If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/3/12

Happy Birthday, Scott! Today is my husband’s birthday, and what a birthday present…the kid goes back to school today, too! LOL It’s not my birthday, but it feels like it, what with all the great new episodes tonight. We have a good list of shows we think you should watch, so check it out below!

On the last episode of NCIS, Gibbs delivered a baby while Ziva fought a bad guy, all while we listened to Christmas music. It was a little bizarre, but it was a great episode. Palmer grew up a lot, after spending the whole episode catering to and being belittled by his future father-in-law. He finally stood up to the man, defending his team and showing the man how what he and the gang do there at NCIS is important. Saving a woman having a baby went a long way to doing that. Tonight’s episode brings back something/someone very personal for Tony. I’ve never liked E.J. Barrett, so hopefully tonight is the last time we’ll see her. *laugh*

On tonight’s epsiode, “Housekeeping,” the investigation into the murder of a Navy Commander leads the NCIS team to E.J. Barrett’s whereabouts. Matt Craven, Scott Wolf, & Sarah Jane Morris guest star.

ABC Family has had a few great hits recently – Pretty Little Liars and Switched at Birth, to name a few. Tonight is the premiere of what I am sure is going to become an instant hit – Jane By Design. I have seen the first two episodes, and it is an excellent show, with a perfect balance of drama, comedy, and heart.

We follow Jane (Erica Dasher, The Lake), a teenager who lands a job at Donovan Decker, a fashion house, when they mistake her for an adult. Jane soon finds herself juggling both life as a high school student and as an assistant to a high powered executive, Gray Chandler Murray (Andie MacDowell) in the cutthroat world of fashion…all while trying to keep her real identity a secret.

I loved the premise of this story, but what I really love is the chemistry between Jane and her best friend, Billy (Nicholas Roux, Lemonade Mouth). The dialogue for the whole show is very witty and encourages the viewers to fall in love with the cast quickly. Don’t write this off as just another teen show, because it’s more than worth your time.

To check out this new and awesome show, tune in to ABC Family at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Jane By Design @ Clicker.

Tonight is the winter season premiere of Switched at Birth on ABC Family. Last season, Bay Kennish, an artistic teenager who grew up in a wealthy, two-parent home with her brother, discovered she was accidentally switched at birth with Daphne Vasquez, who was raised by a single mother and contracted an illness that left her deaf at a young age. Once the girls learned of the switch, Daphne and her mother, Regina, moved into the Kennish’s guest house. The girls also discover that Regina had herself learned of the switch years earlier, but kept it a secret. Also, Bay and Daphne’s best friend, Emmett (who is also deaf) develop feelings for one another, but this upset Daphne, who suddenly realized that perhaps she, too, has feelings for him. Meanwhile, Bay sought out her birth father and wondered what else Regina has been hiding all these years.

I was pleasantly surprised by this show when it first started this past summer. It was quite well done, and they managed to keep the story interesting and surprising. I am looking forward to seeing what other twists and turns are coming, and how this love triangle between Bay, Emmett, and Daphne will play out. The show does a great job introducing viewers to the world of the deaf and the issues they face, which most of us probably have little-to-no experience with.

In tonight’s episode, “Starry Night,” Daphne follows Emmett to a music festival, hoping to get some private time with him. Elsewhere, John requests that Regina be present when Bay sees Angelo again, and Kathryn secretly talks to a nurse who could assist in the lawsuit against the hospital.

ABC Family’s brand new teen-centered show, Jane By Design has arrived! Bound to be the next favorite among ABC Family’s quality programs, Jane By Design revolves around a teen who snags a position at Donovan Decker, an ultra hip fashion house, when she is mistaken for an adult. Jane accepts and finds herself in over her head, trying to juggle both her teen life in high school and her life outside as an assistant to a high powered, and high strung, executive in the extremely cutthroat world of fashion. Will Jane be able to live a double life and turn in her homework on time?

On tonight’s premiere, a high school student secures a job at an upscale fashion house as an assistant to a highly demanding executive.

There aren’t a ton of shows that are consistently great, where the cases are well done and interesting and the personal storylines are good. Body of Proof is one of those shows. We get such a great mix of case of the week and personal stuff. Megan building a relationship with her daughter, maybe being interested in dating finally after her divorce. Peter trying to find out information on his biological parents and having sex with Dani, the body transporter (whatever it’s called…lol). All the supporting cast is great and for the most part, they are almost always well used, which is also a rare thing to find.

On tonight’s episode, “Falling for You,” after a bride plummets to her death on her wedding day, everyone from the angry ex boyfriend to the over bearing father is a suspect. But just like a bride herself, Megan pays attention to every tiny detail until she can solve the crime. Meanwhile, Ethan is falling hard for the new girl, Dani, but she already seems to have found a love interest with someone else on the team.

Happy New Year to us, because tonight is an all new episode of NCIS: LA. I have been loving this season so far, and the episode before Christmas left us with another look into Sam’s life, while he searched desperately for the special toy for his daughter. Also, how hot was the tension between Eric and Nell? They need to hurry up and put those two together already.

On tonight’s episode, “The Watchers,” Nell goes undercover when a researcher for the defense department is murdered and she’s asked to replace him. Miguel Ferrer (Crossing Jordan, The Protector) guest stars.

To see how Nell handles this new position, tune in to CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of NCIS: LA @ Clicker.
