It’s Sunday, and a busy one at that! In fact, the week is just about as busy as last week. And it’s hard to believe that after today, there’s only one more day left in September! The year has flown by. As for tonight, Megan has been out of town this weekend, but she was planning to talk about the season premiere of The Amazing Race. So aside from that, here’s what the rest of us are recommending. 🙂
Tonight is the season premiere of The Mentalist. Last season, Jane narrowed the search for Red John down to seven names. He’s getting closer to figuring out who’s behind the murder of his wife and daughter and countless others. And it’s someone we’ve met, one of the following men: Bret Stiles, Gale Bertram, Ray Haffner, Reede Smith, Robert Kirkland, Sheriff Thomas McCallister, and Brett Partridge. We’ve been promised that the Red John arc will be wrapped up this season—I believe by mid-season, in fact. I’m glad, because really, enough is enough. I want to see where they’ll take the characters—especially Jane and Lisbon. Owain Yeoman and Amanda Righetti are leaving the show around mid-season, and since I’ve seen the premiere, I know they’re still a couple. It’ll be interesting to see how they’re written out of the show.
On tonight’s episode, “The Desert Rose,” Jane and Lisbon secretly continue their dangerous mission to narrow down the list of seven Red John suspects as they investigate the murder of a man who was missing for two years. Michael Gaston, Jack Plotnick, Josie Davis, & Lauren Stamile guest star.
To see the season premiere, tune in to CBS at 10:01/9:01c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing Rachael vs. Guy: Kids Cook-Off, The Great Food Truck Race, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

I can’t believe it’s finally here—the series finale of Breaking Bad! Despite the huge number of other premieres and finales on tonight, this is really the only show I am focused on tonight. Last week, a mysterious fixer brought Walter to a cabin in New Hampshire to hide out. In the isolation, Walt seemed withering down to nothing, both physically and emotionally, even administering his own chemo treatments. Meanwhile, Jesse tried to escape from his underground prison, but was caught by Jack and his men, who taught him a lesson by executing Andrea as he watched on. After several months, Walt finally ventured outside of his tiny home to a bar to call Walt Junior, who wanted nothing to do with his father and screamed that he wished he was dead. Walt watched the TV in amazement as Gretchen and Elliott of Gray Matter Technologies told Charlie Rose that Walter had nothing to do with the company’s success, except for providing the name. This was the kick in the butt that Walt needed—his pride was wounded and Heisenberg was back. Walt disappeared from the bar just as the police arrived.
So how will it all end? Will Jesse and/or Walt survive? What will happen to the rest of the White family? Will Walt get revenge on Jack and his men for killing Hank? And what about Lydia and her meth business? I can’t wait for tonight’s epic finale. I don’t see how TV could ever be this good again!
On tonight’s episode, “Felina,” the acclaimed crime drama comes to a close in the series finale.
Watch the 75-minute series finale tonight on AMC at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race, The Good Wife, The Mentalist, Once Upon a Time, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, Rachael vs. Guy: Kids Cook-Off, The Great Food Truck Race, Cutthroat Kitchen, Talking Bad, Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited, Hello Ladies, Homeland, and Masters of Sex.
Another show I’ve been waiting for all summer returns tonight: Revenge! After a bit of a sophmore slump during the first half of the second season, the second half and especially the season finale were great! Suspenseful and exciting. And tonight, we’re continuing with the show after Emily’s big reveal.
The season finale contained an explosion in Greyson headquarters, the death of Conrad, the return of Victoria’s lost son, and ended with Emily telling Jack who she really is to prevent him from killing Conrad. And moving forward, it will be very intersting to see how this affected their relationship and if Emily uses Patrick to get to Victoria.
On tonight’s episode, “Fear,” the season starts with another flashforward, which might lead to the demise of Emily Thorne. Back at the start of the summer, Emily’s path to revenge is invigorated and set to an unexpected timeline, while the return of Patrick brings changes and complications to the all-powerful family.
Find out which changes on ABC at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching Once Upon a Time.
