Tuesday

Click here for series premiere information

Tonight is the series premiere of the new mini-series, Parade’s End on HBO at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:05/9:05c. Benedict Cumberbatch, Rebecca Hall and Adelaide Clemens star in this epic story of love and betrayal, set during a formative period in British history, from the twilight years of the Edwardian era to the end of World War I. From the reliable comforts of Edwardian England to the chaos and destruction of the First World War, the early 20th century was a defining era in history, a time of unprecedented change, when old certainties were being torn down. The long golden afternoons of the pre-war years would be shattered by the most destructive war the world had ever known, and countless lives would be changed forever. Set against this backdrop of impending catastrophe is the story of English aristocrat Christopher Tietjens, trapped in a marriage to an unfaithful wife, and caught between his commitment to the values of Toryism and his unspoken love for a fearless young suffragette.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Armed & Ready on Travel Channel at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. Only a handful of people can train with elite Army Rangers, scale trees with lumberjacks in the Tennessee Smoky Mountains and dive off cliffs in Hawaii. Even fewer can do these things without legs. But that’s never stopped Kevin Michael Connolly – an author, photographer and self-proclaimed thrill seeker. Travel Channel’s new original series features Connolly as he creates new rigs to travel anywhere, conquer anything and push the limits of the world around him. With his impressive arm strength, his skateboard, the help of backyard engineers and real scientists – and without a wheelchair or prosthetics – Connolly tackles adventure after adventure.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Golden Boy on CBS at 10/9c. This drama is about the meteoric rise of an ambitious cop who becomes the youngest police commissioner in the history of New York City, and the high personal and professional cost he pays to achieve it. As he’s interviewed for a story about his career, Walter William Clark, Jr. looks back on his hard-fought journey from street kid to the most powerful man in law enforcement. After only three years as a beat cop, Clark’s heroics on the job make him bold enough to ask for and receive the unheard-of promotion to homicide detective, angering the members of his new department who are eager to see him fail. Clark is partnered with and mentored by experienced veteran Detective Don Owen, just two years shy of retirement. He would rather team with First Grade Detective Christian Arroyo, the alpha dog in the squad who’s just as ambitious as Clark, but without a moral center. Arroyo’s partner is Detective Deborah McKenzie, a tough third-generation cop and the only female detective in the unit. Also on the team is Detective Joe Diaco, well-connected with tremendous resources which Clark might find useful. Though laser-focused on moving up the ladder, Clark’s soft spot is serving as the sole caregiver and supporter of his sister, Agnes, a teenager demonstrating increasingly dangerous behavior. Keenly observant and politically savvy, the Golden Boy bases his career decisions solely on his need to succeed as quickly as possible, and he’ll find that his epic journey will be filled with consequences. The show stars Theo James, Chi McBride, Bonnie Somerville, Holt McCallany, Kevin Alejandro, & Stella Maeve.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Robot Combat League on Syfy at 10/9c. Syfy launches the next generation of arena combat when 12 state-of-the-art robots and 24 courageous contestants enter the ring in the hotly-anticipated new competition series. Each week, the show, hosted by Chris Jericho, the wildly popular WWE superstar, features tournament-style battles between eight-foot tall humanoid robots controlled by a human fighter (“robo-jockey”) and an engineer (“robo-tech”).

Tonight is the series premiere of Boston’s Finest on TNT at 9/8c. This gripping new series follows the men and women of the Boston Police Department, encompassing multiple units including the exclusive and highly decorated Gang Unit. Featuring detectives, investigators, beat officers, and others, we get an up close and personal look at what it takes to patrol and secure one of America’s greatest and most distinctive cities. Donnie Wahlberg (Blue Bloods) is executive producer.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Stranded on Syfy at 10/9c. The show uses the same stripped-down first-person method as Paranormal Activity to document an unconventional – and terrifying – paranormal and psychological experiment in which participants are stranded at haunted location for a week and must record the entire experience themselves. Jason Blum, producer of the Paranormal Activity movie franchise, Insidious and Sinister, serves as an executive producer; as does Josh Gates, the host and co-executive producer of Syfy’s popular series Destination Truth. Each of the six hour-long episodes features the self-recorded footage of a diverse group of everyday paranormal enthusiasts. The footage from the subjects’ cameras is supplemented by strategically-placed security cameras at each location, creating a suspenseful, completely unscripted first-hand account of each group’s stay.

Utilizing vignettes interwoven with sketches, Ben interviews and hangs out with various people and characters to explore the randomness that is his life. This is a sketch show/man-on-the-street hybrid starring comedian Ben Hoffman. Between sketches, we follow Ben on a journey, such as forming a band, going on a blind date, buying a firearm or returning to his hometown in Kentucky. Ben seeks advice and guidance from strangers as well as people he knows, including his dad, ex-girlfriends and therapist, who also help him introduce the sketches.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Nathan for You on Comedy Central at 10:30/9:30c. What makes Nathan Fielder one of the most unconventional minds in the world of business? Tune in to find out. Each week this sweet, smart, but occasionally misguided young man visits real, small businesses and implements humorous, unique marketing campaigns. In this docu-reality comedy, Nathan Fielder (Jon Benjamin Has A Van) uses his business degree and life experiences to help struggling companies with strategies that no traditional business consultant would dare to attempt. From getting buzz for a yogurt shop by introducing a controversial flavor, to helping a taxi company reinvent the cab ride, or finding a legal way for a gas station to charge $1.75 per gallon and still make money, Nathan goes as far as it takes to make his ideas come to life. But because of his unorthodox approach, Nathan’s sincere efforts to do good often draw real people into an experience far beyond what they signed up for.
