Katheryn Winnick, who is simply adorable and sexy (thank goodness she’s gone from Bones, or I’d just hate her! lol). Her character was the perfect friend/foe/whatever for Nikita & Alex both. We were able to learn more about how Nikita faked her death and escaped Division, giving us a good glimpse into somewhat of a reason why Nikita is the way she is now. Sometimes to escape a bad situation, we have to step on someone else in order to pull it off, and for Nikita, Kelly was that person. Unfortunately for her, she had to shoot Kelly to save Alex. Will that affect how Alex views Nikita? Only time will tell.

On tonight’s episode, “Looking Glass,” Michael discovers Cassandra (guest star Helena Mattsson), a woman he once romanced under Division orders, is in danger. Feeling guilty for how things ended, he wants to help her but Nikita suspects there is more to it than easing his conscience. Amanda manipulates Alex into helping her on a mission, but Sean gets caught in Amanda’s web of lies and begins to doubt Division’s true motives.

Tune in tonight on The CW at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Nikita @ Clicker.
