Tonight is the series premiere of Hunted on CBS at 10/9c. The show challenges ordinary people to go on the run as fugitives and evade capture by an elite team of investigators pursuing them. It follows nine teams of two in a real-life manhunt as they attempt the nearly impossible task of disappearing in today’s vast digital world, as highly skilled investigators combine state-of-the-art tracking methods with traditional tactics to pursue and catch them. From searching their targets’ homes and scouring their internet and cell phone histories, to identifying behavioral patterns, Hunters in the field and Command Center investigators work together to identify clues to potential hiding places and collaborators that can ultimately lead to capture. Will the anxiety of being fugitives on the run cause teams to make a critical error, or will they be able to stay off the grid long enough to avoid being found within 100,000 square miles of the southeastern United States? A grand prize of $250,000 will be awarded to each team that successfully evades being caught for up to 28 days.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Secrets of the Six Wives on PBS at 10/9c. Historian Lucy Worsley time-travels to the Tudor court to witness some of the most dramatic moments in the lives of Henry VIII’s six spouses. Combining drama and historical sources, with her own commentary, Worsley offers insights into a world run by men, where the king had ultimate power and each queen found unique methods of exerting her influence.

Tonight is the series premiere of Bakers vs. Fakers on Food Network at 10/9c. Four competitors battle it out each episode for ultimate bragging rights and a cash prize, as Buddy Valastro hosts. Over two rounds of culinary challenges, a mix of home bakers and professional chefs must come up with delectable desserts that need to impress a rotating panel of guest judges, including Damiano Carrara, Nancy Fuller, Paulette Goto, Alex Guarnaschelli, Daphne Oz, Damaris Phillips, Lorraine Pascale, Natalie Sideserf, and Zac Young. With no higher standards for the professionals and no sympathy for the amateurs, a blind taste test will determine the best dessert. Only after the winner is selected will the true identities be revealed. If a professional is victorious, they take home $10,000, but if an amateur can beat the odds and take down the pros, they walk away with $15,000!

Tonight is the series premiere of Riverdale on The CW at 9/8c. As a new school year begins, the town of Riverdale is reeling from the recent, tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom, and nothing feels the same… Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) is still the all-American teen, but the summer’s events made him realize that he wants to pursue a career in music — not follow in his dad’s footsteps — despite the sudden end of his forbidden relationship with Riverdale’s young music teacher, Ms. Grundy (Sarah Habel). Which means Archie doesn’t have anyone who will mentor him — certainly not singer Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), who is only focused on her band, the soon-to-be-world-famous Pussycats. It’s all weighing heavily on Archie’s mind, as is his fractured friendship with budding writer and fellow classmate Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse). Meanwhile, girl-next-door Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) is anxious to see her crush Archie after being away all summer, but she’s not quite ready to reveal her true feelings to him. And Betty’s nerves — which are hardly soothed by her overbearing mother Alice (Mädchen Amick) aren’t the only thing holding her back. When a new student, Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), arrives in town from New York with her mother Hermione (Marisol Nichols), there’s an undeniable spark between her and Archie, even though Veronica doesn’t want to risk her new friendship with Betty by making a play for Archie. And then there’s Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch)… Riverdale’s Queen Bee is happy to stir up trouble amongst Archie, Betty, and Veronica, but Cheryl is keeping secrets of her own. What, exactly, is she hiding about the mysterious death of her twin brother, Jason? Riverdale may look like a quiet, sleepy town, but there are dangers in the shadows…

Tonight is also the complete first season premiere of Z: The Beginning of Everything on Amazon at 3:01AM/2:01AMc. (The pilot aired back in November 2015…) This is a ground-breaking concept: a fictionalized bio series of the life of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, the brilliant, beautiful and talented Southern Belle who becomes the original flapper and icon of the wild, flamboyant, Jazz Age in the 20s. The series begins the moment Zelda meets the unpublished writer F. Scott Fitzgerald in Montgomery, Alabama in 1918 and moves through their passionate, turbulent love affair and their marriage — made in heaven, lived out in hell — as the celebrity couple of their time. It will show us the alcoholism, adultery, and struggle with dashed dreams and mental illness that leads to Zelda’s tragic, untimely end. It dives into the fascinating life of a woman ahead of her time, an artist determined to establish her own identity in the tempestuous wake of a world-famous husband. A modern take on one of the most notorious love stories of all time, it will be played out in salons and speak-easies from Montgomery, Alabama to the Cote D’Azur. The show stars Christina Ricci, David Strathairn, Gaven Stenhouse, Holly Curran, Jamie Anne Allman, Kristine Nielsen, Maya Kazan, & Sarah Schenkkan.

Saturday

Saturday is the season premiere of Counting Cars on History Channel at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 9:30/8:30c.

Following that is the series premiere of Detroit Steel on History Channel at 10/9c. This new unscripted series celebrates the Motor City’s automotive legacy by creating rare, custom rides that mix Detroit’s celebrated past and its evolving future. Adam Genei and the team at his car customization shop, Mobsteel, give vintage cars a modern, mean look. From the days of Henry Ford and the Model T, Detroit has always been where car legends are born. Though the city has had its ups and downs, Genei and his wife and co-owner, Pam, are committed to fostering American engineering and bringing back Detroit one car at a time. Like their slogan says, Mobsteel, along with Adam’s sister business Detroit Steel Wheels, builds “rides to die for.” From classic cars that call back to America’s automotive roots to muscle cars that need a supercharged rebirth, the team is up for any challenge. Whether they are discovering hidden automotive treasures in a garage, a junkyard, or from a collector, they take full advantage of the history available in Detroit. If they can’t find a part, the Mobsteel team makes it themselves. The end product is a never-before-seen creation that transforms the best of Motown into a one-of-a-kind ride that is the envy of car enthusiasts across the country.
