The summer season is off to a great start. It’s a busy week for TV, but here at home, things have slowed down a lot because my kid’s out of school. That also makes it a long day for me, which means the busy TV is great. 😉 So let’s see what we’re all recommending tonight.
Jenny’s Choice #1
Tonight is the eighth season premiere of America’s Got Talent, and it’s gonna be a little different. Sharon Osbourne left the show after last season, and this season, it’ll be Howard Stern & Howie Mandel joined by former Spice Girl Mel B and supermodel TV host Heidi Klum at the judges’ table, with Nick Cannon returning as host. I wasn’t thrilled with the dog act winning last season, although they were good. But the show is still quite enjoyable to watch. 🙂
On tonight’s episode, “Premiere,” new judges Heidi Klum and Mel B join veteran judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel to begin the audition process for season eight. Auditions kick off with some of the most odd, yet extraordinary participants the show has come across in recent memory.
See the 2-hour premiere tonight on NBC at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing So You Think You Can Dance, Counting Cars, Total Blackout, Chopped, Exit, & The Little Couple.

Hard to believe we’re already down to the top 6 on The Voice, but that’s part of why I love this show—how quickly we move through the competition, unlike other talent shows (*cough*American Idol*cough*). I was quite disappointed when Sarah Simmons was eliminated last week. She was one of my favorites because her voice had such a delicious quality and tone to it, but America didn’t like her as much I do, apparently. Now I’m putting my support behind Amber Carrington and Michelle Chamuel.
On tonight’s episode, the artists face elimination and Cassadee Pope performs on tonight’s live show.
To see how your favorite does, tune in to NBC at 8/7c.
I’ll also be watching America’s Got Talent, Exit, Counting Cars, So You Think You Can Dance, Extreme Weight Loss, Pretty Wicked Moms, and Family S.O.S. with Jo Frost.
Tonight, Syfy kicks off the new reality competition series Exit. Each week, four teams of two contestants will complete mental and physical challenges to escape a series of increasingly diabolical and challenging rooms. Teams will find themselves trying to answer word puzzles while standing in quicksand, over a bottomless pit, or even in a room rapidly filling with water. The team that wins takes home $10,000!
From the previews, this show looks like a lot of fun and a perfect pairing with Total Blackout, which also returns tonight with the first of its final six episodes of the season—a special mother/child edition.
Find out if the new show is as fun as it sounds tonight on Syfy at 10/9c.
I’ll also be watching/recording Chopped and Awkward.
The shift in storytelling this season has really worked for Awkward. Jenna is asking the question of who she wants to be instead of what people around her dictate. The episode where she was embracing the story of how she was “the girl who tried to kill herself” was very nice. But with the introduction of Collin, the transfer student, it’s becoming more and more apparant that Jenna and Matty might not have long-term potential.
On tonight’s episode, “Reality Check,” Jenna thinks about Collin and what it means to have a crush as well as a boyfriend.
See if Jenna comes to a decision tonight on MTV at 10/9c.
I’ll also be watching So You Think You Can Dance.
