If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/4/12

I know a LOT of people are excited about tonight’s TV, because ABC’s comedy lineup is back! That block of shows is pretty popular here at TV Is My Pacifier, so don’t be surprised when you see a bunch of ABC on our list tonight! 😉

In fact… my fist pick tonight is the new episode of Modern Family. This show is not about what most would consider a conventional family, but a family they are, nonetheless. They are kind of disfunctional, but in a way, that makes it all the better, because I can relate! On the last episode, they all rushed around trying to get Christmas together in just a few hours, since they figured out they were going to all be gone on Christmas day. It was hysterical seeing them all be with different people in the family. Mitchell, Alex, and Lily got the tree, Phil and Manny got the groceries, Gloria and Luke got the ornaments, and Claire and Haley shopped for all the gifts that Jay and Cameron were in charge of wrapping. It was so hysterical, because nothing went as planned, and yet, it turned out to be a great Christmas.

On tonight’s episode, “Lifetime Supply,” after having a doctor’s visit but then missing the call with the test results, Phil automatically jumps to conclusions and starts saying his goodbyes. Meanwhile Javier pops up unannounced again and takes Manny to the horse races for a belated birthday celebration, and a subtle competition ensues when Mitchell brings home an environmental law award and it becomes a game of who has the bigger trophy. Benjamin Bratt & Philip Baker Hall guest star.

Tonight, CBS is airing the fourth all-new edition of its I Get That A Lot hidden camera show. I absolutely loved the first three of these hilarious specials. The premise is that they put celebrities in common service jobs, usually having them behave badly, and see how the customers react as they think they recognize the stars. As the suspicious customers ask if they are indeed that star, the celebrity just responds, “I get that a lot.” All of the fun is caught on hidden camera.

Tonight’s special features celebrities Pamela Anderson selling lingerie, Jerry Springer working in a deli, Pauley Perrette as a dog groomer, Apolo Anton Ohno as a grocery store produce clerk, Ty Pennington working at a hardware store, and Dr. Drew Pinsky working at Lens Crafters. Sounds like it will be a lot of fun!

When we last left the Heck family on The Middle, they were celebrating Christmas. Frankie was lamenting that she never gets a decent present from the holiday that she can use. Mike ultimately surprised her with a new dishwasher, something he had planned all along, but Frankie ruined when she went overboard, chastising him about the bad gifts. Mike did redeem himself, only for the family to realize that the dishwasher was too big for the spot where it belonged. Nothing ever comes easy to the Heck family…and that’s why viewers can’t get enough of this show!

Tonight, on “Year of the Hecks,” after realizing that no one keeps their New Year’s resolutions, Frankie lays down the law that they will be assigned anonymously to each family member and that an all you can eat buffet will be the big reward for those who can abide by their assigned resolution for a week. However, chaos ensues when Frankie has to spend more time with Brick, Mike needs to smile more, Axl has to keep his bedroom clean, Sue has to stop trying out for activities that she’ll never make, and Brick must stop reading all of the time.

We made it through the stressful holiday season, and now we need a good laugh. Suburgatory is just what the doctor ordered. I love the awesome father/daughter banter between George and Tessa, but what’s also great is the sexual tension between George and Dallas. The arguments between Dalia and Tessa are fabulous. I love the mean girl/nice girl dynamics. Last episode, we saw George throw a Christmas party, hoping to get in a woman’s pants, but ended up attracting more than just one. Dallas and George kissed under the mistletoe, and it was sexually charged.

On tonight’s episode, “Driving Miss Dalia,” new driver Tessa is hired by Dalia to help her stalk her crush, but the plan might backfire when Tessa discovers a mutual attraction with her nemesis’ obsession. Meanwhile, George jumps through hoops to join the local country club. Thomas McDonell guest stars.

To see how Tessa handles being attracted to the same guy as Dalia, tune in to ABC tonight at 8:30/7:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Suburgatory @ Clicker.

As everyone knows, I love TV Land’s comedies. Tonight is all new episodes, which makes me VERY happy. And ever since I first heard about the first episode of the night, I’ve been all giddy excited, because it should be epic.

We know that Melanie, Joy, and Victoria ended up in Cleveland when their plane made an emergency landing on the way to a “gal pals” vacation in Paris…but how did they even become friends in the first place? In this hilarious new episode of Hot in Cleveland, “How Did You Guys Meet, Anyway?” flash back to the series of events that led to this trio meeting on the rooftop of an LA hotel. As all three struggle to move forward with their love lives and careers, Melanie, Joy, and Victoria take their meeting as fate and decide to stick together. We’ll also find out what Elka was up to in the ‘80s, and it may look familiar… Tim Bagley guest stars.

Then on The Exes, “A Very Wrong Engagement,” Phil, Haskell, and Stuart are forced to trade apartments with Holly when her mother visits. Turns out Holly never told her mother her engagement ended months ago, and she thinks Holly still lives with her fiancé… Judith Light (Ugly Betty) and Laura McLaughlin (Rules of Engagement) guest star.

See the hilarity ensue tonight on TV Land at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hot in Cleveland & The Exes @ Clicker.

I am also looking forward tonight’s all new ABC lineup – especially one of my favorite comedies, Happy Endings. It’s been almost a month since we last saw the Happy Endings gang at Christmastime. The thing I love about this show is that it’s always so much fun. All of the characters are so likable, and you just want to be a part of that group, joining them in whatever the wacky adventure du jour is. This show reminds me of Friends – it centers around a great group of friends, each with his or her own unique personality and quirks.

In tonight’s episode, “The Shrink, the Dare, Her Date, and Her Brother,” Dave has a tough time wrapping his head around the fact that Penny is dating his psychiatrist. Meanwhile, Jane’s efforts to get Alex and Brad to bond get a boost when they discover they have a mutual appreciation for the same film genre. And vain Jane and vain Max get into another one of their wacky competitions, which entails seeing who can go the longest wearing an unflattering outfit.

Cruelty and deception come in the form of Emily Thorne, and hell hath no fury like a daughter scorned on Revenge. So far this season, Emily has taken revenge on quite the number of former connections to her father. She hasn’t made it to the top yet, so she is still taking them down one by one. Unfortunately, there are a few people who seem to be getting in Emily’s way. Nolan and Tyler have a few of their own schemes up their sleeves and “Amanda,” aka. the REAL Emily Thorne, just won’t take the hint and leave the Hamptons. Both “Amanda” and Emily are living quite the high life…and the Hamptons better buckle up!

On an all new episode, “Duress,” an unwelcome and unstable visitor turns Daniel’s intimate birthday celebration with family and friends into a complete disaster. Charlotte ends up as a pawn in Conrad and Victoria’s divorce battle, and Emily watches as her ultimate plan begins to unravel.

Watch the delicious drama go down at 10/9c on ABC! Learn where to find episodes online of Revenge @ Clicker.
