Tonight is the series premiere of The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst on HBO at 8/7c. The six-part documentary series exposes long-buried information discovered during Andrew Jarecki’s & Marc Smerling’s seven-year investigation of a series of unsolved crimes, and the man suspected of being at its center – Robert Durst, scion of New York’s billionaire Durst family – and was made with his full cooperation. Brilliant, reclusive and the subject of relentless media scrutiny, Durst has never spoken publicly – until now. During exclusive interviews with Jarecki, he talks with startling candor, revealing secrets of a case that has baffled authorities for 30 years. Long suspected in the 1982 disappearance of his beautiful young wife in New York, the 2000 murder of the key witness in the case in Beverly Hills, and the subsequent murder and dismemberment of a neighbor in Galveston, Tex., Durst has consistently maintained his innocence, and remains a free man today. This unprecedented documentary event tracks Jarecki as he develops a relationship with Durst, unearthing thousands of pages of hidden documents, police files, key witnesses, never-before-seen footage and private prison recordings.

Tonight is also the 75-minute series premiere of Better Call Saul on AMC at 10/9c. Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White’s lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is “fixer” Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts “criminal” in “criminal lawyer.” The series also stars Michael McKean as Chuck McGill, Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler, Patrick Fabian as Howard Hamlin, and Michael Mando as Nacho Varga — characters that will represent both legitimate and illegitimate sides of the law.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Coaching Bad on Spike TV at 10/9c. Good coaches motivate us, inspire us, and teach us the skills to win. However, there is a growing crisis of coaches with uncontrollable anger issues spreading across today’s sports landscape. From Bobby Knight to Mike Rice, too many men and women coaching American athletes, of all ages, often cross the line in what is acceptable behavior on the sidelines or in the dugout. Spike TV has brought together NFL legend Ray Lewis and acclaimed anger management specialist and author Dr. Christian Conte to work with nine coaches who have recognized that they need to change their combative and often bombastic ways if they want to continue in the profession they love. The coaches, who come from a variety of different sports from all around the country, move into a Coaching Center in Los Angeles for intense retraining and reconditioning. During the course of the retraining program, various sports figures will lend their perspective on the negative effects of caustic coaching. The list of guest speakers includes Chuck Pagano, Bill Romanowski, and Glen “Big Baby” Davis.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Legend of the Superstition Mountains on History Channel at 10/9c. The Superstition Mountains are an enigmatic land with a cursed history. Stretching across 160,000 acres of unforgiving Arizona desert may reside a $200 million fortune — lost gold that is the epicenter of a 500-year-old mystery. Thousands have tried and failed to decode the series of cryptic clues said to lead to the fortune, leaving a trail of bodies and blood for anyone who has gotten too close to the truth. Now, new evidence dares five brave treasure hunters to defy the curse and tackle the deadly terrain to unearth the secrets of the Lost Dutchman’s gold. The Superstition Mountains has long been targeted by fortune hunters and is the backdrop for dozens of mysterious and unexplained deaths. Its storied deadly treasure-trove of gold links back to the Conquistadors in the 1500s, but of all the legends to come out of these mountains, the most famous story is that of the Lost Dutchman Mine. The Dutchman, Jacob Waltz, was a prospector who came to the area in the 1860s. Legend says that Waltz discovered an untapped mine with enough gold to make millionaires out of 20 men. The Dutchman’s legend claims that he killed four people to find the mine, and three more to keep it a secret – a secret he took to his grave. On his deathbed in 1891, he confessed a series of cryptic riddles about the location of his treasure. Other clues revealed through the years have kept the legend alive, and have sent thousands in search for answers. Many at their own peril.
