If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/16/12

I don’t know who made the decision to switch Bones to Monday night, but I just have to say I’m all for it. It means two of my very favorite shows of all time are on the same night, thankfully at different times! Besides that and Castle, there’s plenty on, so check out what we think you should be watching!

Jenny’s Choice #1

My first pick tonight has to go to Castle. Last week was kind of heartbreaking to watch… Beckett mooned over Castle (although, hello… Did Laney REALLY have to explain to her what Castle was waiting for?! *rolls eyes* lol), Castle acted like an ass because he had his feelings hurt (ok, I totally get that, although I think he should have confronted her, rather than just ignoring it…), and really, it made me want to cry for both of them more than once. Stana Katic did a great job once again as Kate Beckett. I love her. This week should be a brilliant episode. It is a Firefly reunion between Nathan Fillion and Chuck’s Adam Baldwin (who I also adore). How we are supposed to not just keel over D-E-D with all the swoony sexiness, I don’t know! By the way… His character’s name? Ethan Slaughter. I think Casey/Jane would approve. *laugh*

On tonight’s episode, “Headhunters,” with tensions rising between Castle and Beckett, Castle finds himself a new partner – Detective Ethan Slaughter (Baldwin), a tough and colorful cop from the city’s gang unit. But Castle gets more than he bargained for when Slaughter shows him a grittier side of police work that puts Castle in the line of fire like never before.

Don’t miss it tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Castle @ Clicker.

Mondays are so crazy, so I’m always excited when I can sit down to watch a show that both warms my heart and tickles my funnybone. Hart of Dixie fulfills those needs perfectly. I loved last week’s episode, where we watched Zoe try to navigate her relationship with her father, considering she found out she’s not biologically his. Truth be told, there is so much more to being a parent that a blood relation; DNA doesn’t make you a father…how you love the child is what determines parental bond. Her father hasn’t been doing very well, but this episode, there was some delicious turning points for them and some other characters. Including when George happened upon Lavone kissing Lemon. Holy crap! I’m not sure what I’d do if I was George, except I know that Lemon and Lavone have a love that she and George do not have.

On tonight’s episode, “Bachelorettes and Bullets,” Zoe makes a romantic connection with one of her patients, Jess, and accepts his invitation to lunch. Lemon agrees to let Magnolia plan her bachelorette party, as long as she follows Lemon’s strict instructions, but Magnolia has some more “interesting” plans in store for her big sister. Wade plans a hunting trip for George’s bachelor party. Justin Hartley (Smallville) guest stars.

Tune in to The CW at 9/8c to see if George addresses the kiss or not. Learn where to find episodes online of Hart of Dixie @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching 2 Broke Girls, The Voice, Bones, Mike & Molly, Make It or Break It, Smash, and Eureka.

Tonight, Eureka returns for its fifth and final season. When we last left Eureka, all of those chosen for the Astraeus mission were aboard the ship, awaiting launch, when some strange things started happening and the countdown clocks started to accelerate. Allison was trapped aboard the ship, with no stasis pod. Carter tried smashing the cooling tubes of the reactor to stop the launch. However, the FTL still activated and the ship disappeared. Meanwhile, Jo was thinking about leaving Eureka.

So what happened to the ship and its crew? Tonight, we found out. However, from last season, we know that the folks behind Eureka really like to shake things up, and they are doing so once again in tonight’s game-changer of an episode. The season premiere gives us a really amazing and dark new turn for the series. Everything you thought you knew about Eureka is about to change all over again. It should be another great (and sadly, final) season!

In tonight’s episode, “Lost,” the Astraeus crew returns to Eureka four years later and must adapt to a myriad of changes, including a more oppressive version of Deputy Andy.

Check it out tonight on Syfy at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Eureka @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Castle, Smash, Bones, House, and Hart of Dixie.

Last week, we left off on Smash with the introduction of Uma Thurman’s character, who had just arrived after being stuck in Cuba. Of course, that was solely due to her assistant being denied a VISA, or so she said. Derek put Karen in as an understudy for Marilyn in “Bombshell,” only to continue to berate her in front of everyone and make her feel insignificant. After telling Dev how Derek hit on her and how she turned him down, Dev got extremely angry. When Derek showed up at Karen’s apartment, Dev spied him and the two got into a fistfight. Dev finally told Karen about an opportunity he had been offered in another state, which had the two questioning their relationship. Meanwhile, Tom and Julia celebrated the anniversary of their first play together. Tom and his boyfriend broke up after the chemistry between Tom and Ivy’s friend Sam became quite obvious.

