If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/14/13

It’s mid-week, and I’m so happy because we’re one day closer to my anniversary and one day from payday. *laugh* But I’m also happy because there’s lots of good stuff on tonight. I’m still wallowing about how old my kiddo’s gotten (He started tenth grade yesterday. TENTH GRADE! It’s impossible!!), so the new TV is perfect to help keep me distracted. ;)

topshotsmallI recommended this a couple of times early this season, but I have to say once again that this is, by far, the best season of Top Shot. It isn’t just the All-Stars, although I do love seeing some of my favorites back (boo that Kelly’s gone! lol). But the way they’ve changed the show up this season has made ALL the difference. It no longer is a popularity contest, where people are voted into the elimination challenge because they aren’t a marine or they’re too young or just not as social. Now, it’s all about how well they shoot. I was okay that Kelly went home when he did because, instead of being out because he’d been sent to the elimination challenge yet again by the others, he went because he just simply didn’t shoot as well as the others. It’s been a really great season, and tonight’s episode will be one of the best of the season. There are some really fun challenges tonight.

On tonight’s episode, “Zip or Ship,” in the most daunting challenge to date, marksmen are strapped to a mechanical arm and sent soaring with the SP89. While rotating in a large circle they must shoot out a series of targets or face elimination. Two competitors zoom down a zip line course, putting their recoil management and rapid transitioning skills to the test.

Find out who goes home tonight on History Channel at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, America’s Got Talent, MasterChef, Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy, Broadchurch, Hot in Cleveland, The Exes, Top Chef Masters, & The Soul Man.

duckdynastysmallI am super excited for the season premiere of Duck Dynasty—and yes, I know how strange that sounds. The thing about this show is that it’s funny, while still being family-friendly. I love the way the family sticks together, even though they have their individual competitions. I’m loving the idea of a vow renewal for Phil and Kay after 49 years—that’s an incredible amount of time.

On tonight’s episode, “Till Duck Do Us Part,” the gang gets together to plan a surprise wedding for Phil and Kay.

To watch this awesome couple renew their vow, duck style, tune in to A&E at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching MasterChef and Top Chef Masters.

franklinbash2013smallTonight, the third season of Franklin & Bash comes to a close. Last week, the guys were defending a bounty hunter who was accused of using excessive force. They once again went to their bag of courtroom theatrics, which ended with Franklin accidentally shooting Bash in the face with a beanbag gun. Meanwhile, Stanton told Ellen that one of the partners would be leaving soon and offered her a job at the firm. And Pindar, who has been obsessed with neighbor Rob Lowe, found some footage on the spy drone he had been flying into the actor’s yard. In the video, Lowe threatens the guys, and Bash’s girlfriend Charlie can be seen in the background.

What was Charlie doing at Rob Lowe’s house, and what does that mean for her relationship with Bash? Which partner is leaving the firm? How would Ellen joining the firm affect her relationship with Franklin? I’m really enjoying this series—from the interesting cases to the crazy antics and the office/relationship drama. I wonder if we’ll be left with a cliffhanger tonight. I hope we will at least get a fourth season!

On tonight’s episode, “Gone in a Flash,” an insurance-fraud probe implicates the entire group. Meanwhile, evidence links Pindar to the destruction of the man cave; Karp’s past becomes an issue when he meets a judicial-selection committee; and Charlie anticipates leaving for San Francisco.

See how the season ends tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, Camp, MasterChef, Melissa & Joey, Baby Daddy, Top Chef Masters, Royal Pains, Broadchurch, and Futurama.

masterchef2012smallLast week was the episode of MasterChef where some past contestants could earn an apron back to compete again, and these episodes are always a bit boring to me. Although it really is a big opportunity (for instance, runner-up Joshua on season 3), it feels like a bit of a cheat because there might be other contestants deserving of the opportunity as well. But I was glad that Bri got the chance to come back, but mostly because I didn’t really care for Bime or Lynn.

On tonight’s episode, “Top 7 Compete,” the contestants must prepare a delicious and perfectly cooked T-bone steak dish. The best dish earns immunity, and this cook can decide which contestants will cook with which type of poultry for the elimination round.

Find out who wins and who will leave on FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Melissa & Joey, Baby Daddy, Hot in Cleveland, and The Challenge. And please watch Broadchurch!
