It’s been an eventful weekend around my house—which ended with my daughter getting her hair cut short. Anyone who has ever had a daughter who hates having her hair washed or brushed will know that my actions were just and needed. It has been a daily fight with her for years, and I have been threatening to chop it off for ages, however…I never do. This time, I did. Needless to say, I don’t believe I will be having the same argument with her again, and I am proud that I actually followed through. Now, while my daughter has nightmares about her mother and scissors (FYI, there was no blood drawn, and she has no bald spots), I’m going to relax with some TV, so let’s see what’s on!
Last week was the 22nd season premiere of The Amazing Race, and already, I like this group of teams better than last season: especially Chuck & Wynonna, because his hair makes me giggle. I also really like Joey and Meghan because they are random and have fun while doing mundane things. As far as teams I do not like go, I am disliking team plastic (aka Max and Katie) because they have some serious chips on their shoulders—so big, I’m surprised they could carry their backpacks. Another team that I am not liking is John and Jessica because they are as fake as the tan that John is sporting. They have no intention of following the word they gave the others in the alliance, and that always makes me angry.
I do have to say that Bora Bora was amazing to see and that the challenge of jumping out of a plane made me pee in my pants a little at the thought. I would not do that…ever.
On tonight’s episode, “Loose Lips Sink Ships,” a fear of water sends one team into a panic in Bora Bora, while another team is saddled with a game-threatening injury.
To see if your favorite team survives another leg of the race, tune in to CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Amazing Race @ Clicker.
I’ll also be watching The 85th Annual Academy Awards, The Walking Dead, Chopped, Iron Chef America, and Worst Cooks in America.

Tonight, my TV will be glued to The 85th Annual Academy Awards, which is one of the only four awards shows I watch every year. I don’t care about the clothes people are wearing or even about most of the nominated films—it’s more of a pop culture thing than anything else. Usually, most of the Best Picture nominees are films I have either never heard of or would have never watched otherwise. In some strange desperate attempt to “prepare” for the awards, ever year I find myself trying to cram in all nine Best Picture films before the ceremony. Out of this year’s batch, Argo and Life of Pi are my favorites—but I’m really rooting for Argo.
I have the same problem with the Academy voters as I do with the Nielsen box holders. I really wish popular, mainstream, “popcorn” films would get nominated over these boring artsy movies like Beasts of the Southern Wild. The really good films—if nominated at all—usually just get put in the special effects and sound categories! My ranting aside, does anyone have any nominees they’re hoping see go home with an award this year?
To see who goes home with the awards tonight, tune in to ABC at 8:30/7:30c.
I’ll be recording The Amazing Race, Chopped, Worst Cooks in America, The Walking Dead, Talking Dead, Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited, and Shameless. (I’m always jealous of the west coast in that they get to watch The Oscars live followed by the normal primetime lineup without having to stay up all night!).
