If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/29/12

Whoever said that weekends were for rest didn’t have kids! It’s been one thing after another; however, I did get a great trip to IKEA. I love that store. 🙂 It’s like a happy drug, I swear. Of course, the thing that makes me happiest is new television, so let’s see what you should be watching tonight.

I have noticed a few of my fellow TV journalists being on the fence lately about their love of Once Upon a Time. Well, that’s not me. This girl is over the fence and standing far on the side of LOVING this show. Every week, I find myself pulled deeper and deeper into their world. I was squealing like a school girl when Mary Margaret and David kissed last week. It was amazingly hot. Unfortunately, if the mayor (aka Evil Queen) has anything to say, there is going to be nothing but drama.

On tonight’s episode, “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree,” a dejected Sidney enlists the aid of Emma to help uncover evidence that could expose Mayor Regina as the corrupt person she really is to the townspeople of Storybrooke; and Mary Margaret and David continue their secret rendezvous while trying to figure out a way to unleash their unrequited love. Meanwhile, back in the fairytale land that was, King Leopold (Richard Schiff, The West Wing), who is the father of Snow White and married to the Evil Queen, stumbles upon a magic lamp and is granted three wishes by a Genie – who warns the king to be careful what he wishes for.

Tonight is the season finale of Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off. I have really enjoyed this competition. I knew I would before it even started, since I love both Rachael and Guy. But at the time, I wasn’t sure how much I’d like the contestants. My favorite two by far are LDP and Joey. They have the best personalities out of all the contestants, and they know their stuff in the kitchen. Taylor annoys me a lot, but many, she can pull off a dish even when you think all hope is lost. I do hope it’s one of the guys, though. I would love to see either of them win! There are two episodes tonight, so don’t miss either of them.

On tonight’s first episode, “Friends and Family Favorites,” the four remaining celebrity competitors are challenged to prepare a family-style meal for the close friends and family members of Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri, and the bottom two contestants still have a chance in the final battle.

The in the season finale, “Restaurant Battle,” the final two celebrity competitors are challenged to prepare a menu, theme, and décor for their own restaurant, with special assistance from surprise partners, and a Zagat Survey rating from the owners will determine the overall winner.

The Good Wife continues to be a great drama and easily the best courtroom drama I’ve watched in the past few years. Last week, the firm represented a lawyer (played by Jason Biggs) who was arrested by the government for not revealing the name of his client, a computer programmer who illegally invented a new online currency. Meanwhile, Wendy Scott-Carr continued to build her case against Will and tried to force Kalinda to help gather evidence. Also, Jackie interrupted a rendezvous between Zach and his girlfriend, telling him she didn’t approve because he was in private school and Nisa was in public school. Though it was quite evident that the real issue was that she was black.

This show does a great job amping up the suspense throughout the episode while also providing an interesting new case of the week. They also have so many great guest stars and recurring characters that I really look forward to each new episode!

In tonight’s episode, “Another Ham Sandwich,” with her investigation complete, Special Prosecutor Wendy Scott-Carr presents her evidence against Will to the grand jury in hopes of sending him to prison for bribery. Meanwhile, Eli and Stacie Hall square off once again.

Last week on Mob Wives, Ramona was released from jail, and she had to face the music when her boyfriend was arrested. Drita made it a mission to find out whether or not Karen sucker-punched her at Renee’s birthday party. Carla and Drita were convinced that all bad roads lead them back to Ramona. Renee let Junior move in with her, but blew up over his bad habits like leaving crumbs all around. Karen and Carla had a sit down, but Karen got heated over Carla’s persistent defense of Drita.

On tonight’s all new episode, tensions flare even more with Ramona and Carla, while Drita takes further steps toward finalizing her divorce from Lee. Drita also is surprised to find out that Carla and Karen have come to a truce. Meanwhile, after her confrontation with Karen, Carla starts questioning whether she can ever trust Karen’s intentions. Also, Renee finds herself caught in the crossfire between the two camps of women. Things come to a head when Renee ends up confronted by her suspicions about Ramona.

It’s been a couple of weeks since the new episode of CSI: Miami, and while I enjoy the show, it’s not one I feel compelled to recommend every week. This week, though, I’ve got to recommend it based on the guest stars alone! Among others, you’ll see the following people: Elisabeth Rohm (Law & Order), Paola Turbay (True Blood, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Royal Pains, Cane), Brian White (Men of a Certain Age), Grant Gustin (4 eps of Glee), Spencer Locke (Kylie on Cougar Town), Jacqueline McKenzie (The 4400), & Romy Rosemont (Glee). Eesh!

On tonight’s episode, “Terminal Velocity,” when a skydiver is murdered, the CSIs discover that he has more than 100 children and all of them are suspects.

Check it out tonight on CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of CSI: Miami @ Clicker.
