If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/15/12

It’s the start of a new week, but for a lot of people, it’s a bit of a short week, since kids are off from school on Monday & some people will be off for work because of Martin Luther King Day. It’s going to be an extra short week for my kiddo, as he has Monday off, then Tuesday his school is off for some school improvement day, and then Thursday is a late start day, so he goes in 2 hours later than normal. *shrug* Anyway, whether you have days off this week or not, settle in to watch some great TV tonight, including what we think you should watch below! But first, I want to mention a few items of interest. Tonight is The 69th Annual Golden Globes on NBC, the season finale of Hell on Wheels on AMC, season premiere of Undercover Boss on CBS, and series premiere of Napoleon Dynamite on FOX, so if those interest you, don’t miss em! (By the way, Kyle is on vacation, so JJ is filling in for him. Everyone say hi!)

My first pick for what I think you should watch tonight is the season finale of Leverage. It’s been a great season. Hardison and Parker have come a long way, and we had some great stuff between Hardison and Eliot. As always, Nate and Sophie have had their ups and downs. You have to love it, though… They wouldn’t be them if they didn’t! Last week, Tom Skerritt was back as Nate’s father, and when he found himself in front of explosives, he kept Nate safe as the building exploding, killing him. We also found out that the man behind all the suckage is none other than Victor Dubenich, played by Saul Rubinek (Warehouse 13), who was the first bad guy on the show back in season 1! That was a twist I didn’t see coming! Will they take him down? Hopefully, we’ll find out tonight!

On tonight’s episode, “The Last Dam Job,” the Leverage team must recruit old friends and rivals in order to take down Latimer and a foe from their past. That would be a great episode title for the series finale, but luckily, it’s already been renewed for another season!

See it tonight on TNT at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Leverage @ Clicker.

Last week, Once Upon a Time hit the ground running. We jumped ahead 2 weeks after Graham’s death, to see Emma and Regina battling it out over who would make a good Sheriff for Storybrooke. After an election, Emma surprisingly won – but only after she followed her conscience. We also took a trip into Rumpelstiltskin’s past – where we learned he wasn’t always as creepy as he is. There was a time where he was just a poor peasant and father of a young boy. Now, after seeing that Rumpel had a son, I’m interested to see where they go with that – if anywhere at all.

On tonight’s episode, “True North,” feeling their pain from having lived through the same experience, Emma desperately tries to help two homeless children find their birth father before they’re separated and put into the foster care system. Meanwhile, back in the fairytale world that was, the Evil Queen coerces Hansel and Gretel into stealing an important artifact from a blind witch (Emma Caulfield, Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

To see if they can follow the bread crumbs out of this mess, tune in to ABC at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Once Upon a Time @ Clicker.

Hearts were broken and lives were shaken up on the last episode of Pan Am! Bridget returned with her sights set on becoming a Pan Am stewardess again and rekindling her relationship with Dean. Colette resigned herself to letting Dean and Bridget try again, even after Dean declared that he only has eyes for Colette. Bridget revealed to Dean that she is in fact an agent, and Kate worked on trying to pass a polygraph test after the shooting in London. Ted sought advice from Laura about his budding romance with childhood mate, Amanda, and Maggie made a splash by having one of her articles published.

On tonight’s episode, “Diplomatic Relations,” Dean is tapped to fly the very first ever commercial flight to Moscow! However, the day of the departure, Russian blowhard veteran pilot Broyles takes control of the wheel and makes Dean the co-pilot. Also, Kate must seek help from an ally when Laura and another stewardess are mistaken for spies, and Congressman Rawlings and his staff work to track down whoever wrote the news story about him.

Watch the drama unfold tonight at 10/9c on ABC! Learn where to find episodes online of Pan Am @ Clicker.

Last week, House of Lies premiered to respectable ratings for cable TV. I checked it out mostly for the return of Kristen Bell to TV and liked it a lot. Don Cheadle is a very respectable, funny, and crazy lead, and next to Kristen, it’s nice to see Ben Schwartz outside of Parks and Recreation. The show felt very current and was funny. My two biggest nitpicks were the freezing of the screen and the sex/nudity. Last episode, we met Marty Kaan’s consultancy team, trying to land a new account in New York. Their unconventional method eventually landed them the account, but not before Marty’s crazy ex, and mother of his cross-dressing teen, tried to steal the account from under their noses.

On this week’s episode, “Amsterdam,” Marty takes his team to Phoenix to clean up the mess at a sport franchise caused by the impending divorce of the owners.

It’s on at 10/9c on Showtime. Learn where to find episodes online of House of Lies @ Clicker.

Last week was the series premiere of Cajun Pawn Stars on the History Channel. I recorded it simply because I enjoy the original so much, but I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. Most of the fun of the Vegas version is the people. But oh man, did it surprise me! lol The DeRamus family is great. It’s Jimmie DeRamus, his daughter Tammie, and his brother Johnnie. Tina, Fred, Walt, and Robby all work in the shop, as well. They are all fun to watch. But oh man, the best part has to be the customers. This takes place in Alexandria, Louisiana, and they have some crazy and fun folks down there that sell some weird stuff! We saw everything from a Civil War era revolver to the very first, long lost album from famous singer Jerry Lee Lewis that he recorded at a store for just over $2. Then you have the animals… *snicker* Last week, Jimmie bought an adorable, mischievous little pygmy goat, and someone pawned something like 40 donkeys. Crazy. And the customers don’t all just come into the shop… There was one guy that tracked Jimmie down at lunch to see if his antique pocket watch was of any value!

On tonight’s first episode, “Shoeshine Mike,” the DeRamus family determines the authenticities and values of sellers’ classic Dukes of Hazzard General Lee Charger, an oversized shoeshine stand from the 1920s, and a surgeon’s medical kit allegedly used during the Civil War.

Then on the second episode, “Money Bzzzness,” after negotiating the price of a large colony of bees for a proposed beekeeping business, the DeRamus family meets with other sellers presenting a rare military grade sniper rifle and a steel submarine hatch believed to be from World War II.

Don’t miss them tonight on the History Channel at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Cajun Pawn Stars @ Clicker.

Tonight brings us another new episode of Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off. I really enjoy both Guy and Rachael, so this show is always entertaining. As far as contestants, I’m rooting for Lou Diamond Phillips and Joey Fatone, because they are the only two that seem to have a real, strong kitchen confidence. Last week, the contestants tackled desserts, and it was overall a success. Miss American Alyssa didn’t quite make it, and she was eliminated.

On tonight’s episode, “Chopping Block,” Rachael and Guy welcome Chopped judges Alex Guarnaschelli, Marcus Samuelsson, and Scott Conant to the Cook-Off Kitchen to judge the remaining six celebrity contestants in one-on-one battles, Chopped style. Each battle challenges the celebrities to cook their version of a judge’s signature dish. The Chopped judges pick the winners of each challenge, leaving two surprising celebrities on the chopping block to be eliminated.

To see who doesn’t make the cut tonight, tune in to the Food Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off @ Clicker.

Everything hit the fan last week on Mob Wives! At Renee’s birthday party, Drita and Karen got into a major scrape with fists flying! Ramona got hit in the crossfire and thought that it was by a bouncer at the club they were at. The fight escalated into an all out brawl, and it was a bloody aftermath. Junior found out his sentencing from last year’s major mob bust, and we learned about new Mob Wives star Ramona’s famous family background.

On tonight’s all new episode, “Make-Ups and Break-Ups,” Renee sets out to confront Carla, while Drita tries to cope with her life after Lee.
