If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/26/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

ellensdesignchallengesmallIt’s no surprise that I love design shows. I also love Ellen DeGeneres. So what happens when you combine those two things? Ellen’s Design Challenge, that’s what. In a six-episode series, six competitors will tackle challenges to sketch, design, and build interesting, fun, and functional furniture. A contest will go home each week, until the last competitor standing receives $100,000 and their work is featured in HGTV Magazine.

Ellen is really, really funny, so I hope she brings her sense of humor and fun to the show. I can’t wait to see the designs the contestants come up with.

On tonight’s episode, “Episode 1,” six furniture builders garnered from all over the U.S. gather at a workshop and meet their carpenters for the first time, along with a mystery gift that they must transform into a piece of furniture, and it does not take long for temperatures to rise.

See what the mystery gift is tonight on HGTV at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Tiny House Nation, Best. Ever., & Eye Candy.

Kyle’s Choice

chasinglife126smallLast week, Chasing Life returned from its midseason hiatus, and the question of Leo’s fate was answered—he survived the surgery and seems to be back to normal. April returned to work but struggled a bit—her mind was not what it used to be after the chemo, causing her to forget to record her first assignment for her new boss. Meanwhile, Brenna got in trouble for trespassing after Greer’s parents refused to let her see her. And Sara decided to bury the hatchet with Natalie’s mother in order to find a possible bone-marrow match for April.

I really enjoyed Emma’s “oh brother”-like attitude to discovering George and Emma and kissing. Will this be the impetus to finally reveal their relationship to the girls? Will Natalie be a match, and will she be willing to undergo the bone-marrow procedure if needed? And will this lost sibling now play a larger role in the Carver family? Will April continue to struggle at work, and can she repair her relationship with Dominic, even if it’s just being friends? Is Leo now fully cured, and if so, will he continue to pursue April or move on to other ventures?

On tonight’s episode, “Guess Who’s Coming to Donate?” Natalie learns she’s a donor match for April, but she’s hesitant to undergo the procedure. Meanwhile, April takes on a soft-news assignment to please her boss; Brenna and Natalie spend time together; and Beth’s relationship with Graham causes problems.

Find out if Natalie makes the right decision tonight on ABC Family at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Gotham, Sleepy Hollow, Jane the Virgin, Sons of Liberty, and Eye Candy.

Megan’s Choice

sleepyhollow126smallSleepy Hollow is still at the top of my must-watch TV list, even if it’s hit a few hiccups lately. I think it’s the Ichabod and Katrina relationship that just isn’t flowing because it’s been hard to believe they are in love with all her lies. The chemistry honestly isn’t there for me as a viewer. Aside from that, I did enjoy the evil part of last week’s episode. I was properly creeped out by the painting coming to life, so that means a good episode for me. Frank turning himself into the police station didn’t really make sense, but it broke my heart to see Abbie wonder if Frank was there for real or if he was possessed. I hope that gets cleared up quickly because we definitely need more Frank in this show, as well as Hawley—honestly they should kill off Katrina and just have more of those two teaming up with Abbie, Crane, and Jenny because that would be a killer show. Regardless of the slightly boring Katrina stuff, this show still makes me want to come back week after week to see if good can keep defeating evil.

On tonight’s episode, “Kali Yuga,” with the help of Ichabod, Abbie and Jenny, Nick Hawley faces off against his evil childhood caretaker, and Captain Frank Irving adjusts to his new life.

To see how this all unfolds, tune in to FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Gotham, The Originals, The Fosters, Ellen’s Design Challenge, Jane the Virgin, Best. Ever., and Eye Candy.
