If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/23/17

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

Tonight, Supergirl returns from its holiday hiatus. When we last left off, CADMUS had unleashed its deadly Project Medusa virus, which had originally been created by Kara’s father as a precautionary weapon to kill all non-Kryptonians but has now been altered to eliminate all non-humans. A small-scale test of the weapon left Mon-El infected and Eliza looking for a cure. Supergirl tried to stop Lillian from dispersing more of the virus, but she arrived too late – Lena had already launched the rocket. However, it turned out that Lena was only pretending to help her mother and that she had replaced the virus with an inert gas. Elsewhere, J’onn was locked in a battle with Cyborg Superman and was forced to use his White Martian mutation to defeat him. At the end of the episode, Alex finally got a chance to come out to her sister, just before Kara was whisked off by Barry Allen and Cisco for her big DC crossover adventure.

How will Kara’s other-earthly adventures affect her now that she’s back on her own Earth? Can Lena be trusted – is there really such a thing as a good Luthor? Has J’onn finally accepted the fact that he’s going to become a White Martian, or will he continue to look for ways to fight the mutation? I really enjoy Supergirl because it is one of the lighter, more fun shows in The CW’s DC lineup. The series has already been renewed for a third season, so there’s plenty more fun adventures for Kara to come.

On tonight’s episode, “Supergirl Lives,” the story of a missing woman named Izzy moves Kara to investigate, even though Snapper Carr has told her to leave the matter alone. When Kara and Mon-El check out the last place Izzy was seen, they end up thrust through a portal to another planet, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves as part of a trafficking ring run by Roulette. Meanwhile, Alex blames herself – and her new relationship with Maggie – for her sister’s disappearance.

Find out how Kara gets home tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Quantico, Man With a Plan, The Celebrity Apprentice, Timeless, Gotham, Lucifer, Jane the Virgin, Beyond, and The Young Pope.

On the previous episode of 2 Broke Girls, Max and Caroline finally made it to the movie set where Randy was working, but Max kept chickening out and hiding from him. They decided to get parts as extras in the movie, which turned out to be zombies. (Don’t get me started on Caroline deciding suddenly that she was an actress and how horrible she was at it! Ugh. LMAO) While they were all decked out looking pretty damn awesome and hanging from meat hooks, they overheard Randy talking to his client about how he was having trouble moving on but he knew he needed to. So Max decided he deserved the chance to do that, since a long-distance relationship between them wouldn’t really work. Back at home, the crowd at the diner was getting irritated by all the banging around coming from the dessert bar next door, so they ended up firing the contractor. Then Oleg, who was trying to prove his manliness to Sophie and their baby daughter, tried to hang the door the contractor had been working on, but it didn’t work out so well.

So have we seen the last of Randy? I’ve loved Ed Quinn in this comedic role (I’d only seen him in dramas/dramedies until now). And as odd as their pairing seems, I loved him and Max together. So I’m hopeful that somehow, things will work out. And what about the dessert bar? Will the girls be able to get it back up and running easily after the hurricane? I’m so excited about tonight’s episode because one of my favorite actors is guest starring! I’ve loved Chris Gorham since Jake 2.0, so I’m hoping he’ll be back for multiple episodes!

On tonight’s episode, “And the Emergency Contractor,” when Max and Caroline get home from their road trip, Caroline discovers she likes the dessert bar renovations as much as she likes Bobby (Christopher Gorham), the contractor on the job. Also, Max rushes to Randy’s side when she hears he’s in the hospital in New York City, and Sophie joins a mommy group that cares more about partying than baby talk.

See what happens when Max sees Randy again tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Kevin Can Wait, Kids Baking Championship, Man With a Plan, Cake Wars, & Scorpion.
