If We Controlled Your Remote – 12/4/11

The holidays are upon us, so I’m getting excited about all the holiday episodes that will be coming our way. Although I’m also a little sad, because during the holidays, we are going to be low on new television. 🙁 *deep breath* Before I have a panic attack about the coming lack of television, let’s enjoy the new TV that is on tonight. Check out what you should be watching.

I love fairytales, and television, so the combination of both is delicious to me. Once Upon a Time is an amazing show that constantly pulls at your heart strings while entertaining your inner child with stories of our youth, spun into a TV show. Last week, we saw Emma and Archie save Henry from a sinkhole, and that made Regina very unhappy. We got to see how Jiminy Cricket came to be who he is. I loved every minute of this episode and am looking forward to tonight’s new episode.

On tonight’s episode, “The Shepherd,” David must choose between staying with Kathryn or leaving her to be with Mary Margaret, with whom he’s fallen deeply, and inexplicably, in love.

To see if true love will prevail, tune in to ABC at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Once Upon a Time @ Clicker.

My first pick tonight is part one of the Syfy mini-series, Neverland. Syfy tends to do some great TV shows, but their original movies are…cheesy, at best. Their mini-series events like Neverland are usually great, though. If you enjoyed Tin Man and Alice, be sure and check out the newest!

This original prequel to author J.M. Barrie’s classic Peter Pan sweeps in time from the turbulent seas of the pirates of the Caribbean and the back alleys of Dickensian London to a world of pure imagination. The film stars Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man) as James Hook, Oscar nominee Keira Knightley as the voice of Tinker Bell, Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies) as Captain Elizabeth Bonny, Oscar nominee Bob Hoskins as Smee (who previously played the character in Steven Spielberg’s feature Hook), Raoul Trujillo (Tin Man) and Charlie Rowe (Pirate Radio) as one of literature’s most cherished characters, Peter Pan.

Check it out tonight on Syfy at 9/8c.

Last week on Dexter, they finally revealed the “twist” that many, including myself, saw coming from the first episode of the season. Dexter finally realized that Geller has been dead the entire time, and that Travis (perhaps unknowingly) has been the Doomsday Killer all along. It seems like Dexter has been getting a bit sloppy lately, leaving around a lot of witnesses to his dark behavior. Last week, we discovered that computer programmer Louis is the person who purchased the Ice Truck Killer evidence. Earlier in the season, he got Dexter to switch to using his fancy search engine, and I suspect Louis is tracking everything Dexter is doing on his laptop. When Dexter starts cleaning up all of these loose ends he’s left around this season, I don’t think Louis will be long for this world.

While this season of Dexter certainly isn’t its best, I hope that now that this Geller “twist” is known to Dexter, we can make some progress toward resolving the Doomsday Killer case. I did really enjoy last week’s scenes of Deb in the psychiatrist’s office. As she detailed her long list of misfortunes, you could see the dollar signs and book deals in the eyes of her shrink.

On tonight’s episode, “Ricochet Rabbit,” Dexter races to identify the Doomsday Killer’s next victim. Meanwhile, Debra’s surprising reaction to a crime scene leads her to wonder if she depends too much on her brother.

Pan Am returns tonight with an all new episode, and show fans are not going to want to miss a sultry moment of it. As the promo has teased, there will be sex, lies, and spies…and then some! We last left off with Clipper Majestic Captain Dean and stewardess Colette sharing a sweet kiss, and fans have been crying out waiting with baited breath in anticipation for what’s to come next. This past week, there has been a lot of buzz going around about whether the show will be canceled, but as of now, there will be five new episodes of this adventurous show. Show your support for this must see show by tuning in and tweeting your love for this captivating program.

Tonight, when the crew lands in London, Ted enlists Laura’s help in order to make an old flame named Amanda Mason (guest star Ashley Greene, The Twilight Saga movies) jealous, and things do not go as expected. Also, Kate attempts to try and regain her freedom from her CIA courier duties by agreeing to one last mission for her handsome British contact Anderson, but this dangerous assignment not only puts her life in danger, but his, as well. Maggie goes toe to toe with a Congressman who disagrees with her political views, but things take a sudden turn and begin to heat up when she tries to change his mind about his beliefs and ends up sparking an intense attraction with him. Back at home, Dean takes Colette to meet his parents, and the sparks between the two that have been brewing for a long time become enflamed!

I came to a conclusion last week when Marcus Samuelsson went home on The Next Iron Chef. I think Food Network is pushing for a female winner. Now, my top vote is still Anne Burrell, but honestly, I think Marcus should have stayed over Elizabeth Falkner. For some reason, she just grates on my nerves. She’s not very personable on camera—the complete opposite of Anne Burrell, for example—and I just don’t enjoy watching her at all. The competition with Marcus was pretty damn close, and I felt like it could have gone his way easily, so I think to give themselves a greater shot at having a new female Iron Chef, they sent Marcus home. *shrug* Maybe that’s just me. 😉 Tonight’s episode looks like it’ll be really fun, so I can’t wait to see what the last 5 chefs give us tonight! Also, stick around after for the new episode of Iron Chef America, as Morimoto battles Michael Symon in a holiday-themed battle of epic proportions!

On tonight’s episode, “Food Auction,” the five remaining competitors journey to an auction house, where Alton Brown and the Chairman challenge the chefs to bid on ingredients using increments of time, and the winning chef will prepare an exciting dish to be judged on its risk factor.

We are getting to the last of the teams on The Amazing Race, and the pressure is building. Last week, the contestants got to drive some incredibly, fabulous Ford Mustang. That was a fun challenge! I was so jealous. That would have been awesome. 🙂 Bill and Cathy were eliminated, but what a long run they had.

On tonight’s episode, “We are Charlie Chaplin (Panama City),” the final four teams travel to Panama City, Panama, where they face their fear of heights during a challenge.

I had forgotten just how much I missed Leverage until I saw last week’s episode. The gang was seeking retribution for a woman whose father was killed by a secret society of college students doing psychiatric experiments for the CIA. Hardison went undercover as a pledge for the secret society, while Eliot posed as a homeless vet looking to earn some cash by participating in their experiments. This show feels like Mission: Impossible with a lot more levity. (In a lot of ways, it reminds me of the UK series Hustle.) This cast works great together—all of the characters are so likeable and so much fun. I especially like Parker and Hardison’s relationship, which is teetering more and more toward the romantic side.

In tonight’s episode, “The Office Job,” the scam squad tries to bust an embezzlement scheme and thereby save a business. They embed themselves in the company, but the seemingly simple mission takes a complicated turn when they’re thrust into a documentary that’s being filmed at the office.

My family & I have been enjoying Around the World in 80 Ways. My husband & I have always liked Boston Rob, and it’s fun seeing him and co-host Dennis Anderson picking at each other until they get irritated. It’s so much like brothers that it makes me giggle. They have had some crazy ways of traveling, and I’m sad that tonight is the season finale. I’m not sure they could do another season after this—what else could they use to travel??—but if they do, I’m in!

On tonight’s episode, “Such Great Heights,” it’s the last stop for Dennis and Rob! Final destination: the City of Angels in beautiful California. They ate, they drank, they traveled around the world. This bittersweet end of the journey has our heroes riding cupcake cars and breaching the salty sea like dolphins. From heli-skiing to falling out of the sky, Dennis and Rob reach great heights while searching for the final “ways” before their adventure comes to an end.
