TV News – 1/5/12

Here are a few bits of news to help you through your day. Enjoy. 🙂

According to TVLine, CW has ordered it’s first pilot of the year, picking up Cult. It was created by Josh Schwartz (Hart of Dixie, Gossip Girl, Chuck, The O.C.), who is Executive Producer, along with Stephanie Savage and Len Goldstein. The hour-long drama is about a mysterious series of disappearances that are linked to a TV show called Cult. A production assistant working on the show teams up with a journalist blogger to investigate the crazed fans of the series who might be imitating the crimes they have seen on the show.

Rockne O’Bannon (V, Farscape) wrote the script and will be also serving as an executive producer.

I think this sounds like a very interesting idea for a show, if done well. We all know how crazy fans can get, and the thought that one would mimic something they’ve seen on their favorite show doesn’t surprise me at all. What do you think about this premise? Will you be watching?

Eric Johnson (Luke from Rookie Blue) is going to be guest starring on the new FOX drama, Alcatraz. He’ll be on the opposite side of the law than usual, playing a “smooth-talking bank robber with an interest in safety deposit boxes.” You can look for him to pop up on January 30th in episode 4. I’m happy with this news and think that I’ll enjoy him more when he’s playing a role where he’s not macking on Andy (Missy Peregrym). Source

That’s it for now check back later for a few more stories to help you keep in touch with television.
