If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/14/12

During the fall, Thursdays are always packed with full line-ups on every channel. During the summer, Thursday has become one of the most barren nights of the week – I only counted four new scripted episodes tonight – and that includes two USA Network series that return tonight for the summer! Read on to find out what we recommend you tune in to this evening.

Kyle’s Choice

It’s been nine months since we last visited the offices of Pearson Hardman! Last season on Suits, senior attorney Harry Spencer hired whiz kid Mike Ross as a lawyer even though he didn’t actually have a law degree. Mike struggled to keep his old life and new life separate, and when he started dating his former drug-dealing best friend Trevor’s ex, Jenny, he really wanted to keep Trevor in the dark for fear what he might do. Meanwhile, Mike befriended paralegal Rachael Zane, who developed feelings for him and eventually learned Mike’s secret. While Rachel’s feelings would never allow her reveal his secret, it upset her that he was not interested in her and that he achieved a higher LSAT score without even attending law school. Also, Harvey’s jealous rival, Louis Litt, and his protege Kyle Durant don’t like Mike and suspect something is up. At the end of the season, we saw a cleaned-up, suited Trevor walking up to Jessica Pearson, Harvey’s boss, saying that he had something to tell her about Mike Ross.

So what will Trevor do? Will he reveal Mike’s secret? Or maybe he’s angling to get his own position in the firm? This is going to make me sound like a shipper, but I wish Mike would just drop Jenny and completely break away from that whole former bad life. Rachel is so much better! Whatever happens, I’m looking forward to more interesting cases and seeing where this whole secret-keeping drama goes this season.

In tonight’s episode, “She Knows,” Mike is excited to close a big case for the firm but doesn’t realize Trevor confronted Jessica. Meanwhile, Jessica’s former partner resurfaces, prompting Harvey to reconsider what he’s willing to do to protect Mike’s secret.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Men at Work, Burn Notice, and (possibly) Saving Hope.

Megan’s Choice

This is the week of reality TV for me, with Breaking Pointe tonight. At first I was concerned if I was going to like this show, but once I watched the first two episodes, I couldn’t help but be drawn in. These dancers have an insane level of commitment and an even greater level of stress that comes from this job. I absolutely love Ronald and Katie and think their relationship is adorable. It sucks that Katie didn’t get a contract to stay on at Ballet West, but I also think that Ronald needs to stay and do at least a year at the company to build his resume. I find Rex and Allison’s relationship as confusing as they do, but isn’t that what love is sometimes? A confuddled mess. Overall, I’ve been loving this look into the lives of these talented dancers and find it completely intriguing to watch how their world works. It’s like watching a completely different society at times, and it’s absolutely enthralling.

On tonight’s episode, “Second Cast is First Place for Losers,” after the gruelling final rehearsals, Adam has to decide who will dance the lead roles, leading to major emotional fall out among the dancers. Top Russian choreographer Elena Kunikova trains the dancers and demi-soloist Allison struggles under the pressure. After Beckanne’s promotion, she has to deal with resentment and jealousy, and Katie goes on the road to audition for other ballet companies. Ronald is torn between love and his position at Ballet West. Finally, the dancers take a road trip to one of Utah’s most beautiful outdoor spots.

To see why I’ve become so addicted to this show, tune in to The CW network at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Breaking Pointe @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Saving Hope.

Jenny’s Choice

I’m going to be honest and say that while Burn Notice is one of my favorite shows, when I heard about Fi and prison at the end of last season, I put off watching the season finale…and I STILL haven’t watched it. Haha I’m such a chicken-sh*t sometimes when it comes to my TV. So while I can’t talk a lot about what exactly happened in the finale, I can say that Fiona turned herself in to the authorities so Michael was safe and that the beginning of this season (for how long, I don’t know…) will be about Michael & gang getting her out. I can’t imagine he’s just going to say, “Oh, poor Fi… Sitting in prison because of me. Oh well. Time to move on!” *laugh* That’s just not Michael’s style, and he loves her. I also know that this season, Michael is going to realize that getting back into the CIA wasn’t as good a thing as he’d hoped…which I could have told him: DUH. I am excited it’s back tonight, though, so I can watch the finale & premiere back to back! 😉

On tonight’s episode, “Scorched Earth,” Michael hunts Anson through the streets of Miami in the wake of the Season 5 finale. Refusing to let Anson get away, Michael races against the clock to find him…but time may not be his only obstacle. Meanwhile, Fiona is taken into federal custody after her surrender, where she’s interrogated by an old nemesis.

Don’t miss it tonight on USA at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Burn Notice @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Take Me Out, Saving Hope, & Men at Work.
