This week, we are seeing a lot of series and season premieres, returning shows, and the Golden Globes. An exciting week! And today, we are featuring two shows on Showtime, which can be watched for free today! (For more information, see: Sho.com). Jenny & Megan are taking a break today, so check out what Kyle & I think you should be watching.
I started the first season of House of Lies for one reason: Kristen Bell. I hadn’t watched any previews, so I didn’t know what I was getting into, and I made the mistake of starting to watch the first episode on my laptop while on public transportation. Not really smart, but I started loving the show from the first moment it started. And the balance between the cases-of-the-week and the season-long stories is very nice.
Season 1 featured Marty (Don Cheadle) and his team, the Pod, consulting for the company Galweather while a merger with MetroCapital was looming which would cause most of them to get fired. The season ended with Jeanie (Kristen Bell) doing the right thing in exposing the sexual harassment that has been going on at Galweather, which also effectively cancelled the merger and saved a lot of jobs. During the season, there was a lot of sex, awkward humour, and Marty getting increasingly farther away from his son. And it ended with Marty and Jeanie hooking up.
On tonight’s episode, “Stochasticity,” Marty and the Pod adjust, and Jeannie relives haunting memories from a drunken night.
Check it out tonight on Showtime at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of House of Lies @ Clicker.
I’ll also be watching The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Don’t Trust the B— in Apt 23, Happy Endings, Once Upon a Time, and Revenge.

Tonight, Shameless returns for its third season on Showtime. When we last saw the Gallaghers, Monica was recovering from her attempted suicide—and admitted herself for an additional 60 days in the hospital to recover—while Frank plotted to break her out. Sheila insisted on keeping Karen’s baby, so Karen packed up and left. Steve/Jimmy finally told Fiona that he loved her—however, this was quickly disrupted by Estefania showing up at the door and telling him that she needed her “husband” because Marco had hit her. Meanwhile, Fiona learned she passed her GED, and Lip returned home.
What’s great about the Gallaghers is that they can be so crude and politically incorrect, but they always have a lot of heart. I’ve already seen the first four episodes of the season, and it is off to a great start—the show is just as hilarious, crass, and entertaining as ever!
On tonight’s episode, “El Gran Canon,” Fiona adapts to living with Jimmy; Frank awakens in a strange place; and Lip gets sentenced to community service. Meanwhile, Jody and Sheila are losing sleep over Baby Hymie’s nocturnal restlessness.

I’ll also be watching/recording The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, The Good Wife, The Mentalist, Once Upon a Time, Revenge, Happy Endings, Don’t Trust the B— in Apt 23, The Cleveland Show, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and Rachael vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-Off.
