If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/26/11

As much as I don’t like to watch sports and hate how overruns mess up my Sunday nights, I have really appreciated the light DVR line-ups we’ve been having lately thanks to baseball! It has actually been quite easy to not only keep up with all the new episodes, but also catch up on my backlog (which included the first 5 episodes of Revenge, which I am now really enjoying, despite my initial negative opinions!) Enjoy another light night of TV, but still loaded with a lot of great new episodes!

Tonight is the second season finale of Top Chef: Just Desserts. Last week, the chefs had to come up with something that looked like a common savory dish, but tasted like a dessert. Orlando’s paella dessert did not measure up, and he was sent packing. We are now down to the final three—Matthew, Chris, and Sally. I am really happy, because I like all 3 of them! Matthew and Sally have both won 4 challenges, while Chris is also a strong contender, but only has one win under his apron. Last week, Chris used pre-packaged puff pastry, and if he takes another short cut like that tonight, there is no way he will win. I’m looking forward to seeing what tasty treats the chefs cook up tonight!

In tonight’s finale, the final contestants battle it out in a grand treat heat inspired by a distinguished pastry competition—the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France. The drama culminates with the selection of the winning chef.

Check it out tonight on Bravo at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Top Chef: Just Desserts @ Clicker.

When I participated in a call with James Roday and Dule Hill, stars of USA Network’s Psych, I have to admit I was pumped about the idea of a vampire-themed episode. Yes, I full admit to being a Twilight junkie. lol Well, tonight is that night. Yay! Last week’s episode, where the boys—including Woody, the coroner—all woke up one morning in the Psych office (or in Henry’s case, a motel room) without any memory of the night before. The whole episode was hysterical, as they raced to try and figure out their actions, how they’d ended up where they did, and if Lassie killed a man. It was my favorite episode in a while, and I’m hoping that trend continues tonight.

On tonight’s episode, “This Episode Sucks,” Lassiter’s new relationship with a mysterious and beautiful woman is placed in jeopardy when Shawn and Gus are convinced she is a murderer—the same murderer responsible for the blood-drained body SBPD is investigating. Kristy Swanson (the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Corey Feldman (from the vampire movie The Lost Boys) guest star.

Last episode of Revenge, we learned that Nolan had planted a little spying device at Emily’s house, and it ended up backfiring on him. As Lydia tried to harass Emily into giving her her house back, Emily obliged in packing up some of Lydia’s belongings, which included the sculpture that Nolan had hid his camera in. When Victoria doesn’t take too kindly to Lydia’s presence, she instructs her henchmen Frank to put an end to Lydia’s menacing way. Unfortunately, Lydia made a very dramatic exit, one in which she will not be giving a repeat performance of…ever again. Also, Danny learned of his friend Tyler’s betrayal and decided not to go to work for his father, but to go to work as a bartender at Jack and Declan’s bar. Never a dull moment in the Hamptons when it comes to revenge.

Tonight, when incriminating surveillance video surfaces, the Graysons begin to distrust Frank, their head of security. Also, the tension between Emily and Tyler comes to a head, and the Proter boys make their moves.

I love the relationship between Tessa and George on Suburgatory. Their chemistry is so good, you almost believe they are father/daughter. I am not loving Dallas or her daughter, but I am curious where they are taking the whole George/Dallas relationship. If they make it all blended family for long term, I think that Tessa will lose her mind.

On tonight’s episode, “Halloween,” George tries to change Dallas’ low opinion of Halloween by showing her the fun side of fear, but he’s in for a shock when her frequently traveling husband (Jay Mohr, Gary Unmarried, Ghost Whisperer) comes home unannounced. Meanwhile, Tessa’s costume rubs the locals the wrong way.

Last week on The Middle, Axl made up a scheme in order to get out of a Spanish test, which involved him pretending to be sick. When a party he’s interested in attending comes up, he’s got a way to fake being unsick, but then fake being sick again once he learns that he only missed PART of the Spanish test. If you ever need a mid-week pick me up, then you don’t need to look any further than The Middle. This show is the perfect balance of life lessons and tons of hilariously awkward family moments for the Heck family. There is one or more characters that you can relate to, or you can just watch to unwind and be thankful how good you have it compared to the Hecks. Whatever the reason you watch The Middle, you’re going to end up smiling from ear to ear after you’ve tuned in.

Tonight, Sue wears an embarrassing costume to a Halloween party and turns to her father Mike for advice. Frankie takes Brick’s social-skills group trick-or-treating, and Axl and his friends plan a prank.

One of the best new comedies of the last couple of seasons is ABC’s Happy Endings. Ever since Friends, there have been shows about groups of friends in their 20s. They can be great, or they can be bad. Luckily for us, Happy Endings is one of the good. The relationships between each of the characters are what makes the show. Each person and each relationship brings something to the table and makes it worth watching.

On tonight’s special Halloween episode, “Spooky Endings,” Jane and Brad spend a scary Halloween house sitting for friends in the suburbs, while the rest of the gang heads to a warehouse party, where their respective costumes don’t quite have the effect they anticipated, especially for Alex and Dave.
