This Week on TV – 8/2/15-8/8/15

Welcome to a new week of TV! I’d like to apologize for the lack of updates for a couple of weeks. Friday, July 17th, I went to the ER with a fever of 103. They gave me morphine, which exasperated the problems I was already having with fluid on my lungs, and I suddenly quit breathing. The next day, after struggling for hours to keep a breathing mask in place and feeling like I was drowning, they finally put me on a ventilator. I came off the vent the next Friday, the 24th. After being in ICU for several more days, I was moved to a regular hospital room, where I spent several days before being released on Friday the 31st, to a rehab facility, which is where I am currently. I don’t acticipate being here very long, but for now, all I can promise is the weekly schedule. I’ll try to get the daily ones up, but there won’t be Remote posts and I doubt there will be many daily posts up until I’m finally back at home and can relax. Thank you for all the support! Now, there are a bunch of great new episodes this week, so be sure to check out the schedule so you don’t miss anything!

Tonight is the series premiere of Job or No Job on ABC Family at 9/8c. The show follows one young adult per episode on his/her journey to land a first job. Each job seeker will go on three interviews, and we will watch the intense ride to find out if he or she lands three, two, one – or zero offers. Jane Buckingham (Founder and CEO of Trendera and bestselling author of The Modern Girls Guide to Life) will be the career expert.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Mr. Robinson on NBC at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 9:30/8:30c. As lead singer and keyboardist of the funk band Nasty Delicious, Craig (Craig Robinson, The Office) knows a thing or two about working the crowd, but his day job is where he really makes the grade. Every struggling artist knows the drill: you have to pay the bills while you wait for that big break. So when Craig finds himself short on cash, he takes a job as a substitute high school music teacher. It’s an easy gig, right? Yet when he realizes the kids think his class is an easy A, Craig’s moved to inspire his students. The school principal (Peri Gilpin, Frasier) believes that rules are made to be strictly upheld. She’s none too fond of Craig’s unorthodox teaching style, or his crush on the pretty English teacher (recurring guest star Meagan Good, Think Like a Man). It’s a constant struggle for Craig, having one foot in the music world with his band, Nasty Delicious, and having one foot in the teaching world. But if Craig wants to get the girl of his dreams and teach these kids the joys of music, he’ll have to buckle down, shape up and get the funk out. The cast also includes Ben Koldyke, Amandla Stenberg, Brandon T. Jackson, Spencer Grammer, and Tim Bagley.

Tonight is also the series premiere of A Wicked Offer on The CW at 9/8c. Couples are presented with a series of Faustian bargains, as they must decide to complete a series of scandalous and controversial tasks involving their unsuspecting friends, families and co-workers for cash prizes. With each challenge testing the couple’s moral and ethical boundaries, the couples must weigh the potential havoc wreaked on their relationship with each other and everyone involved. As each task is completed, the stakes and the cash value are raised, forcing the couple to decide how far they’re willing to go for money.

Tonight is the series premiere of Behind Bars: Rookie Year on A&E at 10/9c. Corrections departments have one of the highest drop-out rates in the country, with nearly half of all rookies falling out before their one-year anniversary. The long hours, close proximity to unpredictable criminals, mind games and constant threat of bodily harm make it an intensely stressful career. Behind Bars: Rookie Year follows a group of new recruits at the New Mexico Corrections Academy (NMCA) who are training or have recently joined the ranks at the Penitentiary of New Mexico (PNM). These rookies come face-to-face with rapists, murderers, and gang members who take pleasure in preying on weakness. Every new recruit hoping to join the department goes through a rigorous training program designed to test their fortitude and give them the tools needed to survive one of the most dangerous working environments on the planet. But as each day passes, the physical and emotional demands often prove too much for some, and even the best training can’t prepare a rookie for the unexpected. Whether they’re cadets in training or brand new on the line, the officers all wrestle with a critical life-or-death question: Is it worth it?
