If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/28/11

Did everyone have a good holiday & break from work/school? We had a great visit up in Iowa with my husband’s family, although I hate traveling in general. I was glad to be back home and in my own bed! Today, we started preparing for Christmas, actually figuring out what we already have and what we still need to buy. Lots to go, unfortunately. So what little new TV is on this week, I’m going to be glad to see, just to give me something to relax to and forget all the holiday preparation! You?

One of my favorite new shows in the last few years is last season’s Rizzoli & Isles on TNT. I’ve always loved Angie Harmon, and the role of Jane Rizzoli is perfect for her. She has phenomenal chemistry with Sasha Alexander, who plays Medical Examiner Maura Isles. The show is based on the book series by Tess Gerritsen, which I love. Rizzoli is a homicide cop, gruff around the edges, but damn good at what she does. She’s joined by her mother, played by the amazing Lorraine Bracco, and brother, Jordan Bridges, as well as fellow police officers, Bruce McGill & Lee Thompson Young. It’s a fun cop show, with a great hook of having the two best friends working so closely in the same field. Tonight is the first new episode in two months, and I’m excited, because it’s appointment TV.

On tonight’s episode, “Can I Get a Witness?” a witness agrees to testify against a gang member after a community activist is gunned down; TV host Bill O’Reilly criticizes the police department. Roselyn Sanchez (Without a Trace) guest stars.

Check it out tonight on TNT at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Rizzoli & Isles @ Clicker.

I love a show that has heart, and Hart of Dixie has that and so much more. Week after week, we watch as Zoe (Rachel Bilson) attempts to fit into the town. Last week, we watched the train wreck that was her homecoming party. She got help from her party planning friend from New York, and that ended up in crazy drinks, yucky food, and her friend sleeping with the veterinarian that Zoe was considering dating. In the end, Zoe realized that she has changed too much for New York, and still not quite enough for Blue Bell. We did get to see a touching friendship moment between Zoe and Lavon, which shows that at least she is making some friends.

In tonight’s episode, “Planksgiving in Bluebell,” the people of Bluebell are preparing for their annual Planksgiving celebration, and Zoe is counting down the days until she goes back to New York for Thanksgiving. Getting out of town is proving to be difficult, because she has to meet her thirty percent quota of patients before midnight, or she’ll lose her share of the practice to Brick (Tim Matheson). Meanwhile, Lavon tells Wade to come clean about his feelings for Zoe, and George’s father (guest star Eric Pierpoint) offers him a job opportunity at his law firm in Montgomery.

To see if Zoe can get the patients she needs in time, or if Wade finally fesses up about his love for Zoe, tune in to The CW at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hart of Dixie @ Clicker.

I’ve really been enjoying this season of House. Last week, House and the gang discovered that their pregnant patient who claimed to be a virgin actually had Dissociative Identity Disorder, and House’s insistence on breaking his house arrest allowed him to prevent a small boy from dying from a rare genetic disorder, but also put him further in the dog house with Foreman. Meanwhile, an extremely Australian Chase appeared on a morning news medical segment. This season has continued to be a lot of fun—even with the larger diagnostic team. The one part of this show that I have always loved the most is when House is being manipulative and sneaky to get what he wants, and it looks like tonight’s episode has Wilson and House in a competition to see who is more clever. Sounds like a recipe for hilarity!

In tonight’s episode, “Perils of Paranoia,” a prosecutor collapses in court, and the initial team diagnosis of hyperanxiety is called into question when Adams and Park investigate his home. Meanwhile, Wilson suspects that House is hiding something in his home, Park begins to shed her social shell, and Foreman’s lack of romantic activity intrigues Taub and Chase. Yaya DaCosta (Ugly Betty, All My Children) guest stars.

Brenda Lee Johnson and her dream team police squad are back with a handful of all new episodes. The Closer returns and picks back up after the shocking cliffhanger fans were left with when Brenda Lee won her lawsuit, but a whole other can of worms was opened up. Picking back up where we last left off, Brenda’s career still is riddled in turmoil. She is on active duty, but her life hasn’t gotten any easier, and there doesn’t seem to be clear skies nearing in the future. In the meantime, she’ll fight tooth and nail and won’t skip a beat in order to solve crimes and keep the streets safe.

On tonight’s episode, “Necessary Evil,” when a high school principal dies after trying to clear his school from scandal, Brenda and Fritz find themselves fighting over who has control of the case because of an already existing investigation that has caused the cases to overlap.

Tune in to TNT at 9/8c for an all new episode! Learn where to find episodes online of The Closer @ Clicker.

It’s not my usual suggestion, but I have to admit that I loved last season of Next Great Baker, and I’m excited for tonight’s second season premiere. Combine Buddy with 13 contestants and challenges to see who has the talent it takes to be The Next Great Baker—it’s a hilarious and enjoyable competition. If they don’t make the cut, they’ll be sent to the box truck, until there is one left standing.

On tonight’s season premiere, “It’s Go Time!” the competitors are split up into teams to work on a 4-foot-tall theme cake, but Buddy’s immunity challenge will also require individuals to stand out.

To see if you can find a favorite contestant, tune in to TLC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Next Great Baker @ Clicker.
