Jenny’s Choice

chicagopd225smallLast week’s Chicago PD was centered around Burgess—again—and was pretty rough on her. Before work, at the diner ordering breakfast, a strange guy called her out on her usual order. While on patrol, she admitted that she wasn’t sure she should’ve turned down the Intelligence gig. All of that combined to make her more restless and reCKless, as she followed her instincts about a guy (which were right, but still…) and charged into a dangerous situation without proper intelligence (knowledge, not the team) and backup. That ended up getting Roman beaten nearly to death and got dang close to them both being killed. It did up with the death of several other men. I did love seeing Adam worrying about being unable to reach her and then getting Voight to bring Intelligence in to find them based on his gut feeling alone. Bringing the story full circle, she surprised the waitress AND the strange guy at the diner the next time with something completely different than her normal order.

I feel like we’re getting more and more story lines involving her alone or her and Roman, which is okay, but…I think the others have been pushed off to the side, and I don’t like that. Maybe they can find a happy medium?

On tonight’s episode, “What Puts You On That Ledge,” Commander Fischer (guest star Kevin J. O’Connor) updates Voight on a missing officer that Narcotics had deep undercover with a robbery crew. Antonio connected with one of the crew members years ago, so he’s asked to reestablish contact to help them find the officer. Meanwhile, Roman and Burgess are dealing with a squatter situation and they enlist Chicago Fire’s Mouch (guest star Christian Stolte) to help.

See if Antonio can reestablish contact tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, The Mysteries of Laura, The Goldbergs, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, The Amazing Race, Mystery Diners, black-ish, Best New Restaurant, Wahlburgers, & Donnie Loves Jenny.

theamazingracesmallTonight is the Season 26 premiere of The Amazing Race. That’s an insane amount of seasons, but even after all this time, they are still finding ways to reinvent themselves. This season is going to be different from the others because they are matching 5 singles with a partner to race around the world with, then those five blind dating pairs will compete against six couples who are already dating. The five duos will see each other for the first time at the starting line right before the race begins. Talk about pressure! Alongside these crazy blind-dating couples, there will be Jonathan Knight from New Kids on the Block and his partner, as well as Olympic medalists Aly Dudek and Steven Langton. The other twist to this season is that on each leg, one team will pull a clue that includes a “Date Night” ticket, and that couple will be treated to some amazing romantic activity for just them.

I’m not sure about this insane idea, but I think it’s going to make for fantastic television, especially because of how awkward it’s going to be. Can you imagine having a blind date that lasts the entire time you last on the race? Let’s hope they were honest with their profiles, because that’s going to be a major factor in how they get set up. If I had to bet on whether a new couple or an established couple will win the race, I’d put my money on an established couple. What about you?

On tonight’s 90-minute season premiere, “Great Way to Start a Relationship (Tokyo, Japan),” there are 11 new teams of all dating duos: six who are pre-existing couples, and five duos who meet for the first time at the starting line. Immediately, the couples face a difficult decision with a dreaded U-turn in the first leg.

To see how this interesting reality experiment starts out, tune in to CBS at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching Arrow, Empire, black-ish, Chicago PD, Wahlburgers, and Donnie Loves Jenny.

survivorswasmallTonight, Survivor returns for its 30th edition with a brand new twist. This time, the season is titled “World Apart,” and 18 new contestants will be divided into 3 tribes based on their occupations—White Collar, Blue Collar, and No Collar. It will be interesting to see how the game works with three tribes—the last time they tried this, it was brains versus brawn versus beauty, and the brains tribe was decimated rather quickly. Will the White Collar tribe follow the same fate, or will they be able to outwit the brawn of the Blue Collar tribe and the free-spirited No Collar Tribe? I’m really glad they went with all-new players this time around. I’m looking forward to meeting this new crop of contestants and seeing how they fare in the challenges and social gameplay that lies ahead.

On tonight’s 90-minute premiere, “It’s Survivor Warfare,” just minutes into the game, the castaways are forced to choose between honesty or deception; and one player becomes ill after trying to satisfy his need for protein.

Meet the three tribes tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race, The Middle, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, black-ish, Empire, Arrow, The 100, Melissa & Joey, Baby Daddy, The Americans, Man Seeking Woman, Suits, and Workaholics.