Tonight, on “The Movie Star,” the arrival of Uma Thurman’s movie star character turns “Bombshell” upside down. Ivy and Karen try to overcome their catty history in order to unite against their new lead rival. Also, Tom and Sam’s romance begins to heat up.

Watch and devour all the drama at 10/9c on NBC. Learn where to find episodes online of Smash @ Clicker.

Tonight, I am also watching the live performances on The Voice!

Jenny’s Choice #2

My other favorite show right now is Bones. Last week, Brennan returned to work six weeks after having her daughter. Booth seemed to handle it ok, and Brennan seemed really strong and without any worry the entire episode…until the end. She had asked the daycare (which is very near to the lab) lady to send her updates and pictures every hour for Christine, and even when the lady sent her a photo of one of the baby’s dirty diapers, Brennan took it as a great thing, because she could see that Christine was doing exactly what she was supposed to be doing. At one point, Angela had Michael in her office, hiding him in a cabinet when Brennan came in, and Brennan seemed to be confused about why Angela would feel the need to keep him so close and not be able to separate the work from the personal. Of course, that all backfired at the end of the episode, when she sat with Christine at home, crying because she doesn’t want to put the baby down in her crib to sleep. She missed her too much. It was so heartwarming. Then, of course, we saw Cam’s daughter, Michelle, and newest squintern, Finn (who I still love 😀 ), as they meet and start dating. They really hit it off, and when Cam shows her displeasure about it, Finn at first says he’ll stop seeing Michelle, which breaks her heart, but then he decides that no, he likes her and wants to stick up for their relationship. Cam then relented, and the young couple walked away happy. Finally, we had the case…which was just as gruesome as always, and the fight with the extreme couponers just cracked me up. All in all, it was another great, highly enjoyable episode.

On tonight’s episode, “The Don’t in the Do,” when a corpse is found at a landfill, dyed in a blue substance, intern Arastoo Vaziri discovers a method that helps eliminate postmortem damages to the corpse, which leads the team back to a hair salon where the victim worked. Meanwhile, Bones is feeling uncomfortable in her post-baby body, so Booth decides to do something special to boost her self-confidence.

Check it out tonight on FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Bones @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, Two and a Half Men, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, Pawn Star$, & the season premiere of Eureka.

  1. Brett says:

I thoroughly enjoyed this week’s episode of Castle. It was great to not only see Adam Baldwin back on TV doing what he does best, but to have (my favorite) two members of the old Firefly gang back together. However I couldn’t shake this feeling the entire time that I was watching a backdoor pilot. It was the same feeling I had during the “Finder” episode of Bones, which, when I watched it, I was unaware that it actually WAS a backdoor pilot.

As far as I know Adam Baldwin doesn’t have another series lined up, and they spent so much time in the episode showing his backstory, developing his character, showing the people he interacts with at his precinct, etc.. Ethan Slaughter really wouldn’t work as a new regular on Castle, so I figured this had to be a backdoor pilot of a show, possibly titled ‘Slaughter’ or ‘Anger Management’ (oh wait that’s already taken), that I know I’d definitely watch!

How about you guys, did you have the same reaction to the episode?

  2. Jenny says:

I loved it, too. 🙂 Yeah, I completely agree about it seeming like a backdoor pilot. I haven’t seen a hint that that’s what it really was, though. And while I’d definitely watch, I think to make it successful, it needs to tie in to Castle more… like Castle’s schtick is it’s a writer shadowing the cops. So it’s not your average police show. So the spinoff would need…something…like that. What, I don’t know. Wouldn’t make a lot of sense to do another writer shadowing him. So I just don’t know. One thing you mentioned was developing his character & showing the people he interacts with… Yes! I told my husband…why not just have him talk to Lanie, rather than some M.E. that we’ve never seen before? I get why we saw the undercover copy buddy, but… I mean, I enjoyed it, but you’re definitely right about it being a lot of development into one-off characters!

If nothing else, I’d love to see AB as Ethan Slaughter guest starring on more episodes. lol Maybe their paths cross during some case, or he stops in to use their box. Maybe they really go after & catch that guy he is so intent on getting.

It’ll be interesting to see if Andrew Marlowe & co. surprise us with that or something! 🙂
