beyondborderssmallTonight is the series premiere of the newest Criminal Minds spinoff, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. This specialized International Division of the FBI is responsible for solving crimes and rescuing Americans who find themselves in danger while overseas. Heading the International Response Team is Unit Chief Jack Garrett (Gary Sinise, CSI: NY), a 20-year veteran of the Bureau. His team includes Clara Seger (Alana De La Garza, Forever, Law & Order), a smart, well-traveled, and multi-lingual cultural anthropologist; Matthew Simmons (Daniel Henney, Three Rivers), a former military hero with split-second profiling skills he honed on the battlefield; Russ “Monty” Montgomery (Tyler James Williams, Everybody Hates Chris), the unit’s compassionate, brilliant tech analyst who additionally liaises stateside with the families of those in trouble while his group is far from home; and Mae Jarvis (Annie Funke), the team’s fearless and fun medical examiner.

I’ve seen the first two episodes, and I think if you’re a fan of the original, you’ll really enjoy the spinoff. Even if you aren’t, I think you should give it a shot. The team has a lot of the same type of chemistry as the original, with a lot of fun personalities. And come on! It’s Gary Sinise! He’s great, of course, but I also REALLY loved the others. Henney’s Simmons and Funke’s Jarvis have a fun relationship, with hints of Morgan and Garcia, but not a romance, because Simmons is happily married with kids. And Monty is a great counterpart for Garcia, although not quite as eccentric. But there’s the difference of being in really cool locations overseas, and the cases are a bit different, as well.

On tonight’s episode, “The Harmful One,” Unit Chief Jack Garrett and his International Response Team (IRT) travel to Thailand when three American volunteers go missing during a trek to Bangkok. They reconnect with former colleague Clara Seger, who helps them rush to gather evidence leading to the UnSub before a storm threatens to wash it away.

Meet the new team tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Rosewood, The Goldbergs, Hell’s Kitchen, Modern Family, Property Brothers, Wahlburgers, black-ish, & Donnie Loves Jenny.

theamericans316smallTonight, FX’s amazing cold war spy drama, The Americans, returns for its fourth season. When we last left off, Philip and Elizabeth finally revealed the truth about themselves to Paige. She struggled with this news that her parents were Russian spies and eventually confided in Pastor Tim. Elsewhere, Beeman had hopes of getting Nina back to the US by trading her for Zinaida, but the government had its eyes on a different CIA asset. At the same time, Nina was still in Russia trying to gain control of her own fate by getting closer to researcher Anton and observing his work. Meanwhile, Philip arranged the fake suicide of an FBI computer tech in hopes of getting the investigation into Martha closed. But will this just make things worse when Martha realizes what “Clark” has done to clear her name?! Can she live with an innocent man’s death on her conscience?

I’m so excited for tonight’s season premiere. What is Pastor Tim going to do with this huge and dangerous news? What if Philip and Elizabeth find out he knows? I can’t expect he’ll be around much longer afterwards! Is there any hope of the Jennings turning their daughter? Will Nina make it back to the US, and if so, with whom will her loyalties really be with?

On tonight’s episode, “Glanders,” Philip and Elizabeth face the fallout from their previous actions and get a new bioweapons assignment. Elsewhere: Pastor Tim grapples with the revelation that Philip and Elizabeth are Russian spies.

See what Pastor Tim does with the information tonight on FX at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Survivor, Criminal Minds, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, The Middle, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, black-ish, Young & Hungry, Baby Daddy, Face Off, The Internet Ruined My Life, and Younger.

criminalminds316smallThe last two episodes of Criminal Minds have been incredible and also super emotionally exhausting with Derek being in peril. We watched as Derek was kidnapped and tortured, but he got through it mostly because of his visions of his father. The team eventually found him, and he was alive to ask his girlfriend to marry him – especially because she’s now carrying his child! I guess Derek and Garcia are really going to stay friends for now, which is, I suppose, the best I’m going to get. At least I still get to see him on my TV screen.

On tonight’s episode, “The Sandman,” the BAU heads to Wichita in search of an UnSub abducting children while their parents sleep. Also, Morgan tries to find who was responsible for his attack.

Find out if they can solve this case and if Derek can find the purpose behind his attack tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Rosewood and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.
