If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/29/14

My real life isn’t going nearly as smooth as my life would be if I was on a TV show, so I’m super excited all my favorite shows are returning with new episodes. Last week was like Christmas every day, and this week promises to be as exciting, so let’s see what we’re recommending.

Megan’s Choice

ncisla929smallI know that there are tons of shows I love and rave about, but few are as near and dear to my heart as NCIS: LA. There’s just something about this show that makes me smile and gush each week while watching my favorite NCIS agents kick ass in their professional lives while more often than not having drama in their personal lives. It’s perfection. When we left our heroes, Kensi and Deeks were going back and forth on the love front, while Sam and Callen were trapped in a submarine with terrorists… See? Never a dull moment. This season, I hope to see Kensi and Deeks as a couple and of course Sam and Callen safe and with the rest of the team. Another story line that I’m excited to see what happens is the Eric and Nell love match, because the chemistry between those two is insane!

On the season premiere, “Deep Trouble, Pt II,” Callen and Sam are trapped in an armed submarine that terrorists have aimed to hit an aircraft carrier in San Diego. Meanwhile, Hetty defies orders and forgoes her trip to Washington as the team tries to locate and save Callen and Sam and also prevent the terrorist attack. Mercedes Masohn guest stars.

To see if the team can save the guys in time, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Sleepy Hollow, The Voice, Gotham, The Big Bang Theory, Scorpion, Castle, and The Blacklist.

Jenny’s Choice #1

castle929smallMy first pick tonight is the season premiere of Castle. Last season had an explosive ending, almost literally. First we found out Beckett was married—she got married years before in Vegas but didn’t believe it was real until she and Castle went to get their marriage license and she was asked for her divorce papers. They tracked him down (*waves to Eddie McClintock!*) and after nearly getting killed because of his shenanigans, they convinced him to sign the divorce papers. Then, only minutes before they were supposed to be married, with Beckett in her dress and her makeup and hair done, Castle was on his way back to the Hamptons after filing the divorce papers, they were on the phone when suddenly, the line went dead and we saw a big black SUV ready to ram into him from the side. Beckett raced off to find him, only to find his car, on fire, down an embankment.

The end.

Obviously Castle can’t die. He’s half the show and the titular character. But is he trapped in the burning car? If not, where is he and how did he get out of the car? Who ran into him…and why?? Maybe more importantly…will Castle and Beckett EVER tie the knot?? I’ve seen the premiere already, so I know the answer to at least one of those questions… 😉

On tonight’s episode, “Driven,” the show will pick-up at the scene of Castle’s accident, right where the finale left off, in a premiere that promises to put Beckett through the toughest case of her career.

Find out Castle’s fate tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

Kyle’s Choice

sleepyhollow929smallLast week, Sleepy Hollow returned in full force. While searching through some of Ben Franklin’s hidden files, Ichabod and Abbie discovered a rubbing of a powerful key, a remnant of the secret Hellfire Club, which can open a portal to Purgatory. They realized that Henry was the only person who could help them find the key, so they took the information to him. However, they soon discovered this was another trick by the Horseman of War to get information on the key to provide to Moloch—Abbie was actually still in purgatory, and Ichabod was still buried alive. Abbie managed to escape her chains and make her way to Molach’s house, where she was able to contact Crane, who had also managed to escape from his coffin. Ichabod joined up with Jenny, and they found the key, which Crane used to enter Purgatory and rescue Abbie. Moloch discovered the plan and tried to follow, but the door closed just in time and the key disintegrated.

It was quite an action-packed premiere and really set a high bar for the season. It will be interesting to see what Moloch has planned next. At the end of the episode, we saw him with a living suit of armor holding a flaming sword—is this just one of a much larger army? How will Crane stop him? How will Henry factor into Moloch’s plans? And will Ichabod ever be reunited with his wife Katrina?

On tonight’s episode, “The Kindred,” Ichabod and Abbie hatch a desperate plan to rescue Katrina from the Headless Horseman that involves a Frankenstein-type monster created by Benjamin Franklin. Meanwhile, Frank’s revelation about his encounter with a demon gets him in more trouble; and Jenny clashes with the new sheriff.

See if Ichabod and Abbie can rescue Katrina tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Scorpion, Castle, The Blacklist, Gotham, and Rewrapped.

Jenny’s Choice #2

scorpion929smallI had to pick a second choice tonight because I’m so excited for the 2nd episode of Scorpion to air. I loved the premiere as much the second time as I did the first. Was it a little unrealistic and outrageous? Parts of it, yeah. But to me, that’s what made it fun. I don’t want to watch real life all the time. For me, TV is pure entertainment, and this show is definitely that. Plus, Walter is adorable. I’m already shipping…Waige? Palter?…Walter/Paige hard. LOL I’ve seen tonight’s episode, and honestly, I liked it even more than the first episode. I know the premiere was necessary to introduce the characters, but already in episode two, we see so much more to all of them. The excitement is a little more realistic but no less exciting and “edge of your seat” than the premiere was. So if you aren’t sure about the show after the airplane/racing car/computer scene in the premiere, please be sure to check out tonight’s episode because I think it’ll change your mind. If you’re already a fan of the show, gear up to fall even more for it!

On tonight’s episode, “Single Point of Failure,” the governor calls on Team Scorpion when his daughter is mysteriously “bio-hacked” with a deadly virus and has only 24 hours to live. Meanwhile, the case takes on a deeper significance for Walter after he receives a letter regarding his sister. Joel Gretsch (V, The 4400) & Erick Avari (Warehouse 13) guest star.

To see if Team Scorpion can save the governor’s daughter, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Dancing with the Stars, Gotham, Rewrapped, & NCIS: LA.
