If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/6/17

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

I’m excited because A) it’s post-Halloween and B) shows like Holiday Baking Championship & Christmas Cookie Challenge are starting tonight. Add those up, and it means it’s the start of the holiday season! Thanksgiving in a few weeks and then Christmas a month later… It makes my heart happy. Lots of quality family time, great food, smiles… What isn’t to love about all that? And that’s why Food Network is my pick tonight for what you should watch.

Nine new bakers are competing in the Holiday Baking Championship to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Chanukah. Jesse Palmer returns as host, while Duff Goldman, Nancy Fuller, and Lorraine Pascale are back as the judges. The contestants will make everything from a candy cane dessert to a fruitcake and more in order to win a $50,000 grand prize and the title of Holiday Baking Champion.

On tonight’s episode, “Holiday Party Delights,” to kick things off, nine bakers must create eye-catching and tantalizing new holiday treats for seasonal parties. In the pre-heat, bakers create a dessert with an unusual candy cane flavor, and then, for the main heat, they use a holiday cocktail as sweet inspiration. One unlucky baker goes home.

Christmas Cookie Challenge is new this season, with host Eddie Jackson (winner of Food Network Star) and lead judge Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman on Food Network). More like Chopped than Holiday Baking Championship, each episode will feature five talented cookie makers who compete in two challenges, the winner of which will walk away with a $10,000 prize each week. There will be a rotating panel of guest judges joining Ree Drummond, including Damiano Carrara, Dan Langan, Jamika Pessoa, Aarti Sequeira, and more.

On tonight’s episode, “Christmas Family Fun,” first up is the decorating challenge where the bakers craft two different decorated Christmas tree cookies, and two bakers go home. The remaining three finalists are “puzzled” by the display challenge, where they must create a giant cookie puzzle based on a Christmas carol.

Check out both shows tonight on Food Network starting at 9/8.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Dancing with the Stars, The Gifted, 9JKL, Scorpion, & The Brave.

Megan’s Choice

The Brave is a complex show at times, and I have been loving it. The way the team works together to save people all over the globe is incredible. It definitely doesn’t hurt matters that the cast is sexy and has a high level of chemistry. I’m hooked – are you?

Last week, McG flirted with a woman in a bar in Spain and ended up spending the night with her. She turned out to be the daughter of a Russian spy, and after she saw McG’s Special Forces tattoo, she asked him to help her father to defect. Turned out he had cancer, and since they knew Russia would let him die than spend money to cure him, they knew that if he could defect and give the US high-level info, they’d make sure he was given medical care. The team worked to keep him alive when some bad guys from another country came for him (he’d sold false info to them, telling his daughter that a bullet would be a faster/easier death than the cancer, and this way she’d have money after he was gone).

Even Noah and Megan got in on the action – Noah went undercover to try to vet some info the spy gave them about someone in one of the US alphabet agencies selling US secrets, while Megan searched the woman’s house. They ended up getting her after she held Noah at gunpoint, and the Russian spy ended up safe in the hands of the US. McG and the daughter shared a sweet moment & kiss at the end, and I hope we see her or hear about her again because they were too cute together!

On tonight’s episode, “It’s All Personal,” as the team heads to Paris on a mission connected to Amir’s undercover past, things get more personal than they would like. With stakes as high as ever, the unit learns more about their newest member and what might have brought him to them.

To see what brought Amir to the team, tune in to NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching The Voice, Lucifer, Scorpion, The Gifted, and Kevin Can Wait.
