If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/17/12

Today is a day to honor and spoil all the men in our lives for being good fathers. A dad is so much more than just DNA. It’s the love and devotion to making a child’s life a better place to be. It’s all many moments that a man puts into being a role model. So today, whether you are a biological father, a step-dad, an uncle, a godfather, or anything else, just remember that you make a difference in someone’s life just by being you. Now that the mushy stuff is out of the way, let’s see what awesome television is on for you to watch tonight.

True Blood is one of my most delicious addictions, and last week’s premiere just got me even more hooked. I can’t say that I was surprised that Tara ended up coming back as a vampire, but I can say that Sookie was incredibly stupid to stand over the grave waiting for a hungry new vampire to rise for the first time. How creepy was Reverend Steve as a vamp? Not just a vamp, but a homosexual vamp…Insane. I loved Jason’s response of “This dog don’t bark that way.” Classic. Overall, I was impressed with the premiere, and I am looking forward to seeing where this season is going to take us. Whereever it is, I’m sure it’s going to be devious and shocking.

On tonight’s episode, “Authority Always Wins,” Bill and Eric meet Salome at the Vampire Authority headquarters; Pam recalls her human life and first encounter with Eric; Sookie gets a home-protection system; Arlene investigates Terry’s erratic behavior; Steve Newlin makes Jessica an offer.

To watch as things heat up with the vampire community, tune in to HBO at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of True Blood @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Drop Dead Diva and The Glades.

I was right to be worried about Callie & Jim on The Glades. I know Callie is going to be in all the upcoming episodes, but she’ll be in Atlanta. How much interaction with Jim can she possibly have? *sniff* Hopefully she’ll realize that the job isn’t worth being that far from him… Plus, I’m not sure I dig the new woman that’s coming into the show tonight. She damn well better not be a romantic interest for Jim. Bah. On the case side of things, my favorite part of the whole mermaid-themed episode was a tie between Daniel’s interest in all things mermaid and the cute non-couple couple that Jim helped get together. They were too cute, thinking the other had killed the victim (her sister, his sort of girlfriend), and then not telling the other they had feelings for one another.

On tonight’s episode, “Longworth’s Anatomy,” (which sounds very dirty to my naughty mind. LOL), while Jim helps Callie settle into her new apartment in Atlanta, Carlos performs a guest autopsy for Daniel’s forensics class at Tampa Tech and discovers the cadaver he is dissecting is actually a stashed away murder victim who turns out to be a student killed while participating in an on-campus pharmaceutical study. Also, the Palm Glade substation gets a new addition when FDLE Bureau Chief Jennifer Starke comes down to visit Manus, while Callie gets off to a rocky start with her new boss, Dr. Miranda Buckley.

Check it out tonight on A&E at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Glades @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Cupcake Wars, Food Network Star, Head Games, & Longmire.

Tonight, the 2nd Massachusetts returns to kick some alien butt in the second season premiere of Falling Skies. Aliens have attacked the Earth and are killing off the adults while capturing/harnessing the children to use as slaves. Last season, we met a band of civilians-turned-freedom-fighters who are struggling to keep the invaders at bay. They look for ways to understand the aliens and discover their weaknesses. Former US History teacher-turned-regiment-leader, Tom Mason, led a rescue mission to save his harnessed son. Bit it’s not all alien problems 2nd Mass has had to deal with: selfish human forces putting their own survival first also threatens the survival of the group.

As the first season came to a close, 2nd Mass had discovered that the aliens were communicating using some sort of radio frequency. They also figured out that the bullets used by the Mechs (the alien sentry robots) could be used against them. While some of the 2nd Mass troops went on the offensive, Tom stayed back and helped the others protect the school. However, when a new third race of aliens appeared, Tom agreed to go on board their ship in order to protect the others.

So what happened to Tom on the ship? Who are these aliens, and what do they want with Earth? Are the Skitters actually harnessed humans? (We did see a harness during the Skitter autopsy, and we saw some strange green stuff growing on the face of a harnessed girl.) How does 2nd Mass plan to fight these aliens, and are there other resistance groups that will join them? Hopefully we’ll get a lot of answers tonight – it should be an exciting 2 hours!

In tonight’s first episode, “Worlds Apart,” Pope seizes command of a renegade contingent within the 2nd Mass unit. Meanwhile, Tom suddenly returns to the group, but his loyalty comes into question; and Hal and Ben drift apart.

Then, in “Shall We Gather at the River,” Tom is plagued by haunting memories of his time with the aliens and begins to speculate that they may have tampered with his mind. Elsewhere, Pope oversees an interview with Tom; Ben’s hatred toward the skitters escalates; and scouts discover a bridge that could lead the group to safety.

Watch the premiere & 2nd episode tonight on TNT at 9/8c & 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Falling Skies @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Food Network Star, The Glades, Longmire, Mythbusters, Head Games, Drop Dead Diva, True Blood, and The Big C.
