If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/7/13

I couldn’t believe that my pick for last Thursday achieved record-setting ratings for the lowest in-season premiere on the major four networks ever in the history of ratings! (Have I mentioned how much I hate the Neilsen ratings?!) That said, I still stand by it—I really enjoyed the series and hope that the Nielsen families find it tonight because I want to see more. Speaking of seeing more, Thursdays are once again a packed night for new TV, and we’ve got some suggestions for what you should check out.

kingofthenerds27smallI’ve been enjoying TBS’s new reality competition series, King of the Nerds. In last week’s Nerd War, the teams had to fly tablet-controlled quadcopters through an obstacle course. It looked like the Orange team had it in the bag, but Virgil made a miraculous recovery for his team, giving them their first win. Despite Joshua’s promises not to vote for her, the Orange team put up Danielle, and the Blue team voted to put up Brandon. Seeing the intra-team strife it would cause if Danielle stayed, the blue team was hoping that Brandon would go home. They got their wish when Brandon failed at the Nerd-Off—he had a lot of trouble maneuvering his radio-controlled golf cart to push a ball into a goal.

Devastation is too weak of a word to describe my feelings when the Blue team won. I cannot stand Alana—I find her constant complaining and her low-energy excitement move so annoying. I really hope that Danielle won’t let Joshua’s “backstabbing” get her distracted—the Orange team needs to win this week and put Alana up for elimination!

On tonight’s episode, “Supernerds,” superhero trivia tests the nerds, with special guests Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes.

Don’t miss the nerdy fun tonight on TBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of King of the Nerds @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/recording Do No Harm, The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, Grey’s Anatomy, Community, Parks and Recreation, The Office, 1600 Penn, Glee, Archer, Legit, and Suits.

tbbt27smallLast week’s The Big Bang Theory was fantastically funny, with Sheldon having to work with Kripke. Having Kripke talking to Sheldon about him having sex with Amy was hysterical. Sheldon trying to make it seem like he was was absolutely brilliant. But I think one of my favorite moments was Penny and Leonard asking Sheldon if he & Amy were ever going to intimate sexually, and her reaction when he said maybe someday. I laughed harder at Penny’s reaction than I can remember laughing in a while.

This show is perfect, it really is. I love it each and every week it’s on. Brilliant, funny, smart, and adorable—you can’t get any better than this one.

On tonight’s episode, “The Spoiler Alert Segmentation,” when Sheldon and Leonard fight, it affects Penny’s and Amy’s living arrangements. Meanwhile, Raj takes care of Mrs. Wolowitz while Howard is away.

If you need thirty minutes of non-stop laughter, tune into CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Big Bang Theory @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Two and a Half Men, Person of Interest, 1600 Penn, Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell, King of the Nerds, & Elementary.

donoharm27smallI was shocked when there were so many negative comments on my Twitter feed about Do No Harm—when I actually really enjoyed the pilot. I’ll admit that at first, the idea of a Jekyll-and-Hyde persona for a show was a little too contrived for me, but they pulled it off. If you missed the pilot, please jump on board this week because the show is honestly quite good. I love Jason and think he’s an amazing surgeon, but his alter ego Ian is sexy and oh-so-fun to watch. I’m not going to fib to you. I had difficulty knowing who I wanted to cheer for because you almost love the drama that Ian brings around…though at the end of the day, we all want good to win over evil, don’t we?

On tonight’s episode, “Don’t Answer the Phone,” after cutting off Ian’s cash flow, Jason wakes up at the wheel of a “borrowed” car with an angry drug dealer in the rear-view mirror; Dr. Kenneth Jordan becomes suspicious of Jason’s behaviour.

To see which personality will reign supreme tonight, tune into NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Do No Harm @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching Grey’s Anatomy, Person of Interest, The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, 1600 Penn, Glee, and Scandal.

community27smallTonight is finally October 16th (To understand that joke, check out YouTube)! One of the greatest comedies currently on air, Community, is returning tonight. It will be interesting to see how the show feels without Dan Harmon. It could turn out there was a method to his madness maybe? Well, all we can do is just check it out and see what happens.

You can catch up on Community on Hulu Plus, and new episodes will be up on there the day after they air!

On tonight’s episode, “History 101,” Jeff is focused on graduating because he is just a few credits away, while Dean Pelton institutes a elaborate physical competition for class space and Britta helps Abed deal with his anxiety over the prospect of the study group graduating and breaking up.

See if Britta “Brittas” it on NBC at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Community @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching American Idol, The Vampire Diaries, Parks and Recreation, Two and a Half Men, Glee, Project Runway, and Suits.
