This Week on TV – 11/2/14-11/8/14

Welcome to a new week of TV! There were two more cancellations this week, and I have to say I kind of wondered if they were coming. While I was fond of them both A to Z & Bad Judge, there wasn’t a lot of buzz about them that I could see, and I figured that spelled problems. From what I can tell, both will air their remaining episodes. As for the rest of TV this week, there’s plenty on, so check it out!

Don’t forget to comment or Tweet @tvismypacifier to let us know what YOU are planning to watch!

Tonight is the series premiere of Billy Bob’s Gags to Riches on Discovery Channel at 10/9c. Jonah White, the founder of Billy Bob Teeth in Hardin, Illinois and CEO of a multi-million dollar gag-gift empire, is in search of new products for his redneck-approved Billy Bob line. After taking the Halloween and costume industries by storm and building an empire based on his own invention of fake redneck buck teeth, Jonah has accomplished the America dream and created a booming business with over 300 products sold throughout the world, including over 20 million Billy Bob Teeth. Now, inventors from all over are coming to Billy Bob World to pitch Jonah their own outrageous ideas for a piece of the pie. Jonah, a self-made businessman who created his own wealth based on hard work, family values and a funny idea, continues to live out his dreams in the same small, close-knit town that he grew up in. Now, with a family of his own, a sprawling log cabin-style mansion, hundreds of exotic animals, and zip lines crisscrossing his property, Jonah seeks to strike a balance between the indulgent lifestyle he can now afford, while raising his family with the same values that were instilled in him during his childhood.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Search for the Lost Giants on History Channel at 10/9c. Stonemasons Jim and Bill Vieira are on a quest to investigate an incredible theory: that the myths and legends we’ve all been told about giants are actually rooted in fact. Jim has researched over 1,000 accounts of skeletons seven feet tall or over unearthed across America in the 19th and 20th centuries. This show will follow the Vieira brothers on their quest to find evidence of these missing bones, which seem to have slipped through the hands of history. They’ll dig for secret chambers, explore underground tunnels and dive into the deepest museum storage vaults–all to find that one bone, that one hair, that single strand of giant DNA that will answer the question: did giants walk the Earth?

Tonight is the series premiere of Fix My Choir on Oxygen at 10/9c. In this bold and uplifting series, struggling choirs get some much-needed mentoring from gospel superstar Deitrick Haddon (Preachers of L.A.) and Grammy Award-winning recording artist Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child fame. In each episode, Deitrick and Michelle travel to a different hometown to surprise a struggling gospel choir, community choir or other vocal group to help them find perfect harmony – not only in their music, but with each other. Together with an intervention and makeover, the choirs will ultimately have a chance for redemption. Over the course of a week, the mentors dive deep into the members’ lives to tackle the choir’s core issues such as leadership, interpersonal conflicts, artistic direction, and doing whatever it takes to get these choirs back on track with a big sound and newfound confidence. Deitrick and Michelle will take these choirs to the next level of singing, collaboration, and presentation, all in an effort to make the ordinary extraordinary.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The Game on BBC America at 10/9c. A complex invisible war is being fought by skilled spies trained in the high stakes world of covert espionage. In 1972 London, tensions are at a terrifying peak as the world’s super powers plot against their enemies. The threat: a dangerous and deadly Soviet plot, designed to bring Britain to its knees, dubbed Operation Glass. This is where The Game begins–a stylish, character-driven spy drama that explores the lives and lies of the invisible soldiers fighting a secret war. When an MI5 agent is contacted by a defecting KGB officer about the plan to destroy the British establishment, MI5 leader, Daddy (Brian Cox, The Bourne Supremacy, An Adventure in Space and Time), assembles a secret committee to investigate the threat in a frantic race against time. Their mission: stop the plot, save Britain and in turn, the world.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Kitchen Inferno on Food Network at 10/9c. The game is simple but the stakes are red hot. Each episode features talented chefs going head-to-head in culinary showdowns over four possible rounds. Each round will have a blind taste-test judged by the Inferno’s panel of judges to determine which dish is best. If the competing chef is victorious, they have the chance to move up to the next level, with each round advancement growing in difficulty as they bring the skills of a new culinary talent to battle against. The contestants also face a pivotal choice: take the money and run, or risk it all for a chance to reach the final round and win up to $25,000, all in front of a studio audience. If they lose, they will watch their winnings go up in smoke and leave with nothing. Can these chefs cook their way through four rounds in this blazing competition for the ultimate prize?
